I'll try to be objective as possible here. Goldberg Plumbing was extremely unprofessional and dealing with them was the most painful and stressful contractor experience ever in my 20 years of home ownership. It should be turnkey for a customer from our Northern Westchester community where customers should be guided through intended next steps by a competent contractor and not mistreated for asking questions. Their office people act bothered and get frustrated when asked questions. They behaved rude, individuals would never identify themselves, abruptly interrupt mid-questions, and just nasty and don't deserve local business. I'm sure they'll reply back with nonsense - so in anticipation, all i have to say is - If a contractor's office personnel behaves dismissive towards a customer, throws the phone, yells at its' customer - then said customer will also reach their breaking point, react and reciprocate. It started off horrible from day one and it never recovered with their office personnel, who as the primary interface with Goldberg's customer base, are doing that company a large disservice. What is intended to be feedback and opportunity for reflection, i hope won't be dismissed by ego. Small family business should not behave like this and I am appalled they do. In reading some of the other reviews, it seems to be common issue. Ultimately they don't like answering to questions, being challenged, called out on their inconsistent answers, irrational steps, or illogical answers. Resolution with them is near impossible. I tried talking to their owner and they refused to connect me with the owner so that I can communicate what was happening and how my experience grossly deviated from their advertised commitment of - "Treat others how you want to be treated" - "Customer service, be there when the customers need you and always communicate" - "Offer solutions to the customers problem, not a sales pitch. " If you want a company that will pull the rug from under you and walk off the job, go ahead and call Goldberg. It was probably for the best as I was starting to feel unsafe with their work practices. If you want professional plumbing service, do yourself a favor and reach out to anyone else. For me, Goldberg was the most incompetent company I've ever worked with. I get better service at TSA, post office, etc. Complete amateurs in Northern Westchester and a waste of time and money. The local municipality/utility expressed dissatisfaction interfacing with them. I started over with a new contractor and what a difference. I was trying to communicate with their owner, but their office personnel never allowed me to connect with them to give them opportunity for diplomacy. read more

The most honest plumbers I have ever met. We had an issue and rather than just start doing unnecessary work and running up a bill the owner and his son came out and diagnosed the issue and gave an honest opinion. Which didn't cost $$. it's nice to meet reputable people who care. read more

Carlos and his partner were very nice. They went above and beyond to assist. They did everything they could to assist me with my issue and what are my next steps to resolve the matter. I have used this company for years and recommended them too. 4 stars for the technicians. The issues that were concerning to me was the way the receptionist conversed with me on my initial call and on the service day. She was curt on the initial call and brought up my warranty and on the day of my service appointment (1:00 pm) she said the technicians knocked on my door at 12:30 pm. I was home a little after 12:00 pm and gave my dog a quick walk. What is troubling is that she thought if I saw the technicians I would go to their truck and knock on their window to let them know I was home. I was flabbergasted with her comment. 1 star for customer service. read more

Our pipes froze during the last power outage and we had no heat on our second and third floors. I called Goldberg in a panic and they got right back to me. After trying to snake out a tough clogged kitchen drain myself, I gave up and called Goldberg. The "Bill" who set the appointment and other "Bill" who showed up were great. Bill #1 kept me informed and the appointment was right on schedule. Bill #2 snaked the drain from under the sink, cleared the clog, reassembled what I had taken apart, and left the sink area spotless when done. I would use them again in a heartbeat. As this was a covid-19 call, I'll also note the Bill was masked, kept a distance and was courteous and professional. The cost was $189, and I left a tip to show my appreciation. read more

Absolutely mortifying experience today with two separate people at this firm. After the dispatcher talked to me like I was a waitress who got her order wrong, I was called back by a "Zoanne," who was worse than the first and outright lied me about the botched service call prior. This came in the wake of a repair call that went south quickly a few days ago and our attempts to reschedule were met with abject nastiness and abuse. The people answering the phone and scheduling have ONE JOB, and that is dealing with the public. By that metric alone this company fails miserably. There are too many alternatives and life is too short to deal with such a mess of an outfit. Good lord. read more

Avoid. The plumber that came was polite but did not know what to do. He said he'd never seen a shower fixture like mine. He filmed and sent to his manager. They informed me I'd need to break through tile to replace the whole system and need to fully remove my toilet to fix. Their quote was astronomically high. To make matters worse, the manager was rude and unwilling to explain the issues. My instincts told me to get a second opinion. The other plumbing company easily navigated the shower fixtures without breaking tile and fixed my toilet with a tightened screw. So simple. I have had no issues since. The other company charged me less to fix everything than Goldberg planned to charge me just for the toilet. And I didn't need to hire a mason to fix tiling ($$$). Go somewhere else. read more

I have been waiting since Friday to have a leaking waste pipe repaired in my office. I find it remarkable that something that poses a health hazard, especially during this season of coronavirus is left to wait from Friday afternoon when plumbers from Goldberg came to assess the situation until now, Tuesday afternoon...all because they don't carry "the part" on their truck. Hard to imagine that all plumbing supply houses, home improvement shops and hardware stores have been closed until today. I am incensed. Fingers crossed that they show up today. Anthony and his team came out to work on a constant sewage smell throughout the house. Of 6 the local plumbing companies that gave us the run-around, Anthony was the only one that was able to identify and explain the problem and fix the problem in ~1hr while billing us $250 for the work. Other plumbers hand-waved and their "master" diagnosis included $9k to repipe our house (wasnt needed), and $9k to put a sleeve insert from our house line to the city line (not needed nor the source of the smell). 10/10 would highly recommend Anthony's eye for analysis and quality of work. read more

I walked into our furnace room only to find the expansion tank was leaking. Not a welcomes ight as we were about to enter the "NY pause" due to the virus. Called Goldberg (I've used them twice at work for issues at the office). They answered the phone, were super polite and set up an appointment for the next morning. I've been using Goldberg plumbing for 5 years now. I've used them for everything from installing a water filtration, PH control system to changing out leaking stop valves. I have literally no complaints with either their service or their prices. They show up on time, their techs are polite and extremely good at their jobs, and their estimates have proven to be spot on. Do not use! Needed a heat valve replaced in a shower. The guys that came are polite, wear masks and are nice but are very inexperienced. They literally were watching you tube videos and calling the office to try to determine how to do this work and actually were going to charge me for this time (at $175 plus tax an hour) The main guy at the office also had no idea and said call the manufacturer. The guys seemed perplexed the part was sent with no instructions ( um, shouldn't you check that if you need instructions they are there before you come out to the client?) The lady at the office (Lois?) was not very nice either. The amount they were charging for the part way exceeded what I saw online and I was never called with the price of this part beforehand (although she insisted I had, she herself had no record of date of this call) We ended up paying $400 for a part and one hour of time and are left to find a real plumber to do the work. read more

do no use this company. Based on the following I can only assume that they are incompetent at best. I recently bought a house. The inspector told us that the waste pipe was in in disrepair and a part of it was rusting though and needed to be replaced. The sellers who were very accommodating asked their plumber Goldberg Plumbing to inspect. Goldberg told them that the pipe was sound and they should not agree to replace it. I did not insist on having my plumber inspect (so my fault there) and stupidly believed their plumber. So now it is less than 2 months later and we have not moved into the house yet - the pipe is cracked exactly in the spot that the inspector warned us about. My plumber said it was unconscionable that any plumber looked at that and said it didn't need to be replaced. $1000 later I have learned my lesson -NEVER USE GOLDBERG PLUMBING! read more

I had a frozen pipe. The technician came out and told me it was too late in the evening to start the job because it would probably take hours because of the complexity of my heating system. He explained the process would involve cutting the pipe and would probably cost a minimum of 1300 dollars because that was least expensive pipe thaw job he had all week.. He said he wouldn't charge me for the visit tonight because he wasn't going to do anything since it didn't make sense due to the late hour and he was not going to work until late into the night. He goes out to the truck, comes back and says he has to charge me 175.00 for the service call because the person that dispatched him says they have to get paid. (instead of the usual 250.00). He asks me if I have an hours worth of plumbing work that I want done since I have to pay for an hour his time. 175.00 to tell me the job is too big to perform tonight? You've got to be kidding me. I WOULD AVOID THIS COMPANY. After hearing about the complexity, I wouldn't go for it anyway, but why bother coming out at 7:30 only to tell me that the job is too big to do tonight, and bill me for a visit when you can't do the work anyhow. read more

We hired this plumber to install a shower base. The plumber unwrapped the base, fitted pipe, and compression sealed the base without asking our approval. Once done we were shocked to learn the incorrect base was sent by the supplier. The supplier was wonderful in correcting the error. DG Plumbing would NOT COMPROMISE or offer any concession. We had hoped to MERELY SPLIT THE COST TO CORRECT. The woman who answers the phone is RUDE. The plumber himself was adequate but inarticulate. read more

Do NOT use this company. If customer service makes a company, this one fails at hello. They started a job they did not complete and when I called and asked when they would resume work and finish the job they informed me they were busy and would get to it when they could. I was not happy. The office manager told me I was rude and she would not waste her time speaking with me further. I was mortified. Keep in mind I had already paid them for the first visit and was now without hot water for more than three weeks. A few hours after this upsetting call to Goldberg, the owner called me back. I thought an apology was in order and that was why he called. Boy, was I wrong. He told me I was rude and inconsiderate and would not work for me. What? Let's remember- this is a customer SERVICE business. When a customer is satisfied they tell one or two friends. When a customer is not satisfied they tell many. Please take heed of my experience and stay away from this company. They don't deserve to have your business. read more

I have a water heater that is literally 3 months old if that and stopped igniting. I called the technical assistance hotline and spoke to a very gentlemen who said it was covered, gave me a reference # to provide the service provider. He gave me 2 service providers. I picked the one closest to me, the company listed above. I spoke to a woman who was fairly nice and she said someone would call me back. Someone did...a very nasty woman who had an attitude the moment I answered the phone. Condesending, horrible attitude and overall horrible customer service skills. I ended up telling her so and hanging up! Awful horrible service. I tried to tell her the information given to me from the gentlemen from the technical assistance hotline and that I was told it was covered...that is what the reference number was for. She kept saying she didn't work for them. Very rude, bad attitude, horrible tone, not helpful and would never recommend this company. Anthony from Goldberg plumbing installed our gas line from the outside to convert our wood burning fireplace to gas burning. All good and professional.Then the problem, the gas logs had been purchased from Home and Hearth and since Goldberg plumbing was doing all the other work, they installed the gas logs. The problem was it was incorrectly installed and burned the remote receiver and the wiring. This is a human error and could have been repaired and replaced. What followed was the real problem. The woman(I could never get the name, either Priscilla or Zona?) who I dealt with in the office was very confrontational and flat out lied about what happened. First by insisting that my wife said she would take the "risk" of Goldberg installing the logs. Never said, never occurred. Second, once, I discovered the problem, again, acted if it was our fault. Then refused to pay the money for the new receiver and wiring, which was eventually installed by Home and Hearth (whom had originally sold us the gas logs). Finally making Home and Hearth give us the refund for the damaged parts and then Goldberg settled with them. The office is the problem. What a shame that she doesn't understand that customer service is how you can build a business or lack of customer service is how you destroy a business. read more

I observed evidence of a small leak from my waste pipe in my crawl space. The pipe appeared to have a pin whole, but was not actively leaking. I called Dave Goldberg plumbing for estimate to change out the cast iron waste pipe. I made an appointment for the following day. They gave me a four hour window between 12-4. They showed up after 1 o'clock in the afternoon. They examined the job and told me they could not give me an estimate but it would be 175 dollars an hour. It could take few hours or an entire day to do the job. It was a Friday and they said they could do the job on Monday if I agreed with the price. I told them I would have to consider my options. I got a call from the main office and was told they were confirming the appointment for Monday between 10-12pm. I told them my concerns on the job, no estimate in time, and if the job was an entire day (replacing the 15 foot cast iron waste pipe with PVC) then my bill would be over 1K dollars plus parts. The lady at Goldberg told me to call them back before closing at 4:30pm and let them know about Monday. I called at 4:30 and left a message with there answereing service, I was canceling the Monday appointment. I then got a call from the office, same lady, and she said if I didn't go through with the job,that I would have to pay 149 dollars for the visit. They advertise free estimates but when you don't agree with the price, they try and charge you. Be careful with this company. The plumbers are professional and they know what they are talking about, its the business practice of not providing estimates and then trying to charge you for a 15 minute estimate close to 150 dollars. This even took place in Yorktown, on Friday, June 19, 2015. read more
