This was our favourite place to stay along the West Highland Way, but I would go back to Allt-na-Leven just to spend time enjoying that place again. Highly recommended!

If we'd needed to stock up on snacks for the next day's walk, there's a grocery store right across the street.

Landlords: great bunch, very friendly; welcoming and talkative, but also understand that as soon as you are in you want a shower and a cup of tea. We travelled by car -- plenty of spaces. This very well taken care of and loved home features warm/comfortable rooms with modern bathrooms. It is a home with historical significance to the town, and the owners are more then happy to share it's history and their stories with you. Its an easy walk into town to try the local pub, visit the old jail, shop at the charity shops (there are 2!) or grab a bite to eat. A delicious breakfast is included in the bright and sunny dining room where you are well cared for by the owners. Rudha Na Craige and Inveraray were only a quick stop for one night at the end of our NC500 tour, but had we known how wonderful it was, we would have changed our schedule to stay longer!

The house is beautiful, the rooms are clean and comfortable, the metro stop is just a short walk from the front door, and the owners, Marion and Frank are some of the sweetest people you'll ever meet...it was the perfect place to spend our 2 nights in Glasgow. There is so much to do within walking distance from Ashton, it is the perfect place for those looking to explore Glasgow. The breakfast offerings were coffee or tea, cereals and yogurt, freshly cut fruit, toast, and croissants...no eggs or other hot offerings but sometimes you just can't have everything! Our room was on the small side and Marion offered to let us switch rooms on the second night but for us it was just fine as we really weren't in it much anyways! We shared a bathroom with the room next door which can be a bit awkward at times but everyone staying was very polite and we made it work. Marion even let us park our rental car around back for our stay which we were very grateful for. One notable downside is that they don't offer wi-fi at all which, for us, was a bit of a bummer...but we made do on our phones. Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Ashton Glasgow, the location and the hospitality would be very difficult to beat!

The leisure facilities had no staff there - you were left to your own devices to find out how everything worked. The lockers were complicated - again signage very poor. Nothing flowed properly. Service upon arrival was fantastic and and were quickly checked in and given directions to our room (thank goodness!) The room was spacious and had its own sauna which was super cool. Each room had a balcony and the shower/sinks had an interesting layout without a door, but somehow fitted well with the design of the room. It was quite rustic in terms of design and I've rated one less star because the room was dusty (I pulled up the blind and heaps of dust fell on me) and the walls appear to be paper thin (10pm and I could hear conversations through the wall and children carrying on in the hallway). The views from the room look directly over the lake and mountains in the background which was utterly breathtaking. So onto food. We were seated by the window with great views of the lake again. Service was prompt and friendly which was lovely. For starters: bread with oil and balsamic, and scallops with black pudding. Both pretty good and the scallops were cooked well. Mains: beef burger and the rib eye cooked rare. Again, both good, not amazing though. Dessert was the peanut butter parfait which was clumsily plated but tasted good. Overall it was... good. There was really nothing that stood out or wowed me though. Breakfast the following day was good, we had the classic Scottish breakfast which was hot and tasted good, but again nothing remarkable. Overall a lovely stay due to the views of the lake. It was generally peaceful and relaxing and a really great gift idea.
