On December 8, 2010, I contracted Goldblatt Sewing Inc located at 1511 N. Milwaukee, Chicago 60622, to service and repair my Brother industrial serge machine. Upon a quick glance at my machine, the owner stated that the loop needed to be changed and he did not have the part in stock. I would have to leave my machine at his shop for a week while he ordered the part. I consented as I was assured I would be called once he received the necessary part so that he could proceed with the repair. I did not receive any calls within the week as stated, and when I called on December 15th, he said that he had still not received the part. The next day I was notified that my machine had been fixed and I came in the following day to pick up the machine. While I was in the shop I tested the machine and it seemed to run smoothly. Without further question I paid $132.85 for the repair and took my machine home. As I tested my serge machine once again when I returned home, I noticed fresh glue on the machine and entirely new parts. I only needed the loop changed and yet I now noticed that the entire interior mechanism of the machine had been replaced. Infuriated, I called Goldblatt and he wavered around the subject, never denying that he did anything, and instead threatened to sue me, calling me a derogatory name and hung up the phone. I brought my machine back to Goldblatt escorted by a police officer, however was unable to file a report because of the nature of the issue. The owner refused to look at the machine and instead threw me out of the shop. My serge machine was original and I have been using for over 15 years this machine never had blue on it. Goldblatt is horrible place I would never trust them anymore. It's bad reputation for their business as well. read more

I have never posted on Yelp but after reading the reviews here and almost not shopping at Goldblatt's I had to sign up and post. I have no idea what is wrong with the reviewers who said the people here are rude. I walked in waiting to get yelled at. I bought a commercial machine last November, it sat all winter and I just started putting it together in May. I had lost the DVD so called to see if I could purchase another. The staff could not have been more helpful, they offered to mail me a DVD at no charge but I said I would be in the area; they had it waiting for me, no charge. I have called back with a couple questions and the conversation has always ended with - don't hesitate to call if you have any questions, that is what we are here for. Goldblatts is one of the finest places I have ever done business with. I believe the negative reviews have an alterior motive; perhaps they work for a competitor or something. They also might have confused this place with the Singer Outlet just up the road, I did find the old guy there difficult but still wouldn't give the place a negative review. read more

I have been very pleased with the product I purchased and the advice and help I've received from Mr. Levin at Goldblatt Sewing Machines: We purchased a Juki 1541S after extensive research on the web, for exactly the price quoted in Ebay. It came with all the accessories and table as advertised, and arrived in 4 days (during the Christmas season) when it was expected in 5. The instructions were clear, but somewhat incomplete for a novice like me, and I had to send severeal e-mails to Mr. Levin asking for clarification. He answered my inquiries promptly, even responding on Saturdays. The drive belt proved to be a bit too short, so he sent me a longer one at no charge and asked me not to bother returning the other one. He also made several long distance calls to me to answer questions which were a bit too complicated to deal with by e-mail. Overall I have been very favorably impressed with their service, and would certainly recommend them to anyone as a fine company with which to do business. read more

Great service not only on getting the machine to us quickly and efficiently, but also great engagement and advice on making sure it was the right machine for our purposes, and coordinated having a custom binding foot made, fitted it to the machine, and made sure it worked before shipping. Never visited the shop physically, handled everything via phone and email. There was a small part broken when the shipment was received, but they had a replacement part to me very quickly and handled the issue professionally. I have had an industrial sewing machine for over 31 years and every time I need something for the machine, I have gone to Goldblatt's. Goldblatt's has always had the parts or accessories I have needed. They are in the neighborhood and know their products. I had disassembled my sewing machine to move it, and years later went to put it together and I forgot how it went back. I went to Goldblatt's with my camera to show them the electrical component I had to reassemble and they explained how to connect the wires. My sewing machine is now up and running! I went in there to find out more information about walking foot sewing machines and I got a lesson in the machines-- what to look for and what to avoid. I was treated with a great deal of courtesy and the owner spent a great deal of time with me running through the features of the machines and which were the best and why. While I didn't buy a machine there since I was looking for a used machine, I learned a great deal and I know that if I have any problems with any of my machines, I would happily make the trip out there to drop it off for repair. This is the second machine that I have put together. Both were Juki's, the first an 8700, and the second a 8300N with the optional server motor. Goldblatt's sends along a dvd, which is very helpful, and anyone who is even remotely handy can put these things together. Because of the wide variety of models and options, I had questions, which were thoroughly answered. These Juki's are BARGAINS. My wife is a Costume Designer with 6 industrial machines in her shop. For her future needs, I guarantee we will buy from Goldblatt's again. read more

Talk about amazing customer service! I ordered my machine on Friday. They had to ship from Chicago to San Antonio. Extreme north to extreme south. Less than a week later it arrived. The first thing that caught my attention was how well they had packed this shipment. I called and found out they pack everything themselves. Done with such great care! I worked my singer to near death... brought it in at 10 am, they were super nice to me and told me it would be fixed by 3 pm. They even called me to tell me it was more jammed than they thought and they would have to add $10 extra to the initial $60 tune-up fee. Compared to anywhere else-- I would say this place is the best-- extremely fast and now my sewing machine works so much better than it ever has. read more
