I have gotten 3 dogs from this kennel they all are wonderful dogs. Barbara is very protective of the pups and goes to great lengths to ensure people don't infect the puppies while they are being weened. I think that this may cause the pups to be a bit under developed socially. But she has to protect these puppies from idiots read more

We have adopted 3 goldens from Barbrah and they all have been healthy and great. And we are trying to adopt one more from her at this moment. PLEASE DO NOT PURCHASE ANY ANIMALS FROM THIS IRRESPONSIBLE BREEDER!!! This business is owned by Barbara Stubbs. She breeds Golden Retrievers irresponsibly, by in-breeding, and not taking the proper precautions to keep the life-threatening illnesses caused by in-breeding out of the gene-pool. We had a beloved family pet that was born at Barbara Stubbs' Golden Arrow Kennels in Eagle Point in Oct. 2005. She sold the litter to an irresponsible broker in California by the name of Joe Chisholm. (If you Google his name, you'll see the heartbreak he is responsible for too.) Breeding and selling dogs this way is heartless and irresponsible. She has no business doing this, it is cruel to the dogs who eventually become sick and to the families that love them. I actually called Barbara recently to explain the many illnesses our dog had suffered with: (Osteosarcoma of the jaw; kidney disease; severe hip dysplasia and arhthritis in the spine), and that the vets and scientists at one of the leading Vet hospitals in the country said these were part and parcel products of in-breeding by irresponsible breeders.) I was very polite with her and asked her what can be done to prevent this from happening in dogs being bred in the future, to which she replied "I don't know, how do you do that in humans?" She is either very ignorant, or has been called to task for this in the past and does not want to admit knowing that what she does is wrong. Either way, she should not be in the business. We loved our dog dearly and went to great lengths to give her the treatment and medical care she needed to have as good a life as possible until her body wouldn't let her keep going. (Also, Barbara said that the sire to our dog ended up having Lupus.) Please don't let this happen to you, and most importantly to the animals. Until no one will purchase dogs from her, she will keep on in the same irresponsible way. The little money you save now by not purchasing an animal from an irresponsible breeder like this is nothing compared to what you will have to pay for in vet bills and heartache later. If you want the names of responsible breeders, you can check the No. Calif. Golden Retriever Club and similar places in your area, they keep lists of good, responsible breeders. Or better yet, save a dog from the animal shelter that needs a home and loving family. They are less likely to have the illnesses and physical problems that purebred dogs have. read more

My little girl was born at Golden Arrow Kennels and I purchased her from Joe Chisholm in San Francisco, CA. In December 2017. I took her to my vet for her first check up and he discovered a heart murmur. They typically go away which hers did until very recently. I took her on a routine visit to the vet and ended up having to take her for an echocardiogram and she has been diagnosed with an aortic stenosis. There is nothing they can do to fix it. I was told pretty much she could drop dead from heart failure at any point in time.....could be tomorrow could be next year could be 10 years from now. The point is this is a congenital defect meaning it is genetic. These breeders need to take their litters to a legitimate veterinarian for a full exam. The buyers should be notified of any health issues prior to purchasing.puppies. The breeders also need to clean up the gene pool. They are breeding dogs that have genetic defects and passing them along to their offspring. It saddens me to know that my sweet little girl is living on borrowed time at only seventeen months!! We purchased are Golden Daisy in September 2014. This was our 5th golden. Daisy is the best dog I have ever had. She has had no formal training we didn't have to because she is so well behaved. She lives to love my kids and grandkids. We are thinking of getting another and I would definitely go back to Golden arrow. When you arrive she will require you to clean your shoes and hands before entering her barn. Everywhere we go people comment on what a fabulous dog she is. Please do not purchase a dog from the Golden Arrow Kennels! We purchased a puppy from Barbara in 2010. We brought him home at 7 weeks old and from the first day, he had a very aggressive food aggression. He also had a hernia that we were unaware of when we purchased him. When he turned 11 months all his health issues started. He had leg issues, tumors in his ears, severe allergies and aggressive behavior, not only with food but towards humans. I tried more then once to contact Barbara by email and never received a response. I was also told she has had issues with animal control in the past. We spend thousands of dollars a year to keep Tate as healthy as we can and love him so very much. His health and behavioral issues are getting worse as he gets older. I am not sure why but I have read enough to understand this could be the cause of irresponsible breeding.
