I've had Golden Chick numerous times at get together with friends, but never went and purchased it myself. I finally decided to make the short trek over from Pearland and check it out myself. This place was busy at lunch so I knew they had to have some great food. Customer service was ok, friendly but mechanical. I did have one item missing from my bundle, but that seems par for the course when ordering large meals at fast food joints these days. I ordered The Mixer which came with 8 piece chicken, 16 tenders, 3 large sides and 8 rolls for 49.99. I thought that was a great value compared to some of it's larger competitors. It took a little bit to come out, but that just meant fresh food. The food traveled well and was still nice and hot when I got home. The large family sides were inconsistent as the fried items such as the okra and fries were plentiful in the box. The containers for the dirty rice and mac were smaller in size so I can see that being harder to split with a larger group. The okra was nice and crispy but missing a hit of seasoning. The dirty rice was overcooked and the least fave side. The mac looked and tasted great. The bone in chicken was large in size and very tasty. I went half spicy and half regular on the tenders and they were delicious. Overall, for the price, this was a quality fast food that I can see myself buying again! read more

the location I visited is in grant rd in Houston tx I'm not sure if I'm writing the review under the correct location however this was my first time having Golden Chick and I don't think I will be returning .I sat at the drive through window for about 8 to 10 minutes, and when I received my food it was cold NOT fresh at all. The catfish had a weird taste to it even after I tried to smother it in hot sauce , and ketchup the chicken also tasted off maybe because it was not fresh which I thought that's what this ret was known for fresh food . Chicken strips are great and fresh with a yummy breading. Spicy has a spicy powder and is not really spicy for those hot cheeto lovers. The rolls are the star for me tho, reminds me of the fresh rolls back in my elementary school cafeteria days. I used to love Golden Chick growing up, but then I was introduced to Cane's and most of the Golden Chicks started closing down. I saw that there was a new location opening up within minutes of my house and I had to go back to see how it compares with Canes. I must say their strips are still very solid, I like their white gravy, but they have a Golden Chick sauce that is comparable to Cane's sauce. Their rolls are delicious but is it as good as the toast? What I can get here that I can't at Cane's is their corn nuggets! I love Golden Chick so much and was so happy to discover this location. It's been open for a few months and I didn't even realize it. They have the best chicken tenders and I love that they have fried okra! I went through the drive thru a few weeks ago and the place was empty. I ordered the four piece tender basket with okra. I knew I would have to wait on the okra so I wasn't bothered with the wait. I like that they cook it fresh instead of having it sit under a lamp all day. When I used to eat Golden Chick back home, I don't recall them having dipping sauces. The guy asked me what kind of sauce I wanted and I ordered BBQ. I thought that the sauce would come in addition to the gravy but it doesn't! Upon closer inspection of the menu, I realized it says choice of gravy OR sauce. Now I know for next time. The tenders were so good with the okra and the roll was soft and buttery just as I remembered it. I'm so happy that there's finally a Golden Chick nearby. This place just opened up less than 1 mile from my home and it was very delicious very clean and the employees are super nice. I ate some tenders some mac n cheese some rolls corn nuggets and jalapeño poppers everything was on point .They have TVs on their walls with the Astros game showing, it was a great first impression I will be going their at least once a week for sure. I just bought a 10 piece DARK, which consisted of 5 fried pieces and 5 roasted pieces about an hour ago. The chicken tastes average but it was very fresh. The service was fine because the young lady allowed me to sample the chicken salad and it was good. I am disappointed because once I got home, the top layer had 5 fried pieces but the bottom only had 4 roasted pieces and 1 was a breast, which is NOT dark me (so I received 9 pieces instead of 10 and not all dark meat). I'm already settled at home and I don't feel like driving back. I tried to call the number listed on my receipt to kindly inform them on their error, in hopes of them "making it right," only to be greeted by a phone number that constantly rings and defaults to a fax machine tone. Just NO. I've been seeing this place on yelp for over a year because I live close by. I'm not much for fried chicken but finally my daughter wanted chicken tenders so I thought we'd try it. We like sauce so she ordered a honey mustard and a bbq I see which one she liked. I asked for a gravy and a ranch. He said NO. Like straight up said no and I thought he was talking to someone else in the back so then he asked me again what sauce I wanted I said can I please have one gravy and one ranch ? Y'all this little boy YELLED at me through the speaker that one gravy = 2 sauces so I can't have gravy AND ranch. He didn't say "sure ma'am that will be an extra $1" he said NO.
