I'm in a weird situation here... First off, let me say that the La Vernia location is always kind and the food is always great Bear with me till the end: Tonight I ordered delivery from Golden Chick through the Golden Chick app. The order tracking didn't update for a very long time, and then once the delivery window had passed, it randomly said delivered. I called the restaurant to let them know, and they told me my order hadn't been sent to them as a delivery order. There also wasn't any third-party pickup service associated with the order. They advised me to contact Golden Chick customer service directly and send someone to pick up the order. I submitted what I thought was a customer service ticket through Golden Chick, but when I went to pick up the order, I realized what I submitted must have been sent as a negative comment directly to corporate. They were extremely apologetic and I found out they had already been told they received a bad review/complaint, and it sounded like they were being blamed for it. It honestly took less time for corporate to receive my "complaint" and reprimand the location for something that wasn't their fault than it would have taken for my food to be delivered if the app had actually worked. I know this is a long story that could have been much shorter, but they deserve high praise. They were incredibly kind on the phone, and by the time I got to the restaurant to pick up my order, they had completely remade it so the food was fresh. Sorry for the confusion, Golden Chick in La Vernia. I'll be calling corporate headquarters tomorrow to let them know that what I sent was not meant to be a complaint, but a plea for them to fix the broken app that put all of us in this situation in the first place! read more

Horrible service at the drive thru. Placed my order for a family pack of tenders and I could tell it was wrong by what price he gave me. Since no one was in line I pulled up and said "I think you got my order wrong" and he asked I then gave him what I wanted and he again, screwed it up! I said no, I want the family pack 12 piece tenders with two sides and drinks!! He then rung it up again and the price was way off, he rung up a 20 piece. I just drove off. I have not been impressed since they opened. It's been 9 months since my last visit. It wasn't a good visit either. So I am having g a bad day and decided some fried chicken might make it better. Wrong decision. Ordered curbside. After sitting there 10 mins I called only to be told that they don't do curbside. Strike 1. Ordered extra roll. Got it. But both rolls were flattened. Strike 2. Order mashed potatoes no gravy. Was more like potato soup with gravy on it. Strike 3. Order butter, it was open. Strike 4. No utensils to eat my soup. Strike 5. Chicken was actually between room temp and cold. Strike 6. Now I understand why they don't have a rate us option on the app. It would never have anything good on it. i like the flavor of the roasted chicken; however, when I ordered all white, I received a small breast and a wing. To me, a wing is not a piece of chicken--only about one bite of meat and you have to work at getting it off the bones. The children that work here are very disrespectful. I came in and tried to find a table that wasn't gross and sticky. I asked someone at the counter to give me a wash rag so I could wipe the table, instead she wiped or leaving it all wet, and still gross and sticky. During my meal I went to the counter to get some honey, and was purposefully and completely ignored. Now I know why the older folks just come in and get it to go. My second visit to this place. I went through the drive thru at 3:45pm on a Wednesday. I ordered the gizzards and a chicken salad sandwich. I was asked if I wanted the 6pc gizzards only for $3.99 or the 12pc for $5.99. I went with the 12pc. They said the cooking time was 8 minutes which was ok with me. After 41/2 min my meal was somehow cooked and ready. I asked for ketchup and hot sauce which they made good on. There was Enuff ketchup and Texas Petes hot sauce( which is made on the East Coast. Go figure. ) to bathe a skunked dog in. When I got home I poured the gizzards onto a plate. The 12pc order seems to have been ' upgraded' to a 25 piece. Some were stuck together from the freezer, others were the size of grapes, and lastly, a few were the size of my big toe (not the best sounding analogy but accurate nonetheless ). After getting this fried fiesta poured out, ketchup, hot sauce and all , I naively popped some of that sweet organ meat into my mouth. HOLY $&!+. They were old gizzards re-dunked in old grease ( yuk). And I suppose they had a bunch of them bcuz like I stated earlier, their 12pc morphed into a25+ pc box of heartburn, heartache, and a general feeling of malaise with a touch of ' haha! We finally got rid of them nasty rubbery things'. Unfortunately, La Vernia doesn't have a large restaurant selection and when places like Golden Chick take advantage of this fact we all lose in the long run. I had such a positive experience with the woman that operated the drive though today and I just had to share! I was completely frazzled and preoccupied at lunch and mistakingly gave her a $50 bill (instead of a $5 bill) along with the rest of my money. She was honest and let me know my mistake! The chicken is pink which means they not cooking it right so if u want to get sick go ahead and eat here for number one number two I got the spicy strips and OMG they overloaded the spice never again it's ridiculous I couldn't even eat the chicken strips the mac n cheese is bland the cheese shouldn't even be called that should be mac and water people don't even waist your time I rather drive all the way to San Antonio for gold chick then to eat at this one again read more

Hello, we just moved to La Vernia and we love it! I wanted to provide some polite constructive criticism for the Golden Chick which we love for a quick and easy meal when needed! We have eaten there twice. The first time we paid extra for 2 sides and they were not placed in our sack at the drive thru. I called to let the evening manager know and instead of an apology the person was very argumentative. So, yesterday we went it in for the to go order. We were the only patrons and it took almost 20 minutes to get our food and they were out of sweet tea. We did twice remind them about the tea and they did refill it finally right before we left. I checked the order not realizing that on one of the two dinners we ordered the roll was not placed in the box when we sat down to eat at home.The food was good, but the operation of the restaurant is very unorganized. The young man taking our order was friendly. I recommend getting some tips from the Golden Chick location in the Oak Hill area in Austin. They were prompt, efficient, friendly and delicious. The restaurant might be new here and maybe the kinks are being worked out. I hope so, as we do like Golden Chick very much! read more
