This has been a long time bookmark so I decided to stop by for a chicken dinner. They open a 3 pm so it's was hard for me to stop over because I'm almost never in Hales Corners in the evening but today I was so I ordered a chicken dinner with frys and coleslaw. It's take out only and no dining room just so you know. The chicken diner is a four piece with a breast, thing, leg and a wing that were on the small side. The chicken was hot and moist with a thin crispy coating but not seasoned so some salt was added. The frys were crinkle style that were soggy and moist but like the chicken not seasoned so I added some salt. The coleslaw was the very common generic with a little orange for contrast. The dinner roll was small but fresh and generic. overall it's good but bland as it's served and definitely not 12 herbs and spices but with some added seasoning it's ok but it's not going to blow a fried chicken lover away at all. read more

Got a family pack, the fried Chicken - scrawny and overcooked, almost no breading - dreadful frankly and the mashed potatoes are reconstituted. Rolls store-bought out of a bag. A gas station nearby has way better for way less. Golden Used to be good but hasn't in years. I pass this place every day. Literally every day at least four times. I thought it was closed. My husband insisted otherwise. He was right. I decided to give it a try one night when I knew we didn't have clean dishes. Expertly cooked chicken but low on flavor. It definitely needed a little something. Just a pinch of salt even. Maybe pepper. Anything! I'm not asking for the Colonel's secret spices but there was only oil and chicken flavor and that gets old after eating just one piece. The potatoes were creamy and buttery but again, no flavor other than the butter. I don't want to say it about the gravy, but that too needed some punch. It was just bland all around. C'mon guys. I want to love you!! The slaw was great though. Flavor and texture wise. You get a lot for what you pay for so that is a huge positive. It's a good deal for two. Plenty enough for leftovers. Everyone was super nice and professional. They were accurate on the timing so my food wasn't under a lamp when I arrived and I really appreciated that. I took a menu and noticed that they have other offerings besides chicken so I'm willing to try this place again. My husband had been having a hankering for Golden Chicken for a while now, and he finally got to have it this past Saturday night. I was less than thrilled, as the last time I had it (not from this location), it was extremely greasy. I'm a KFC gal and hey, you like what you like! This time, the chicken was just the right amount of greasy, was hot and moist......but almost flavorless. 16 pieces, and not one leg: 4 breasts, 8 thighs and 4 wings. We got a 1/2 pint of coleslaw, which I didn't eat, but I CAN say that it was barely enough for one person, let alone 2. We also got an order of mashed potatoes and gravy and an order of french fries, as well as 8 rolls. The rolls were the best part of the meal, for me, followed by the fries. The rolls were warm and soft, as they should have been and the fries were just right....not soggy, but not overly crisp, either. The potatoes and gravy were mostly for me, because they are my favorite thing to eat with fried chicken, but they, too, were bland. The gravy was chicken gravy, like from a jar, yet had no flavor. The potatoes were more than likely from a box, but if you've read my Serb Hall review, you know that I don't care, I'll eat them. I had to put a bunch of salt on them to make them palatable, but I did eat them. So, I'm done with the chicken from Golden Chicken. My husband wants to try their cod and I'm game. I'll also try a pizza from here, if he wants one. Just because I didn't like one of their offerings doesn't mean I won't like the others. I ordered a chicken meal with fries and a kids snack for delivery. The delivery service was great- very quick. The food... was bad. I really wanted to like this place! I always saw it and thought I need to try it, but it was a disappointment. The fries were really dark like they were fried in old oil that needs to be changed.. The only complaint I have is with the fish. If you order the cod, order the fillets not the squares. My family and I have had golden chicken for the last 15 plus years and always loved the crispness, tenderness and how moist the chicken was! We ordered it on a Friday, said it would be delivered in an hour, which is fine...it came earlier than that, that is why I'm giving it 2 stars. The chicken was the worst I've ever had! It reminded me of the movie Christmas vacation when they cut the Turkey open and how dry it was. It was like leather. The only good thing was the mashed potatoes. Had to use the gravy to eat the chicken though. Overly cooked and was very disappointing. We used to love your chicken! What happened?! It was so overly done the beast meat was split. Great carry-out pizza, chicken, and fish. Make sure to ask for lake perch. The ocean perch is squares and while good may not impress. It may look like "Mickey-D's" fish but it isn't. My first time trying the Hales Corner location was a couple months back. The chicken was under cooked and the fries over cooked. I was given a credit for my full purchase. Now today 10-7-18, I called in for my credit and ordered the same as my first order. The chicken was cooked this time however the pieces were so small and the fries over cooked again! Passed here and never went to this location. So disappointed we did tonight. It was less then par. $20 later for 3, it was quick. But was cold by the time I drove 5 minutes. The chicken had no flavor. It was all about the little crispy edges. The rolls were dry and cold and flavorless. The coleslaw was good but how can u screw up some salad bought at a deli.
