Golden China is a golden gem hidden next to Lowes on the Nothshore. The food is consistently excellent and the vibe in the restaurant is really chill. Every single dish my family had was terrible. The beef and broccoli tasted old and had canned mushrooms. It says everything is made fresh. Doubtful. My son had BBQ pork which was dry and had no flavor. The crab rangoon tasted off like the cream cheese went bad. I threw almost everything away after a few bites except the egg drop which had no color and I refused to eat because my husband said it tasted like hard boiled soup in dishwater. First, I wanna say thank you, Amy, the service was impeccable...it's like you we're reading my mind. Thank you so much for serving up a great meal! We ordered the kid's chicken and fries for the little dudes and, of course, I had to try the chicken. It was delicious! Perfectly fried and the batter was flaky and delicious. The little dudes rarely eat all of the chicken on their plates, but they were fighting over the last bite tonight. Or was that me? Whatever, it was good stuff. The appetizer sampler came out hot, fresh, and piled high. I tore through my chicken wing first and would go back just for an order of these babies. The Cho Cho, Crab Rangoon, and Temoura Shrimp were all pretty standard, but it is definitely a high standard. The egg rolls, too, were done well and were hot and crispy. The sauce is sweet and tangy, but I like mine spicy, so I kicked it up with some mustard. I would have really enjoyed some chili oil in it, though. Still, it was good and went fast! We ordered the Mongolian Beef entree. It comes with either white rice or combination fried rice; we got the fried rice. This was the only part of the meal I didn't care for. There wasn't much flavor and the rice was overcooked. Of course, it was the last half hour of the day, so I imagine they probably do a pretty good job most of the time, but most of the rice was left in the bowl when we were done. The Mongolian Beef, though, what a knock out! Fresh and crunchy vegetables, perfectly cooked strips of beef, with a sauce that was just spicy enough to make the Petunia and me smile big big. A dash of soy sauce and we were off and chomping. I wish there had been more beef, but that isn't the chef's fault; Petunia was on a roll with her fork. To be fair, we worked in the yard all day and this was our first meal, but I am writing this with a watering mouth thinking about that dish and wishing I had some more beef! First time here, but we will definitely be back; good food and great service are hallmarks of a good restaurant, and these guys are really good. read more

RUDE RUDE RUDE They make you sit outside and wait for your food which is fine but when I called to let her know I was here she yelled at me not to call and that she knew I was here! I was outside with 4 other people so that seems suspicious that she would know my order when I don't normally come here. Let me begin with you NEVER put fried food directly into a Styrofoam container. All that does is melt carcinogenic plastics onto the food. So much of the order was not eaten, period! Now that said, NOTHING had flavor. Nothing! We normally do not use soy sauce or aminos on our Chinese food. All but the Sweet and Sour chicken we all drowned with soy sauce to get some semblance of flavor. HORRIBLE food. Will make the trip back to Slidell and get real food that is edible and cheaper as well. We had: Egg Fried Rice, nothing but egg that looked like ground meat it was so ground up, RAW onion and had no taste. Looked like caramel coloring was added to sort of make it look browned. Chicken Lo Mein, overcooked noodles, and flavorless sauce. RAW white onion I think this one had 2 pea pods in it. Crawfish Lo Mein, this must have flavor, right? Nope. Again mushy noodles, RAW white onion and tada ONE pea pod. Sweet and Sour Chicken, grandchild liked it, didn't want the RAW onion and bell pepper thrown on top and I really again must say, I bet the out of fryer chicken was thrown in a Styrofoam container BEFORE the sauce was poured over it...grand never said. Fried dumplings , sauce was brown vinegar with a bit of soy sauce added. Egg rolls, again fried and put into a Styrofoam container Fried chicken wings, thrown into a Styrofoam container as well. But as you can see from my picture, that is not the General. It was some kind of mix of sweet and sour and orange chicken. It was not good. Well let me tell you it was phenomenal number one there egg drop soup was amazing their general chicken oh my goodness of light Lee fried not heavy at all and the combination rice wise so fluffy amazing! When I got there to pick up the food I went inside paid the bill and just as I was in there another lady came and picked up her mail and she had nothing but great things to say about this restaurant she's informed me they have no MSG I can pick it up from them for years while she was right about how amazing the food was I had to write this review when I got back home everyone love the dinner so on that note I recommend their general chicken and their sweet-and-sour chicken their egg drop soup oh my goodness I forgot to say their shrimp toast amazing will be ordering again thanks so much read more

am not sure how long this place has been in business, but it is a Monet. It seems great at first glance but, up close, what a mess. When my family first moved to the area this was our favorite takeout place. It seemed clean and the food seemed fresh. The owner was friendly, and it appeared to be a family owned business which we try to support. We did stop going here after an inexcusable experience that led to me contacting the health department. One day I was sick, and my husband got me my favorite chicken noodle soup from there and this time it came with a flying bug in it. It was packaged in a clear container sealed tightly so it was at the restaurant for sure since I did not even open the container. So, apparently the kitchen is not as clean as I thought, and they don't pay attention to the bug in the soup in a clear container where it is very visible. We told the owner, drove across town to show her and her only response was, do you want a new soup? I told her no thanks I would prefer a new restaurant instead. read more
