With this brewery, I wanna focus on the layout. They have a nice big outside area. Some of it covered some knot and even though it was colder, you could see where they would set up kegs come summertime with this would be a daily rage for day drinkers... Lol.. everybody here was very friendly and it was a really cool vibe. With that being said the beers I tried were not as wonderful as I would hope they would be. After going to another brewery before here that might be a little bit of a biased opinion, but overall, this is a fun place to come check out and have a good time. read more

We loved the vibes here but my husband and his friend didn't love the beer. I was able to enjoy a root beer soda while we sat outside under a shade tree. Love coming here for a beer!! The setting is so nice - love the neighborhood, casual vibes. Also - didn't know they had pitchers?! Our group got a pitcher of the Dragonfrucht sour, which was delicious albeit a bit tart. Great for a perfect summer night. We grabbed an outdoor table and played cards and got to people and dog watch. Next time, want to check out the patio further on the corner near the brick building. Such great outdoor seating. There's also a German (?) food truck - haven't tried it yet but will one day. ALSO, discount on beers if you pay with cash! Love this neighborhood spot. read more

Golden's original microbrewery and the second largest brewery in Golden. I think we all know who the first is. On a gorgeous Sunday afternoon, my wife and six month old strolled in. I had been exposed to their brews before on several occasions, but never checked out their taproom. Good lord, this place was SLAMMED. As we know in Colorado, if it's a bluebird day with sunny skies and ideal temps, the masses will flock from their homes and take over a patio. This was one of those days! Did you know they were founded over 30 years ago? Yeehaw, all the way back in 1993. The indoor taproom is small, with a few seats and art plastered on the walls. You can wait in line either inside or outside. Inside near the bathrooms or the outside walk up window. The humble space hasn't changed much over the years. They have eight beers on draft, and to-go cans in a stand up cooler. Inside will get fairly crowded since it's small, however you're not coming here to sit inside, you're coming out here to sit outside. In my best approximation there has to be 150-200 seats available outdoors! Picnic style tables are in abundance and divided into three distinct seating areas. Wow, I didn't expect this much seating! I went with the Clear Creek Kolsch on this perfect day and it went down smoothly. So much so, I ordered the same one. I'd say the taplist is limited compared to other breweries. The only IPA they had on tap was a Black IPA, but that wasn't calling to me. They have some interesting stuff, just not anything that particularly jumped out to me. Now as awesome as the outdoor space is, it's just patio seating. So, it seems very weather dependent. However, they've been serving the community for a long time so I'm glad to see the demand is there for perfect sunshine outings. If you have a big group of people, don't forget about this unassuming local brewery in Golden that's off the beaten path. Check it out! read more

GCB is pretty solid, especially for a smaller brewery. They expanded during the pandemic, a fabulous surprise when we recently visited again. I'd say they maybe tripled their seating area and have lots of cool areas and spaces outdoors to sit down, lounge and enjoy your craft beer with friends. I always appreciate breweries that offer sours, so thank you, GCB. And, this sour was a twist on their porter - I'm not sure I've had a sour porter before. Sounds a bit off but tasted wonderful. Cool little spot in the Golden area. There is a service window if you want to order outside, or a small taproom where you can sit inside. As far as food goes, they had some bites, but we didn't order anything. A few people around us were eating and seemed pleased. It was a dreary, rainy day, so it was pretty dead while we were there. A few folks were enjoying pints, and the bartender was holding it down well. The beer was good. The prices were solid, and the atmosphere could be fun on a better day. One the best breweries I have been to, so far. Colorado has several, but the staff is top notch, knowledgeable, and inviting. A little unusual location as it's down an alley (from the direction we were coming from) and somewhat hidden. But there is a main front part on a street. It's tucked away in a small housing area. It was nice and quiet. No music as it's probably because of neighbors which is a slight bummer but understandable. There is a permanent food tuck which I didn't try. But plan on trying it on my next visit. There is plenty of picnic table seating outside with umbrellas and some tables inside of a covered area. There is also some seating inside of the area where restrooms are located. Beer was great. I wished I had stayed for more. Overall, just a nice place to hang out and have a few beers and maybe even some food. read more

Great brewery in Golden! They have plenty of drinks besides beer. I got the prickly pear cider which was good. They also have wine and slushees. I love their slushees they are so so yummy! This use to be one of my favorite breweries in Colorado. Sadly, that time has passed. Stopped in after a trip from Idaho Springs. I tried an Evolution and my partner tried a Black Hops. The beers tasted dirty, not fresh, and definitely not the quality we use to expect from GCB. Maybe the additions of glitter-bomb, fruity and sours made them lose focus on the good, straightforward beers they were known for in Colorado. I love the expanded patio and covered area. However, the space as a whole is less inviting than it was in the past. It seems little care has been given maintenance or basic cleanliness. The restroom was filthy and the door lock was broken, and a pile of trash was visible near the outside tables. So disappointing for a long time beloved brewery. read more

Went with some locals to Golden City Brewery - walking distance from so many places and nearby many places! Good variety of beer but not many of each kind. Mostly for beverages, saw a few snack options as well though. Seating was majority outside, with a few spots inside, best part was the huge fan cooling the space! The outside has tons of seating for groups, couples, and anyone and everyone. There was an outdoor bar as well with limited choices but nice to avoid having to go back inside. Minor complaint is the awkward bathroom location literally 5 feet from the front counter / register. But with the small building, not much they can do! Amazing local spot!! There's limited indoor seating but they have a very large patio space with a mixture of covered seating and tables with umbrellas. Each member of the staff was helpful and attentive, and created a nice atmosphere for customers. I don't typically like sours, but the Guava sour came highly recommended by the staff. It was delicious!! Truly tasted like I was drinking juice (but with a buzz). My friend who enjoys sours also got this beer and raved about it. Will definitely be back! read more

Awesome brewery! It is an outside brewery but most of the tables have little fire pits on them to keep you warm. Great beer selection. They also had some wine and liquor options. There's a small menu with some small bite options. We got the spinach dip and it was tasty! Very dog friendly. They even offer a pup cup and pup charcuterie! How cute is that?! Very cute brewery located in the city of Golden. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon where the wind was blowing out of control but we found comfort sitting in their slightly guarded patio area. I'm not a big beer guru but enjoyed tasting the variety the menu had to offer. We purchased a couple of IPAs and chit chatted at one of their tables outside. One could purchase beer to-go also. This place I like that they make it known that they are the second largest brewery in town. Behind Coors. This place has a unique story that I read in a book that I purchased in Golden, CO. The owner Charlie was a home brewer in 1993, which thinking back to when I was a sophomore in high school, I never heard of home brewing like I do today. He was a geologist who felt like he was going to get laid off. He wanted to see if brewing was for him and if it could help for lost income. Here they are some nearly 30 years and going strong in his backyard. This brewery is unique and provides plenty of areas to sit and enjoy a beer. You can bring your pet. I'm sure in the winter, things slow down as the inside space has limited room. I liked the brewery, the beer was good. The only thing I didn't like was the amount of beers that was available. When I asked for something on the board it was out. I felt like I really didn't get a chance to try everything I would have liked to. Overall great setup, cool location. I've always enjoyed stopping at Golden City for a beer when I'm in the area but I especially appreciate them at a time when I'm not going out much! The entire time I was at Golden City Brewing today I felt very safe. Their tables are all outdoors and it felt easy to get distance from others. Right now they have you wait at the front for somebody to seat you and you order your beer from their outdoor window. The only reasons you'd need to go inside are to buy to-go beer or to use the restroom. My sister and I both ordered sours this time around. She had the guava which was a bit tart but great. I had Storms on Jupiter which was sour and a tiny bit sweeter than the Guava beer. I'm not usually a fan of beers made with Brett but this one shifted that opinion a bit - it was delicious. If you're looking for a snack with your drink Golden City is also offering small s'mores kits. If you're lucky enough you can snag one of their tables that has a tiny table-top fire pit for you to roast over. What a treat! I highly recommend Golden City right now if you need a place to feel a little normalcy while maintaining your safety and distance. I will be visiting again soon! read more

I'm so thankful GCB is up and running during COVID season!! If you've never been, Golden City Brewery has plenty of outdoor seating and tables (most WITH their own heaters). This is one of my favorite local breweries, as they consistently switch up their brews and always have the most delicious food trucks. Ask for free pretzel chips when you order your beer! Masks and social distancing are enforced (you may remove your mask at the table to eat/drink). Busiest days are Friday/Saturday evenings -- if there's a wait, I usually take a stroll along Washington Street (main street) to pass the time until they text me my table is ready (keep checking, it's usually faster than they tell you!).
