The food was really great. Felt full for hours later. Unusual but a great meal. Is pickup only but VERY well worth it. Best Chinese food I have ever had and that includes from China Town in San Francisco. Too bad we live 2400km from them. We had spring rolls, chicken fried rice, egg foo young and chicken balls. All were wonderful. The takeout service was good as there were chairs to sit and wait as I was early. They used to be eat-in but Covid 19 changed that. read more

I came here in a break from work to load up on some food. I was happy with the portion size and temperature but the dishes lacked dimension. I would describe it as myself wanting a greater flavour depth to the food. I ordered a dinner for one and I was very grateful that they substituted out the pork fried rice with a chicken fried rice. I was hoping for subtle hints or garlic and ginger (and other spices), typical to Chinese cuisine in the dishes. I suppose they cook to traditional Western tastes? I've had mixed experiences with takeout service here. The latest experience on NYE was disastrous. We called in at 3pm to place the order and were told there were only 2 time slots available: 4pm or 7:30. We chose 7:30. One would think this system was put in place to deal with the obviously busy day and to spread out orders. Not so much. Arrived at 7:30 to pick up. 25 people in line. For first 20 mins no orders for pick up going out, only for delivery. Our order was finally ready at 8:15. Nothing like waiting 45 min in a hot crowded restaurant. Let's just say the general mood of all waiting was NOT happy. A much better system is needed for their busiest night of the year. I'm hoping this was an aberration because all other times I've picked up it's been ready on time. However if this had been my first experience, it would also have been my last. Food quality is consistently good. Egg rolls are tasty with interesting spices. (Minor complaint: I always ask for hot mustard and they never give it to me) Chicken always seems fresh unlike other places where I question if it's yesterday's leftovers. Batter on deep fried items is crisp and not oil logged. I really enjoy their version of hot and sour soup. Their default is the shrimp included; if you have seafood allergies ask for the non-shrimp version. read more

New Year's Day, the only Restaurant in Byron, visiting our daughter and we ordered take out waited over 1.5 hours from the time we ordered it. The fried rice was burned and smelled really bad, the garlic ribs were over cooked. We were starved and they were the only place open in the area Out of 4 dishes 2 were ok the rest was literally dog food. Will not go back! read more

Wow. While I can't speak for the experiences of these two 1 star reviews or the dine-in experience, I can say that they are shocking to a long-time customer who has had nothing but great Chinese food from this place for a long time. Maybe those customers have posh toronto expectations of zero grease and think they have more knowledge about Chinese food than the Chinese owners. Maybe they just strayed from the items this place does best and the cook messed up. Yes it's a little greasy but it's soo good. Likely the best in London. Bomb won ton soup. Get it in ya. Chow mien comes with fake crab and scallops mmm not like some places who just give you veggies and dry pork. Veggie fried rice and beef and broccoli are very good. Spring rolls, fried shrimp - greasy but good. Honey garlic short ribs and honey garlic wings are great. the short ribs aren't very short like other places which is great. Tried the tan doo wings this time but they lacked flavour. No sauce and the dry rub left us looking for flavour via soy sauce. Love you golden dragon read more

Good authentic Cantonese food in Byron. Can be a bit of a wait but food quality is worth it. We dine here a couple of times a year.

We have been eating here once a week now for about the last 3 months. I have to say I am a fan. The menu is simple....the food is good.....the service is great! We were craving a very old school Canadian Chinese meal and stopped here on a Sunday night. This was a horrible disappointment at our expense! Appetizer tray Egg Rolls - unidentifiable except mainly cabbage, no bean sprouts, no meat, some weird black pieces - maybe mushroom bits. Greasy! BBQ Ribs - red sauce, cold ribs - awful Battered Shrimp - greasy Wings - best of the lot, but salty Won-Ton - you really can't screw up Main dish Moo goo guy pan - single word to describe - grey! Tangy spicy beef - no description explaining that it is strips of beef coated in peanut butter with a bit of spice on dry noodles - when we asked why it didn't say anything about peanut butter, she said we should have ordered it a different way next time OMG - there will be NO NEXT TIME!! The best part of the entire meal was the mushroom fried rice. Be warned!! Almost $60 ! read more

If there was an option to give 0 stars, I would. I have had take out from this place a few times in the past. Always with mediocre results. Mainly because their food was always watery. For example, instead of a thick, gooey lemon sauce on the lemon chicken, they give you something that has the consistency and taste of lemon jello water before it sets. So the last time I was in London I went to eat in the restaurant for the first time with my mother. Basically because it is super close to her house. Anyway, our server was a cute older lady and she was super nice! I ordered the dinner for one with a side of ginger beef, thinking I would get a doggie bag because I knew there was no way I would finish it. My mom got the seafood in a nest or whatever it's called. My dinner was good, it came with won ton soup, which had what was supposed to be bbq pork in it but tasted like dried jerky dog treats (please don't ask how I know what these taste like), but the won tons and the soup were good! Then came the egg roll which was 99% bean sprouts and 1% unidentifiable meat that also tasted like dog food. The rice, chow mein, and chicken balls were good. My mom's seafood in a nest was also good, but the nest was dried ramen which was kind of weird. The real shocker was the so-called "ginger beef". The ginger beef consisted of pieces of beef sitting in water with chunks of RAW ginger. The ginger was obviously super strong, and even I know that raw ginger is a HUGE no-no to serve and I am not even a chef... It's worse than serving someone raw garlic. Anyway, I was willing to pick it out because they were pretty big chunks (probably about 1cm), but the "sauce" was literally just brown water so the beef was tasteless. So I waved the server over and told her I didn't want it. I told her there was absolutely no taste except for the raw ginger. She said she would ask the cook to redo it, but I told her I didn't want it at all anymore. She said "but you ordered it". I said "yes but I can't eat it". I knew if they redid it it would likely be just as bad from my past experiences. So the server called what I am guessing to be her supervisor over who told me that I ordered the dish, so they can't take it off. I told him that it was watery and there was raw ginger and there was no way I was keeping it. He rolled his eyes, and said "I will take it this time, but next time I won't be able to because it is something YOU ordered", like he was doing me a huge favour. I told him "Don't worry, we won't be coming back". And he said "that's fine". And flew away all huffy. Then when I went to pay, he was short and did not make eye contact with me. I made sure to tell him the tip was for the server. So basically based on the food I would have rated them 2 stars on most of it but 0 on the ginger beef and lemon chicken. Based on the service, I would have given them -infinity stars.... Since 1 star is the least you can rate on yelp, I have been forced to round up to one. I sincerely encourage everyone to avoid this place like the plague. Unless you like watered down food, raw ginger, and insulting service. read more
