Stopped by here today for the Festival of Family Farms. It was fun to see a few of the babies and learn a bit about the cows. The real treat was the cheeses and butters for purchase. We bought the Queso Con Salsa, red pepper with onion and garlic and chive with onion. The first two were our favorites to just eat straight out of the package. The last we made into little open face grilled cheeses using the two different butters we bought (herbs de Provence and garlic with sea salt). Easily the best little appetizer! We will definitely be purchasing more in the future. Yes, they do cost a bit much but you pay for what you get! read more

We stopped here to check out their products and hopefully try some. They did have a case of products to sell, but they did not offer us any samples or anything. It's a fairly small place and I can see where it might be expensive to sample things but I think it would have helped to offer some. Anyway, we bought chocolate milk, butter, cheese curds and a specialty cheese. Everything I have tried has been really good, but you can apparently buy it in farmer's markets in Seattle and at Whole Foods, so I am not sure it is worth the trip (if you live in Seattle). read more

Don't expect some kind of huge selection at this little dairy. It's not the dairy section of your fancy-dancy, high-priced market. The store at Golden Glen Creamery has one little refrigerator case--but man, oh, man, does that little refrigerator case deliver the goods! We bought a gallon of whole milk, a tub of butter, a little tub of honey butter, a piece of cheddar cheese and a caraway-cardomom flavored cheese. Oh, yeah, and a little bottle of chocolate milk. EVERYTHING was fantastically delicious. The cheeses were my favorite. SO fresh and tasty. If you can find a better piece of natural cheddar cheese anywhere, please let me know. I'd like to try. The milk reminded me of the fresh dairy milk we used to get delivered to our door by the milkman when I was a kid in Nebraska. Good, stuff! We'll be back the next time we're in the area. read more

OK, so I saw this place listed in the "things to do" section of the Tulip Festival brochure. It stated how you can get cream-top milk, various chesses and other delicious treats. Sounded great, right? We get there and find a run-down dairy farm that's more like a crime scene than a "creamery." The "store" was a joke. It was a run-down house that makes you question if you really want to be there. After going in, I find the only thing there is a single cooler with a few varieties of over priced cheeses and bottles of non-fat, 2% and whole milk. The small bottle, about a pint, was $2.50. Really? No cream-top milk anywhere. We couldn't leave fast enough. How this place got listed in the Tulip Festival brochure is beyond me. read more

I purchased my first ever bottle of GGC milk at the Everett Farmer's market this morning, and the gentleman running the booth was very nice, informative, and obviously proud of the product he was selling. I had heard great things about their milk and loved all the cheeses I have tried, so I was excited to get home and try it. I got in the house, popped the cap before I even put my other groceries away, and poured a big glass. I must say... I'm glad I did. I bought the nonfat milk, and even being nonfat, it tasted rich and creamy and had a great earthy sort of flavor to it that I really can't describe (I'm guessing this is because it comes from cows that eat real grass instead of corn their whole lives?). Absolutely nothing like grocery store milk - this is what I imagine real milk is truly supposed to taste like. If you live in the general Western Washington area, I highly recommend you give this milk at least one try. You'll never be happy buying generic grocery-store milk again. read more

After reading a glowing review of Golden Glen Creamery Eggnog in the latest "Seattle Metropolitan" magazine, we hurried down to the local PCC and waited for their shipment of eggnog to arrive. The next day, we picked some up (hoping to add another candidate to our yearly Christmas Eggnog Tasting party) What a disappointment. The Golden Glen eggnog had a milky grey-brown color, a watery/gritty texture, and tasted like skim milk with a half-cup of cinnamon tossed in. If you handed glasses of the stuff to ten people and asked them to identify what they were drinking, I seriously doubt any of them would answer "eggnog" -- it was pretty horrible. (If you left some for Santa, he'd take back LAST year's presents, and throw the coal at your head.) read more

I had a free weekend and heard that The Festival if Family Farms was happening and that Golden Glen Creamerywas involved, again. It wasn't a short trip coming from Blaine, but it was worth it! The staff was very nice and helpful with everything from parking to questions about their products. I bought their butter, Aidan's reserve cheddar, medium cheddar, and Marin's Gouda. I can't wait to try this cheese on my next party recipe! For as long as I have had their products I know that I am getting a great product and service. read more

This is a working dairy, not like going to Pikes Place, wear shoes appropriate. The farm store is small, but holds delicious cheeses, strawberry milk, old fashioned thick chocolate milk, seasonal eggnog which you need to shake up the bottle each time before pouring and regular milk all in glass bottles so no plastic after taste! Ive purchased the strawberry, chocolate, eggnog and regular milk and they are creamy and delicious. Also the various flavored cheddar cheese to serve to company which was immensely enjoyed! The best time to visit the farm is during the yearly Skagit Valley Farm Tour when its very festive. At that time there's a longggg table with cheeses to sample along with authentic homemade tamales to purchase. The tamales we purchased 2 dozen to freeze and enjoy throughout the year. YUM! Absolutely wonderful, friendly, knowledgeable families host this delicious dairy farm destination! read more

The store was very small, just two glass-front fridges with assorted cheeses, milk, and half and half. A bit expensive, but everything we bought was very good. We bought lavender cheddar cheese, several kinds of fromage blanc, and fresh butter- all delicious. But oh god, the smell. 500 feet from the farm we were hit with a wave of stench that was literally eye-watering. I can't justify ever returning to the farm location. Our clothing and hair reeked of cow leavings for the rest of the day, so we had to cancel other tourist activities to go home and shower. The a/c in our car still stinks days later. Ugh. Do yourself a favor and find another local store or farmstand that carries their products. read more

Great milk and the best eggnog ever! We've been buying their glass jar milk every week for well over a year and it never disappoints. Super rich and delicious. Whenever we have to buy "normal" milk it tastes like water! There's nothing like their eggnog. It's what eggnog is actually suppose to be. Having made real eggnog in the past I was pleased to find that they made a classic version. Not the sickening sweet thick sludge everyone else sells. It has basic real ingredients - the way food is suppose to be. read more

OK, I'm done with this brand. First off it's not organic but is priced higher than most organic dairy products so that's kind of a deal breaker. Today my husband brings home 6 ounces of butter that he paid 7 dollars for so I'm curious and open it up to have a taste----it's frozen and I had to drain water off of it. It expires in 6 days. I let it thaw for a taste on fresh french bread, it can't even hold a candle to the organic butter we eat routinely. I bought some of their cheese and it too was tasteless, and of course, I paid way over most organic cheeses I buy. If you want to pay 7 dollars for a cube and a half of butter you must be wealthy with no kids----but it still won't taste good. read more
