I always loved the golden plow it was someplace that was a destination we joyed going to. It had beautiful appointments, fabrics, furniture and elegance. We just went for an overnight stay paid $320 for the room and all I can say it was shabby. What happened to the jewel of peddlers Village. I've talked to two other people who are friends and they said they had the same experience. What a shame the roof needs repairing, the metal railings are unpainted, and frankly there were stains on the carpet up on the third floor. Just a shame! read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. We checked into the Golden Plough Inn on October 18th (Carousel Building, Room 412) -- only to discover bed bugs in the bed! We immediately called the front desk, completely horrified, and were told they had nothing else available. Their solution? "We can change the sheets." Seriously?! They sent a maintenance man to look, but of course he "didn't see anything." Well, that's because the bugs scattered when we turned the lights on! We asked to speak with the General Manager John Lowe and were told he wasn't in until Tuesday (October 21st) but would call us then. Spoiler alert -- he never called. We requested a full refund since there was no way we were staying there, and to this day, my credit card still hasn't been refunded. Absolutely unacceptable experience, terrible communication, and zero accountability. For a place that tries to present itself as charming and upscale, this was beyond disappointing. I think this hotel is so darling! We came for 2 nights and paid an extremely reasonable price. Our room was nice and big and came with everything we needed. Bathroom was nice, clean, and spacey. The place was updated and clean. The front desk was helpful and accommodating. We would definitely stay there again. The only complaint, which had nothing to do with the golden Plough, was that our room was above Nina's waffle place. The staff was blasting their music and slamming furniture around while cleaning up until 11:30 at night. It just made it hard to go to sleep. Conveniently located in Pedlar's Village, a lovely unique shopping area reflective of an earlier period in small town America. Small shops and restaurants. The hotel fits right in. Very nice large Victorian style rooms, but furniture and environment must be original because they are extremely worn. Electric plugs are not conveniently located for use with todays's electronic equipment. Bathroom fixtures are updated but married to the configurations of a past time. We enjoyed the area and enjoyed our stay, but next time we're in the area, we'll scout out more contemporary accommodations. read more

I simply don't understand the negative reviews. This is a wonderful inn. Our room was in the main building and it was humongous replete with a gas fireplace, a large and very comfortable bed, a sitting area and a very spacious bathroom. Included, without asking were an iron, an ironing board and a hair dryer and ample toiletries. Taylor at the front desk was very kind and informative. Check in was a breeze. The attached restaurant, "The Buttonwood Grill" did not disappoint. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service at the restaurant was excellent. We do not get an opportunity to visit the New Hope area often but the Golden Plough Inn will forever be our lodging destination of choice. read more

This is an extraordinary property, the rooms are huge, super clean and truly comfortable. From the beautiful furniture and the comfortable beds, and the clean sheets, they go above and beyond to ensure the comfort of their guests. The property is huge with all that you'll need for a great time while you are there. The grounds are immaculately manicured and beautifully decorated. Every room we had in our party included a Murphy bed in case you travel with children, and the bathrooms are huge, each with a Jacuzzi. Not that I used either of these extras but it is important to note them for prospective visitors. An overall great place to visit. read more

Be careful using Golden Plough Inn's web site to make reservations. I made reservations for 1 room for 1 night using your web site when I checked in I was told there were 2 reservations with my name. I was told the reservations were made 3 minutes apart. I only submitted the reservation once so I believed there was a computer glitch. Because I didn't cancel the 2nd reservation 2 days in advance I had to pay for a 2nd room I did not use. Otherwise the stay and room was nice. read more

As promised to Plough, I'll not grouse over an issue that arose to abort my stay because the effort in hastening to my side to address the issue and the cordial professionalism that I was treated with every step of the way was exemplary. I can't provide extensive details about a stay cut short due to an issue I cannot lay blame at Plough's feet for. I had a room with a fire place and jacuzzi neither of which I was able to use but received a full refund for. I'd always wondered about Ped Village and now that I've briefly experienced it, I have to concede it's not my cuppa. But NOT due to any failings on their part - you may love the place. Steve & his associates do not understand the "good business" policy. They speak to you in a belittling way. They have a cancellation policy, as do most hotels & Inns. Theirs is a ridiculous 96 hrs? I was lucky enough to book a 1 nite stay on a Monday, for a Saturday stay. We love New Hope, especially during the holidays. Then I got sick & called on Wednesday to cancel. Since I wasn't in the time allotted to do so to receive a refund, they said if they could book the room, then I would receive one. I asked if there was any way I could get a credit, the front desk said I would have to speak w/Steve, the mgr. Didn't hear back so I called again & this young girl talked to me like a 5 yo, explaining cancellation policies. Told her I was in customer service for 50 yrs & didn't appreciate her tone. Steve called me back on Friday & said if he gave me a credit, he would have to do it for everyone, like if someone cancelled because their dog was sick. WHAT?! Beautiful old Inn. But was very musty. Really kicked up my allergies. They do have an elevator which was nice and a nice pub. Comforter on the bed was a bit stuffy an it was the only blanket on the bed. Bathroom was very nice spacious, they have a mini fridge an Keurig coffee machine, no microwave. This place was great! We stayed here using a special package that was available on the website to celebrate our anniversary and ended up in a spacious room with a jacuzzi. We arrived in the evening and check-in was smooth. The person at the desk gave us everything we need, including a map of where the room was and where to park. The bed was soft and fluffy, the furniture was all in good condition, and everything was nice and cozy. The fireplace was turned off for the season, but that wasn't an issue because the room was already nice and warm. And we received breakfast voucher's to eat at the restaurant attached to the building where we checked-in. We had a great time and highly recommend staying here! read more

Booked a girl's "weekend" for myself, my mother and sister for my mother's birthday. I booked the room a month in advance, and clearly stated that we needed 2 queen beds for 3 adults. I wanted to present my mother with the gift of the "weekend" and the receptionist advised me to buy a gift certificate. The gift card is a visa that can be used anywhere in Peddlers Village. Ok-easy enough. I purchased a 500$ gift card. Fast forward to the actual weekend- (which was actually a Wednesday toFriday) The room we were given had no handicapped accommodation (it was up a flight of 12 stairs) My mother is 75, and cannot do this over and over again all weekend, so the check-in staff changed our room. I signed a paper statement that they gave me stating that the rate was 129/night. Again, it was a weekday stay, so they said it was 129/ night. We stayed in the "Carousel building". The room was nice enough, but the bathroom had no hard walls -just folding closet like "doors" so zero privacy while using the bathroom. The room had a queen and a Murphy bed. Upon checkout-the staff tried to charge us TRIPLE for the room (415$/night when all was said and done) and was sort of rude about it. If you cannot accommodate people with limited mobility (or handicapped people) it shouldn't be incumbent on US to pay TRIPLE in your crappy hotel. This must violate the ADA-and after stating so, they honored the 129/ night weekday prices I originally signed for in the agreement. Not only that, they charged me 800 something dollars IMMEDIATELY upon showing up at the desk. They just used the credit and and gift card without even quoting me a price. No receipt, no itemized bill. I was skeptical, and asked for a receipt-and they insisted they can only email it? That's odd. I do not recommend this hotel. The "24 hour coffee bar" is old , cold and gross. No perks to staying here except for a parking spot. Overall-not worth it. I'd never pay the weekend prices-this hotel is dated, lackluster and the employees are either all in training, or are not very interested in their jobs. read more

What a huge dissapointment...mold around smoke detector, dead bugs on the floor and a room that was so cold we took the extra blankets to cover the shuttered old windows. The staff at the desk, when we asked about the heat told us to turn it on then wait and come back. We had already had the wall unit set at 74 and after 2 hours the room was 68 so her response was condescending. The maintenance man came up looking to open vents, there were none as it was a wall unit...duh!!+ They got us a space heater, does the local fire department know? I can deal with an old building but the rude and untrained staff on top of it was awful. I got the room with the fireplace at the main inn and it was a nice spacious room, but the fireplace didn't put out any heat and it was barely lit. We had a very nice stay at the Golden Plough Inn. We were in town for a family wedding. Our initial room for the first two nights of our stay was on of the suites. Spacious, well laid out and quiet. The sofa and chairs could use a cleaning, but the bed and pillows were comfortable and the bathroom clean. We had to change rooms for the last night of our stay to a "regular" room. Again, it was very nice, spacious and clean. It has another comfortable bed and sofa. The only complaint was that we had a view and smell of the exhaust vent from the restaurant below us. The room was quiet at night and the bathroom was very clean. This room had bathrobes for our use and I always like that. Overall a great stay, I'd go back again. read more

Came to the Golden Plough on the weekend for the 2nd time with my husband. Was in the Main Inn Room. Everything was clean and pretty. I even loved that they had an extra sink next to the bathroom, which also had a vanity seat, wall mirror, and lighted pull out mirror. So nice to be able to sit down putting on my makeup. The Buttonwood Grill is attached to the hotel, and we ate there the next morning. Delicious. WE will definitely be back again very soon. We love this hotel. read more

My wife and I were very impressed with how clean and warm feeling this hotel and staff were to their guests. Our room came with a 4 post bed, delicious sheets and the most comfortable mattress...we had a nice electric foreplace which added to the homeiness of the room.....Breakfast at the Buttonwood Grill was hot and fast when delivered and tasted excellent ....the staff went out of their way to make use feel welcome. We had a great few days at the Golden Plough. I've never stayed here because I grew up in the area but now live in another state. On this trip, we were in town to celebrate a birthday for parents and being extra cautious because of COVID. Check-in was easy and fast, price was good, and location was great. I booked a night here thinking it would be a romantic getaway w/ the bf. Originally got the Superior Main Inn room, but was told that for an $50 upgrade, we would get a one bedroom suite with a Jacuzzi. Altogether the room came to just under $200, and that was apparently half off of their regular rate. The day we came, there was unfortunate weather so by the time we checked in at three the whole village was closed down. The whole place was a ghost town but nothing could be done about that. We went straight to our room which was over the carousel building. There were only 2 other cars in the lot. So the room itself had none of the charm of the rooms in the photos on their website. No four poster bed, no quaint wallpaper, and no "suite". For a one bedroom suite we literally had a small square room with a queen size bed and two nightstands. According to the website the room is supposed to be 550 ft.², with a seating area w/ couches and ottomans (shown on the proprietary website). We had NONE of that. I've seen the nice photos on TripAdvisor, where are those rooms?!! On top of that, the only way to get up to the door for the one bedroom suites was to walk up this brick ramp, and due to the bad weather it had completely iced over so that by the time we came out to scrounge for food, I almost slid right down it. My bf has to dig into a bucket that was just sitting out and salt the ramp twice before I could safely make it down to the bottom. In inclement weather, where is the grounds keeping? We still had a nice time spending quality time together, and the jacuzzi was great. But the inn itself was a huge letdown. Afterwards I called and asked about the lack of space and amenities and furniture in our room, and the guy who answered the phone said "oh next time you want to book a suite make sure you ask for a sitting area". Huh? Really? That's quite ridiculous! If I pay for something, why do I have to specify? I'm expecting to get it as part of what I paid for! This place is being run by crooks. I reserved 10 rooms for my wedding guests to put in their names. . I constantly had issues with their staff telling my guests that there were no rooms available because they were asking for "Zac's wedding block" and not "a room in Zac's name." One would think that anyone with an iota of intelligence would be able to figure that one out. But no. Come the week of the wedding the issue happened again, and when I instructed my guest that they had to ask for the room in a specific way otherwise the idiots working the front desk wouldn't know what to do, they called back and we're still informed that there were no rooms available. Later in the weekend while we were all staying there. Another person in my party (who hadn't booked one of my rooms) asked if they could extend their stay by a day and was told that there was no availability, even though I, unbeknownst to me, had a room sitting empty that was reserved through the following day. And guess what... I was still charged for a room that got unused even though multiple people guests of mine were told that there was no room available. Upon seeing the charge, I called the hotel to discuss the issue while I was on my honeymoon on 10/28 and left a message with the manager explaining the situation. A full week later, I hadn't heard back so I called again. I was told that I'd get a call back the next day when the manager came in. 5 days later I still hadn't heard back from the property, so I called again. When a manager did finally call me back, he told me that he wouldn't be refunding me the $785 that I paid for the room that went unused after my guests were told that there was no room available for them. As if this wasn't bad enough. One of my guests told me that they were woken up the following morning by security cop-knocking on another room down the hall and absolutely screaming at the occupant. I've never experienced anything like this before. It's straight up robbery. Neither the Golden Plough or any of the business occupying Peddlers Village will receive another penny of my money again. read more

Flew into town with my husband and daughter for a wedding and reserved one room at the Golden Plough Inn with 2 queens beds. We are coming from California which is 3 hours behind than east coast time. We requested to be able to sleep just a little longer and the front desk said, "Unfortunately, we cannot honor that request at this time, as someone else is booked to stay in that room. Meanwhile, my daughter ended up sleeping over her aunts house and we only used one bed, there was no shampoo or conditioner so no point in showering here. Honestly would take 10 minutes to change the sheets and take out the trash. There are no other guests here. I took pics of the empty parking lot as they have you park by room number. read more

I've been here about 4 or 5 times already with the wife and we enjoy every trip we take. It's turning into our little annual anniversary getaway place. Just booked us for a suite July 17-18. We enjoy the in room jacuzzi and the fact that we can walk around and have our adult beverages and not have to worry about driving anywhere else for meals or shopping. Every little shop we go to we're always greeted by the staff with a warm welcoming smile throughout the village and enjoy a delicious meal at Earls for dinner. The hotel staff is friendly and do their best to accommodate any special requests we might have. For a weekend away from the city life this Hotel and attached village have everything you could possibly need. Look forward to being back in a few weeks. read more

Stayed there for two days this week. Jul. 25 through the 27th. Our second time here and it was just as good as the first. Room was clean and the hotel was nice and quiet. A peaceful place to go and getaway. The hotel staff was friendly and accommodating. If your an early riser they have coffee in the main lobby. We had breakfast both mornings at the Buttonwood and it was nice. The bar at the Buttonwood is a little gem. We had the SW Burger and the meatloaf which was mixed with sausage, EXCELLENT! Terrible ownership and a huge rip off. I found out at 4:30PM on Tuesday that my travel plans changed and I immediately called this hotel to cancel my Saturday night reservation(4 days notice). I was told by the front desk that the cancellation cutoff was four days in advance by 3pm and I would be charged the full amount. I called four days in advance at 4:45! They said they can't help me and are charging me the full $400(cheapest room available). This is totally unacceptable and completely unethical. I would avoid giving these people business. read more

After a hectic time in our lives, my husband and I decided to take a quick getaway to relax and unwind. The Golden Plough Inn was recommended to us by friends and we happily booked the Earl's package. When we got there, we walked around the quaint shopping village. All of our purchases were food related, and being foodies, we were very satisfied. For lunch we visited the Cock and Bull restaurant and both enjoyed our sandwiches. I had the roast turkey and cranberry sandwich. I am usually unhappy after ordering any turkey item, but this sandwich proved me wrong. The turkey on the sandwich was as good as my mother's on Thanksgiving. Our room package included free dinner at Earl's. My husband raved about the wasabi steamed dumplings as an appetizer and the prime rib special. I had the New York strip as a meal. Everything, from service to food preparation/quality, was impeccable. A (small) complimentary bottle of wine and the free breakfast voucher for 2 were a nice touch. We really enjoyed our stay here, but if you are looking for nightlife, it was dead quiet around 9:30. Exactly what we were hoping for! read more

This was an overall disappointing experience. It was our one year anniversary and due to covid our original plans got turned upside down. So we decided to try Peddlers Village for a quick getaway and to enjoy the beautiful Christmas scenery. The room was okay, the amenities were nice - a jacuzzi and fireplace. I was disappointed that the room was on the other side of the village away from the lights. My husband called in advanced and let them know it was a special occasion and they had plenty of available rooms. After first use, our toilet kept running and started overflowing. We immediately called the front desk and the girl was panicked. She showed up to our room with towels and a plunger. They had no maintenance member available or housekeeping and she threw towels down over the floor and left. Quite disgusting. We wore shoes anytime we had to use the bathroom. In addition there was a hole in the ceiling and the room was just okay in terms of cleanliness. This room was $400 a night and just so overpriced. In addition they sold us the "breakfast package" for $25. First, the price of breakfast a la carte would have been the same so it's no "deal". And they don't offer delivery to your room. Listen, I know the pandemic has certainly made things challenging, but if you're still going to charge $400 a night for a room, I don't think it's crazy to expect the same level of service and experience. A lot of businesses have had to make adjustments and accommodations due to covid, yet peddlers village still charges their $400 a night with no consideration for what the guests are missing out on. We brought up our issues to the front desk and they did not seem apologetic for our experience. They took a minimal amount off of their overpriced room and their service was completely underwhelming. Even when we initially arrived, it felt like we were bothering the people at the front desk. They weren't warm of welcoming. Overall, for a relaxing, night away, it just was not what we expected. While the lights are beautiful, we would never waste our money to stay there overnight again. It's a great day trip for a family, but the accommodations are not worth staying overnight. read more
