I was in a pinch!! My EPC light came on and my Beetle was skipping and at times loosing power.....A dealership gave me the run around and would not tell me when they could put my car on the diagnostic machine let alone when they would work on it. I even made an appointment! The first time I spoke with Elaine, she was professional, nice, and ver reassuring. She gave me a date to bring my car in, worked around my work schedule, and had my Beetle ready. I was able to bring my car and take her home on the same day! My experience with this business was horrible. I towed my truck to Golden Rule Automotive on July 26, 2023 and picked it up on August 10, 2023, almost 3 weeks later and my vehicle was not repaired or given a diagnosis. There was no communication from Golden Rule Automotive, I did all the calling. I would call them and received a promise of a call back before the close of business multiple times and it did not happen. The receptionist was always uninformed about what was happening with my vehicle. She would tell me that a ticket was open, but she could not see what was happening. Over the course of the repair three different people were supposedly assigned to work on my vehicle. I had my vehicle towed to another auto center, and it was repaired the next day. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. I should have read some of the reviews before I went there but it was an emergency repair. The reviews are correct, they never call you and when you call them there is always additional repairs needed. I to my great driving car in for a starter (ONLY) and every time I call or went there there were additional problem and the price keep going up. I finally took my car from them with a major air leak, check engine light on and the car limping. I had to tow it 30 miles to my regular mechanic and still pay the original price. I can tell you friends that there is no better place to take your cars for repairing. They are very reasonable in price and thorough in their repairs. They diagnosed my electrical system and completely rewired it because my tail lights including brake lights and turning signals didn't work. They also installed a AM-FM with CD/DVD radio for me and all works great on my 1998 Jeep Wrangler. They are the best around even if you don't live that close to Covington Ga they're worth the drive. Very professional and friendly company with certified mechanics. We just moved here a few weeks ago and I can tell you they are the only ones that will service my vehicles in the future. read more

Don't waste your time you'll just get ripped off I took my new 2011 hyundai Sonata there for it's second oil change. That taught me a hard lesson ,,, They stripped the oil pan plug. I noticed a huge puddle of oil in my garage floor the next morning. They lied saying they didn't do it, but they'd put a retro fit repair kit in it. I refused to accept thier hap hazard repair,,, so I took it back to the Hyundai dealer for the proper repair Golden Rule stripped my oil plug then lied about it I don't think I'll be a customer at "Golden Rule " ever again. . My headlights stopped working and I am new in town and so I needed to find a honest mechanic. I read the yelp reviews on this place and decided to give it a shot and WOW!!! They fixed my headlights for free!! I had some lose wiring that was causing the issue and they tightened it back up and I was outta there in 20 min. They could've charged me for labor or diagnostic but they didn't. I'm super impressed. They could've sold me a new bulb or charged me to replace the sockets and I wouldn't have known any better. They gave me a very generous price estimate for the repairs and some advice about when to come in again and get it all ship-shape. Very friendly service and also very efficient. I had my car towed here because it had good reviews. They charged me $73 for the "diagnostic", only to tell me that the engine was blown and I needed to get a new one. Total fraud. There was nothing wrong with my engine. It was the AC pulley. But why diagnose a problem that's a fifth of the cost, right? Don't get ripped off, don't take your car here. read more

I work in Covington,GA. Last week I took my car to Golden Rule to get a tune-up. The next day I went to pick it up. The total was $520 for a tune-up. They replaced the spark plugs and air filter. (So it says on the invoice, but not sure they did)I replaced the air filter less than a month ago. They had to be able to tell that it didn't need to be changed. It says on the invoice that they put in a Lucas fuel treatment, which I could of done. Monday morning when I went to start my car to go to work it wouldn't start. Three days after I picked it up from GOLDEN RULE. The battery had so much corrosion that I had to go get cleaner and a brush. They couldn't see that? Or they just didn't care? Last night I went to church and after it wouldn't start again. NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE GOLDEN RULE AND NOR WILL THE COMPANY I WORK FOR. We were taking company trucks there, but not anymore. read more

My husband takes his car to have an oil change. Week later we notice a strange sound coming from under the hood each time we hit a bump. My husband takes a look under the hood and you would not believe these guys has left tools that they used to change the oil underneath the hood. Thank God the tools did not fall into the engine!!! With my vehicle they never top-up the fluids even if you ask them to. The manager has a nasty attitude and is very rude. Golden rule was suggested to me for car repairs. 9 trips cost me $3,200.00 with no repairs. AC unit. Change new parts for new parts. Nothing. Car stalled. Replaced position sensor. Did not fix. Took my car back to Atlanta to fix what had been paid to Golden Rule. Now it runs great AC and running. Golden rule seems to just replace parts hoping it is the right part. The mechanics must work on commission. They will do something. Right or Wrong. They took $3200 of my money with nothing in return. read more

I love these guys. They charge only $25 for an oil change. I took my truck in because the engine light was going on. They spent all day doing every kind of test and couldn't find anything--so they didn't charge me. The light is still going on, but the truck is running great. read more

Golden Rule (Carl) advised that repairs would cost me over $800, but that they would 'discount' the charge to about $750 because of AAA membership. That afternoon, I consulted another shop where the fix cost me a total of $160. Huge difference! Sorely disappointed in Golden Rule Automotive. Treat others as you want to be treated... Really?? I am absolutely appalled at the way Paul and the employees of Golden Rule do business. My car was dropped off by the tow company on Friday night. I called on Saturday morning to let them know not to do ANY work on the vehicle until my warranty company approved the work. Due to poor customer service and lack of communication I opted to have my vehicle sent to another repair center. Paul "guilted" me into leaving it at GRA because the had already "looked" at it and knew the problem. On 8/25/14 an inspector from my warranty company was supposed to look at my car, but was cancelled because @ 12:30 that day, Paul "refused" to allow the inspector to come look at my car. When my warranty company, the car lot that I purchased my car from, and their service center called and informed Paul that my car would be picked up from GRA they asked was there any monies owed to them, they were told there was nothing owed. This morning 8/26/14 when the tow driver arrived to pick up my car they were then told that monies were owed and the car could not and would not be released. This in turn putting the repairs to my car further behind than they already are. I would never recommend this business to anyone, anywhere, under any circumstances. I would hire Billy Bob the backyard redneck mechanic before I would EVER consider using GRA for anything! read more

The worst service ever! First I go in to have the clutch replaced and they messed up my manual transmission, thankgoodness(NOT) that they are willing to fix their mess up and it only takes them 3 weeks!! Then when I get my car back it had a knocking sound and a dent in the door. Nice right so I figure out the knocking sound was a lose oil pan, great hu? They are rude to women completely and one guy said under his breath to another guy that I overheard women have no reason to even look under the hood. Look buddy women have equal rights look it up and the fact that I was the one that pointed out you messed up my transmission, found the knocking sound that you couldn't figure out and the dent in my door you don't seem like a very "golden rule" type of person or business!! Overpriced! It took them 3 times to figure out what was wrong with my car. I was waiting FOREVER!

My husband brought our vehicle here for a check engine light. They diagnosed the vehicle then repaired it. "So we thought". The same evening the light was back on. We could not bring the vehicle back for another week due to schedule conflicts. When we did bring it back they stated the vehicle pulled the same code they had already fixed previously & 2 other codes. They would need to re-diagnose the vehicle for an additional fee. I said, No thanks I went to pick up the vehicle. We brought the vehicle to another Mechanic & they stated our vehicle was pulling dealer codes & we needed to take it to the dealer. They did not charge us anything. We took our vehicle to the dealer & we are currently having a new engine put in our vehicle. That is covered under our warranty. What this shop supposedly fixed on our vehicle & charged us for was a completely unnecessary repair & did nothing to help us. It is just sad that Clearly this shop would have kept having us come back & charging us more fees for something they could not fix. Had they been honest & upfront we would have used this shop for other repairs. We are very disappointed as a good friend recommended this shop. read more
