I learned what it meant to have virtue. The teachers are the best people you will ever meet. Their joy and wonder for life and learning inspires me to this day. However, this school is not for the weak of heart. It takes grit and determination to do well with their classical education. But if you commit, you will learn what it truly means to be human. My love for learning flourished as did my love for the world around me. I will send my kids here one day. And hopefully be apart of the Golden View family forever.

In the elementary school, students are taught to read using an explicit phonics program with a focus on grammar and spelling, along with cursive handwriting. Saxon and Singapore math are strategically sequenced to take advantage of the strengths of each program. An early exposure to Latin and Greek roots is followed by a formal Latin sequence in grades 6-9 in order to enhance the student's vocabulary, spelling, and command of the English language. The teachers tend to be republican along with many of the students however very few teachers make their views known to students besides the occasional slip up. The teachers for 7th and 8th are not the best but after that it tends to get better. One problem some might have is the closed campus. While there being a closed campus on its own is not bad the food there isn't good at all. Your only option to get a good meal is to make your own lunch and bring it to school but that isn't always an option. Also if you want to be able to spend time with your child then don't send them to develyn as the work load is over the top with the principal saying that 3 hours of homework should be the norm. Overall, if your child does not cope with stress well do not send them here. In the end I don't think that this school is right for most people.

The teachers, admin, and staff all know my kids by name and make them feel seen. We are really happy with the academics, and our test scores are significantly higher than the Colorado average. I love how the school feels like a community. We feel like the rules and dress code are reasonable, and they are there to help the kids thrive in life and the learning environment. We also love their sports and fine arts programs. My kids are involved in both, and they have had amazing experiences. If you are looking for a Christian worldview paired with a great education, we would highly recommend it.

If you were thinking about joining the choir program at Ralston Valley, think again and join it at any other school. The current choir teacher at Ralston Valley picks favorites and defends mean girl behavior. She cares more about her and the Ralston Valley choir programs image than the well being of her students. The administration at this school is also horrendous. They do absolutely nothing about bullying and make up excuses to defend the bullies, just like the choir teacher.

Jeffco has failed its staff repeatedly, denying them adequate medical care and fair compensation, leaving them on the brink of homelessness. But beyond that, they've failed your children. If you're a parent, you may want to reconsider sending your child to this school, as it's clear the principal couldn't care less if a student drops dead in the halls. Are you prepared to tota;;y TRUST your child? To allow him/her to learn what interests him/her…read morerather than be force-fed some cookie-cutter, culturally ignorant curriculum? Just imagine, at AVS your child can speak, eat, learn, and use the bathroom whenever THEY choose to. There's no bullying or any of the other regular shenanigans other schools have. Imagine dropping your child off ANYTIME in a 2 hr. window and pick-up has the same flexibility at the end of the day. AVS is a place that practices TRUE restorative justice by requiring students to be active members in their weekly judiciary committee making students continuously aware of their connection to the school and their personal ownership/role within it. Student after student has come into AVS from a public or charter school setting and has truly bloomed into a self-aware, self-directed, and self-educated individual. Ironically, 9/10 it's the parents who struggle with AVS and allowing their child the same freedom and trust that AVS does. Truly trusting your child to learn and grow on their own takes patience, courage, and, most of all, trust.
