These days, it's a bit hard to tell if the photo is of a hair coloring or haircut service, but after much research on Yelp and Instagram, I was able to narrow down my top choices and ended up booking a haircut appointment with Abby Brown ($80). The salon is thoughtfully decorated and was giving boho vibes. Upon check-in, they asked if I parked in the garage since they have a parking validation QR code, and if I wanted anything to drink. I was surprised they offered wine, and the white wine I got was the perfect level of sweetness for me. After being seated, Abby came over and started our consultation, asking me what I had in mind and gave me recommendations on my bangs. I have thin, flat hair, so we went with a long layered hairstyle with curtain bangs. Afterwards, she walked me to the back to the shampoo area. Like everyone else, I loved the shampoo area--it's dark green and moody with chill music and fake plants hanging from the ceiling, so you feel like you're laying in nature. It's super tranquil, especially when the scalp massage starts. I liked the Davines products they used; my scalp had a light tingling sensation and felt really clean, and the all-in-one milk made my hair smell so good. We walked back to the chair and she confirmed the length before she started cutting away. She took her time, making sure both sides were even. When she was close to finishing, she asked me how I wanted my hair styled. I went with the blowout since it was quicker and it looked like the reference pictures I showed her. Abby knows how to work a round brush with the Dyson blow dryer and really accentuated all the layers she gave me. It was pouring when I was done with my haircut, so they were nice enough to let me out through the back door that leads to the garage where my husband picked me up. This was my first time at Golden Soul and my soul literally felt nourished here. It was an honor to have my hair done by Abby who was so sweet and attentive to my service and needs. She took time to hear my hair vision and offered suggestions based on my ideas. I chose a full balayage plus a very needed cut. I also got curtain bangs for the first time! It took about 5 hours but I LOVED how my hair turned out!! The salon itself is so aesthetically pleasing, offering an airy vibe with plants and even a zen/meditation hair washing room with plants on the ceiling. Parking is free/validated for 4.5 hours which is nice. NOTE: If your service does exceed that time you will be charged after that time frame. My review of the Salon overall: Golden Soul has such a cool vibe inside! I love all the plants and natural light throughout the salon. I thought the hair dryers above the chairs were pretty cool and convenient. The receptionist and all of the stylists were super friendly & trendy. One of my favorite features was the shampoo area. It has low lighting and relaxing essential oil diffusers. When you lay back to get your hair washed you're also receiving the best scalp/hair massage of your life! I was so lucky to have found this salon during my visit to Austin.
