I have never tried this location and finally got the opportunity yesterday. It is located in a strip mall right off of El Camino Real. Parking is abundant with Sprouts and all of the other businesses that are located there. The person who waited on us was friendly and helpful. He explained the process, grab a cup, fill it with yogurt and toppings, don't eat over by the toppings, weigh your cup, and pay. The location is clean, sterile, lighting was moody. There are a few tables and chairs inside. There are plenty of delicious frozen yogurt flavors to choose from including a sugar free option, and some other "healthier" options. I chose the peanut butter, chocolate, and cookies & cream flavors. Mixed them all in and then added M&Ms, cheese cake bites, peanut butter cup topping, dark chocolate chips and a few other mix-ins and topped it all off with chocolate sauce. My cup weighed 2.14 ounces and the cost was $15 or $16. Seems kind of pricey, but it was good, and a nice treat after eating a big lunch at a hot pot place. Enjoy my photos. read more

I tried the quart size froyo! I was able to pick 3 flavors. Pineapple, original tart, Georgia peach! The pineapple was really good, it was very smooth. The original tart flavor was different from the other spots I have tried. It was more sour. I wasn't able to taste any of the peach, it probably mixed with the other flavors. read more

This location used to be a self serve, single price per cup including toppings which I loved....they have now switched to selling by weight like so many other locations which was disappointing. When we entered just before 8pm on a Friday night we were the only ones in the store. The worker was in the back and took a long time to come to the front. I tried several samples, made my cup, added toppings, and still beat him to the register. Several of their machines were closed but we did all agree that the salted caramel and peanut butter were very good flavors and golden spoon is rather creamy for yogurt (but no golden spoons, just white). By the time we left, the place was packed. If I was close by I might return but wouldn't go out of my way now that they are priced per ounce. read more

The guy working is always super friendly and helpful and makes coming here fun for my kids. If it weren't for him, we would try other places, but huge shout out when you get friendly service. Ahhh...the good old days. Golden Spoon used to be everywhere in San Diego. I remember when they used to sell their frogurt by the cup size. Now they sell by weight. One thing that hasn't changed is their delicious flavors of frogurt. I chose Passion Orange Guava (POG). The sweet and tangy tropical flavor was just what I needed after a long walk on the beach. I love golden spoon, even before they started charging per weight instead of by cup size. They have shaved ice right now and I was lucky to get the Ube shaved ice before the machine stopped working. It was just what I was looking for, for a dessert. The texture was light and fluffy and the perfect sweetness to my liking. It also had one of my favorite toppings for cold desserts, fruity pebbles. The girl that was working that day was really sweet. She let us have a cup of ice cream to replace the shave ice that we couldn't get before the machine stopped working. I love this place! I usually end up going to yogurtland because it is the most common, but we stopped in here and was so surprised! Compared to yogurtland I really enjoy the taste of their tart flavor. The fruits are always extremely fresh and look like they had just been prepared. The shop is also extremely clean which I really appreciate. I think it's so clean because the owner seems to be there, vs a lot of kids at yogurtland. The guy in charge is up front near the door behind plexiglass guarding the cups. He was nice but trying too hard. There are a couple mightily tables near the front but you probably don't want to hang here. The rest is the space is empty except for the yogurt machines and toppings bar. Flavors were pretty boring, they had vanilla, chocolate, pistachio, salted caramel, cake batter, passion fruit orange guava (the only one I liked), peanut butter, and a couple others. This place has gone downhill. I went here for yogurt and gummy bears and strawberries, no gummy bears, no strawberries, and the topping cart was moving all around super dangerous. The girl "working" the front was texting when I arrived, no welcome or hi, when I asked if they had gummy bears she sober in the corner rolling her eyes. Thank you Sung! I've been going here for over 20 years and have always loved the frozen yogurt, but young unattentive employees were just part of the package. Sometimes they were in the back so long we'd have to wait 10 minutes or call for them to come out. They'd chat about their personal lives while ringing you up and it sort of made you realize customers were an interruption to them. I cant even remeber the last time I saw an actual adult working or supervising this place. But for the past year or more Ive noticed a completely different level of customer service from a young man who tonight told me his name was Sung. I almost wonder if he is the new owner or manager...Im not sure but he runs the place as if he owns it. He greated us in a way that made it seem he was genuinly happy to serve us. I asked for lids- he had lids, napkins, spoons, and a perfectly sized box to carry out all my yogurts, all neatly set aside for me when I was done self-serving. In the few seconds between customers he is wiping down and cleaning and as soon as someone walks in he is quick to greet from a distance as he stops what he's doing to ring them up. Wow, we haven't been to this location since they renovated. For some reason I feel like there is wasted space inside. They could use a few more tables and chairs inside. There is some outdoor seating. The customer service was excellent, very helpful and friendly. Because it was Mother's Day when we visited the employee was kind enough to give a discount for the mother of our group. The place is very clean, and they were on top of it when there was an area that needed to cleaned up. I would return if I were in the area. read more

Love Golden Spoon! Their yogurt is always so thick, creamy and delicious. Unlike other froyo places that charge you by the ounce, Golden Spoon charges you by size of the cup and you can fill it with as much yogurt and toppings ($1 extra) as you want! However, service can be better. We came in at about 8:45PM and they close at 10PM. There was absolutely no one in there. Not even the cashier. Cashier came out from the back and rang us up. Even though the place was still open for another hour, they had already started cleaning and packing up some things. Yogurt dispensers were all lined with towel paper. Serving spoons were missing from the toppings area and a worker was emptying out trash and leaving the liners out so no one can throw anything away. Actually walked around the place for a bit until I was able to find a small trash can to throw my cup away. You can just feel how eager they were to leave and it made me feel rushed. It was a Friday night. I understand they want to go home and start the weekend but it was just a bit unprofessional considering they were open for another hour with customers coming through the door. read more

Pretty much your typical froyo place except, you pay for the size of the cup upfront and then put all your froyo and toppings after instead of the other way around where you pay based on the total weight of your order. Because of that, I like to go with the mini cup and just put as much froyo and toppings I can without it falling. They've got a few froyo options to choose from which are all good and they have 2 tables specifically for the toppings. Today I went with the classic, vanilla with rainbow sprinkles. I haven't been to golden spoon in a long time, and when I notified to was a selfie serve, with a variety of toppings I was pretty exciting. It is a set price but you can load up as much idea cream and toppings as you can in your cup. It was more clean than munchies, and there wasn't a billion kids running around, so that was definitely a plus. The froyo was delicious. I serve myself the Salted Carmel, and brownie. Delicious. At the time of this review, this place only has three and a half stars. I'm not sure why that is...every time we come here, the yogurt is great and the variety is plentiful. We go to Menchies on a regular basis and this place is almost identical, aside from the sparse decor. The staff is helpful and polite and I always leave with a smile on my face. NO NO NO! What happened Golden Spoon?! Golden Spoon has always been my favorite Fro-Yo no matter what new Fro-Yo has emerged! I always kept coming back for their Heath Bar fro-yo even though I don't like the actual candy! Honestly no matter what flavor you get, they all have a smooth taste and doesn't taste super tangy like most frozen yogurts do. However, they completely changed and have turned it inside out, and conformed to the new fad, self-serve. Not only did the prices go up, but the containers are small and you serve yourself. Anyone who has gone to Golden Spoon before, the fro-yo people would do it for you which was wonderful because they had the special touch and made them sky high! Now I'm not such a big fan anymore. Costs more, self-serve so ultimately you don't get as much, and the cups are smaller. At least they still do the Stamp Card and after 10 stamps, you get a free fro-yo. read more

The people who work here are super efficient and friendly. Maybe it's just this location, but, almost every time I am here, they seem to have to put up with a super duper demanding customer. I've seen some of the ladies who come here behave like totally mean "WORD(rhymes with stitches)" to the counter staff. Why so much drama for frozen milk?! Been doing a lot of dessert places as of late. Usually this is confined to a few choice FroYo joints near my house, but there had been a couple of coupons for Golden Spoon in my wallet for over a year and every once in a while I find it necessary to thin the herd of gift cards down to a level where I can sit comfortably again with my billfold in my back pocket. So, we came to Golden Spoon with a buy one, get one free coupon. Don't let the 2-Star rating fool you, Golden Spoon is quite delicious, with fresh and tasty yogurt and a great selection of toppings. Normally, this place should be 4-Stars or maybe even 5 with the right service and the perfect blend of goodies. But that cost for everything ... it's one thing to pay much more for high quality dining; I have no problem with that. It's just that you get pretty much the same level of everything here that you would at places like Yogurtland; and Golden Spoon costs about twice as much. I still need to give them props for the good things. Their frozen yogurt choices are always yummy. A nice range of fruit flavors to saltier fare, like caramel pecan and such, and down to the decadent dark chocolates. Nothing ever has that strong artificial taste like Swirls has and each bite is clean. Their toppings are kept relatively tidy, though I have caught a few times where things are getting mixed without anyone taking care of the mess. But, they have great choices like crumbled Heath Bars, Fruity Pebbles, and Captain Crunch; I don't think I've ever seen a better array of toppings. Then, there's the bad side that drags them down. First, rare is the occasion I ever see more than one employee out front, and typically everyone always seems to be hiding in the back. You generally don't have to wait long for someone to come out the door to help, but during the long spans of time that no one is at the register, you get the impression that no cleaning is getting done and/or that the workers just don't care. And second, there is that high price tag. Again, Yogurtland is essentially just as good with almost as good topping selection for half the price. Even with our buy one, get one coupon, the bill was still over $6 for two small cups. If we had weighed them for cost elsewhere, the tag probably wouldn't have topped out much higher $3.50. And when you have friends and family that enjoy a small spot of froyo at the end of the day, that cost can add up fast even for those who don't pinch pennies. This wouldn't be a problem if Golden Spoon was mindbogglingly better than everyone else, but as it stands now, we gave the rest of our coupons away without complaint or reservation. read more

I really didn't care either way honestly, I just wanted a cup! There was literally only about 4 flavors. No fresh toppings, maybe because they're included now.
