Vanilla ice cream and red bean Taiyaki
KayAnna S.

Love having a Taiyaki option so close to home, but it's dangerous too because of how good it is! While I do love what I typically order, I have tried a few things that I haven't particularly enjoyed here, but again it's never something I would order in the first place. For example their vanilla ice cream tastes a little watery, but there are just too many interesting flavors for me to try that I wouldn't even think of vanilla. To each their own! At my most recent visit, I ordered the green tea ice cream with a custard filled Taiyaki. My friend ordered the vanilla ice cream with the red bean Taiyaki. We tried to order a Nutella filled Taiyaki by itself on the side, but they confused my order with wanting Nutella instead of custard, so I ended up with just Nutella. Overall my green tea ice cream was absolutely fantastic. Hands down would order this everytime. The Nutella taiyaki was delicious too, but would love to try the custard one in the future. My friend and I didn't like their vanilla ice cream (as described above), but their red bean Taiyaki was perfect. Make sure to come here for a sweet treat pick me up and clarify your order better than I did!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cute place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was average. It was a little wait for only 1 order in front of us. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is small and quite warm.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The ice cream was good. We'll come back when in the area to try other flavors.

Matcha ice cream and Nutella taiyaki

Pretty good dessert spot with quick and friendly service. The Nutella-filled taiyaki was delicious--the waffle batter was rich and well made. The matcha ice cream was just okay; a bit too sweet and lacking that distinct matcha flavor. Overall, a solid dessert experience. Next time, I'd probably stick with the taiyaki and skip the ice cream.

I got the matcha flavor and it was so good. It didn't taste artificial and it has just the right amount of sweetness. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The store itself was very cute[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]], the person who took our order was very friendly, and overall I would visit this place again.

The family and I came here for dessert. There were a good amount of people here on a Sunday evening around 6:45 pm. You will have to find street parking. We ordered the following: - Taro Horchata Taiyaki - Pistachio Rolled Ice Cream - (2) Kit Kat Rolled Ice Cream I enjoyed the Taro Horchata Taiyaki, but my partner thought it was too sweet. The Pistachio rolled ice cream had a sweet and salty flavor. The kiddos liked their Kit Kat rolled ice cream as well but one of our kiddos enjoyed my taro horchata more lol and they probably should've shared their ice cream since they got the same thing. The place is a decent sized dessert place where you can sit and eat your ice cream if there is space. The workers were friendly. It can be entertaining to watch them create the rolled ice cream. You can get to go covers if you don't finish your ice cream. Good overall dessert experience that cost around $39 plus tip for 4.

This popular ice cream place is located on the busy Mission Avenue street. It's an easy walk from Oceanside pier. It was pretty busy on a Sunday evening. We came here after dinner. The exterior and interior had fun ocean art. There are tall tables to sit at but it's mostly for takeout. Because they were busy, we weren't greeted when we came in. We stood at the cashier ready to order but again because they were busy the cashier was making ice cream too. There seemed to be only 2 staff working today. My hubby and I shared a small rolled strawberry with crushed oreos on top. It took awhile for them to make it. It is all made to order and there were people ahead of us. The ice cream was good. It's rolled ice cream. Nothing that made me dream of coming back. The prices are high but standard for rolled ice cream.

Handal's line was long so we decided to try this place. Takes a while to make (aka roll) but it was good.

The menu board

The ice cream was fine. If you like ice cream made with hate. The menu was confusing apparently Cap'n Crunch is a flavor tho it is separated in the menu board to where it should be a topping. The girl here at 5 o clock on Wednesday was condescending for not understanding the menu but did nothing to help explain it. She also seemed like we were annoying her for existing in the establishment. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's no wonder we were the only people here.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Awful service.

Food (5/5 stars): Fugu Rolled Ice Cream & Taiyaki is a great dessert spot in Oceanside! This was my first time trying rolled ice cream, and I really enjoyed it! I loved its unique texture and the Cookie Monster flavor was a great call. I'll be back to try their other flavors and Taiyaki! Experience (5/5 stars): * Price: slightly pricey * Wait Time: minimal * Service: good * Parking: street parking can be difficult * Ambiance: it's a simple store

Yay, finally tried the fish cone! Green tea matcha and vanilla soft serve, plus red bean filling, was probably the best thing I could've ordered to fully enjoy this place. It hit the spot for me! I grew up eating red bean paste in pastries and ice cream so to have it in North County brings a smile to my face. I was a little confused with the menu - vegan options are only for rolled ice cream, but not soft serve. The filling is inside the fish cone. I really don't see how eating ice cream in the fish cone by itself is manageable, so their recommended bowl seems to be the only way to go, but good luck if you try the cone solo. The cone is like a waffle cone. They also sell taiyaki with filling by itself - they call it "closed" taiyaki. Our ice cream came out after rolled ice cream orders, whom ordered after us, and it seemed to be that the soft serve was not thick enough for serving yet. We got there around noon. We were patient and thanked for waiting the long wait. I enjoyed it and will come again. There's seating inside.

Craving ice cream while walking around in Oceanside downtown? There are three primary options Fugu, ColdStone, and Handle's. Fugu is more conveniently located and has more Asian flavored/style ice cream. Handles and ColdStone are more traditional American flavors. The cones are fish shaped and made fresh. More like waffles. Definitely recommend trying if you like nice light texture ice cream.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Excellent service and atmosphere![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The ice cream was Fugutastic! #FuguIceCream #buzzybooth

We were around Oceanside for dinner and wanted to wrap up with some desserts. Found this place right across and there was a long wait line. I immediately checked the reviews to be prepared and every review mentioned they take 20-30mins and are kind of slow. We knew what to expect and waited for 20 min to place an order and another 20 min to get the order. They have two kinds of menu rolled ice cream and teyiaki soft serve. Rolled ice cream takes longer and Teyiaki is a little faster. We went with chocolate hazelnut for rolled ice cream and mango with Mexican caramel filling for the Teyiaki. They are slow because this ice cream is not premade, it's made fresh and takes time. However, they probably can have more people working. Anyhow, the soft serve is really good and we enjoyed the rolled ice-cream too. The presentation was nice but didn't like the whipped cream or the syrups, the ice-creams in itself was pretty good. The pricing is alright, but the service needs work.

On Mother's Day, they gave away a mini bouquet of flowers and a pint of ice cream. Unfortunately, I wasn't one of the first ten that also got a nice glass jar to store goodies in. I did see some people walk about with just the freebies and that was kind of annoying to see. I think they should have at least purchased something. They should have restricted the freebies to customers only. I ended up gifting the free non-vegan option to my mother (she loved it) and my hubby bought me a vegan pint for myself. Inside there is no seating but they have 2 benches outside. While there is a small parking lot in the back, the parking lot gets full quickly and street parking can be tricky. Their ice cream is really tasty and they even decorate your ice cream with extra toppings like sprinkles and vegan marshmallows. This is one of our new favorite ice cream shops!

Some of the flavors sounded a little unexpected at first, but every one we tried was delicious and thoughtfully crafted. You can tell they put a lot of care into creating flavors that are both fun and memorable. My personal favorite was the Banana Pancake flavor. It perfectly captured the comforting taste of a warm stack of pancakes and bananas, with just the right balance of sweetness. It was rich, creamy, and perfectly flavored like chocolate chip banana pancakes. My boyfriend had the Three Strikes flavor, which is a creamy peanut butter with peanut brittle, it was also delicious. We tried both flavors together and they both went really well together. The shop itself has a welcoming atmosphere, and the rotating selection of flavors makes it a place you'll want to visit more than once. If you're in Oceanside and looking for something beyond the typical ice cream shop, Little Fox is definitely worth stopping by. Whether you're feeling adventurous or just want a great scoop of ice cream, you're likely to find a flavor you'll love.

I would happily make questionable life decisions for another scoop of it. But honestly, what made this experience stand out wasn't just the gelato--it was Venezia. Huge shoutout to her for being so patient while we stood there completely incapable of making a decision. Instead of rushing us, she took the time to help us figure out what flavors we actually wanted and gave us recommendations that absolutely did not miss. She was incredibly sweet, genuinely welcoming, and made the whole experience so much better. And listen, this place is about an hour drive for me. An HOUR. Yet I'm already planning my return trip because the quality of the gelato and the service made it 100% worth it. If you're anywhere near this place, do yourself a favor and stop by. The gelato is ridiculously creamy, packed with flavor, and made with the kind of quality you can taste immediately. Dare I say it... the creaminess might even be better than An's Gelato . 10/10. As soon as you walk through the entrance gate, you are transported to a lovely tea garden. We did make reservations ahead as it is reservation only. Rushell greeted us and we were quickly seated. We chose the La Dolce Vita Tea Experience. We were able to sniff the tea leaves first in individual test tubes which absolutely helped me pick my tea. I loved that experience! Once everything was selected, we were brought out our teas and salads. The salad was refreshing and I especially enjoyed the fresh tomatoes, garbanzo beans, and house vinaigrette. I had the Eiffel tea and absolutely loved it. I typically prefer black teas with either hints of floral or fruit notes and this tea had the perfect combination. We were then given our individual towers/ tea tiers which consisted of three sandwiches (smoked salmon pinwheels, apple Brie melt, and Prosciutto, Feta And Balsamic Fig Sandwich) of our choosing, a cranberry orange cake scone with creme Fraîche and strawberry preserves, and a trio of desserts (lemon cake with blueberries, petite four, and a rosemary shortbread). I honestly loved everything I ordered. I loved the cake scone as it was very moist and the sandwiches were all divine with powerful flavors in each bite. I didn't love the creme fraîche, as I prefer clotted cream with my scones, but it does offer a great break from sweetness of the cake scone. I especially enjoyed how toasted the Apple Brie melt was. I love short breads and petite fours, so I'm a bit biased but they were my favorite desserts. Not only did we have a lovely time due to the atmosphere, tea, and delicious food, but we thoroughly enjoyed Rushell herself! She was so welcoming and shared so much with us.
