The prices are always fair and the selection is like no other in the Bay Area. I have a particular interest in bookcases and shelves to house a growing book collection. At GCSA I've discovered a number of wonderful European 19th and 20th century classic items to display our collections, as well as beautiful oriental rugs, art pieces and practical household items. I recently went to their February artisan food fairs, and bought some delicious food products. They had a variety of food vendors: hot sauces, honey, dips, cookies, teas, and more. As for the craft fairs, respect jewelry, candles, cutting boards, and even a few food vendors. That's where I discovered Apisol, a woman-owned company based in the Peninsula that makes delicious sparkling honey beverages. Don't miss the vintage store on the first floor, which has really unique vintage products like postcards, buttons, posters, and more. I never heard or been in this location before and I am sure most of you never heard of this place either unless you search for history of the William Randolph Hearst printing press building so many years ago. The building was built in 1926 as a printing plant for the San Francisco Examiner. It is a nice mixed use building like a nice cozy maze to explore the nice layout and architecture of the old print shop. So upstairs about 2 floors and vendors are scattered so it's like a hunt for them, almost like a needle in haystack. Lol Well it's not that hard as you won't miss anyone. Too floor that where you will satisfy your sweet tooth . Yummy. The vendors that were there were a nice mix from tea, cheese, spices, India coffee , Turkish spreads, ice cream, giant cookies, healthy drinks, spreads, and I am sure you will find something you will enjoy. I don't normally buy stuff, but the honey , red beet, 2004 sweet land Bingdao $95 brick tea that is aged 21 years that can make 175 tea servings for $95, Il Fiorello basalmic vinegar was thick and smooth great texture and syrupy taste very captivating and Taste of Levant tahini and their chocolate jar of molasses was excellent and I had to buy them. I started searching online but couldn't find anything close to what I had in mind. Then I remembered the antique shop near my old apartment, the one run by such lovely people with an amazing eye for beautiful pieces. So I went there, hoping to get lucky. As soon as I walked in, I saw many lovely mirrors, but none that matched the one I'd been imagining. Just then, Howard asked if I was looking for something specific. I told him about the mirror I'd been dreaming of, and he smiled and said, "I just bought one like that." He showed me a photo on his phone, and it was the one. He told me it would arrive on Monday, but I was leaving town for work and worried I might lose my chance. Howard kindly promised to hold it for me until I returned. When I came back, I hoped he had kept his word,and he had. There it was, waiting for me: the gorgeous Victorian mirror I'd dreamed of all my life. Not only did he keep his promise, but he also gave me a generous discount, saying that the mirror was meant to be mine. They delivered it to my second-floor apartment with great care and professionalism. However, the parking situation can be quite tedious when arriving after 10am. The entrance fee varies based on the time you come in, with the most expensive being when they open at 6am ($20). My family and I got there around 11am and it was a $10 entrance fee. They do allow re-entries so long as you get a handstamp before exiting. Today was my first time visiting and I was taken aback by how pricey a lot of items were - especially the clothing. Many were priced higher than new items. The food vendors present were underwhelming. We had Donna's Tamales and it was quite bland and overpriced. They charged me $18 for 2 corn chili tamales. My husband and I had hoped to find some items for our new spot, but left empty handed. Not sure I will be back for how marked up the items were.

This takes me to "Community Thrift Store" that is located in the heart of the Mission District - San Francisco. Located directly on Valencia St. and adjacent to 17th St, this very popular thrift store has been serving its customers dating as far back as the mid-1980's. I came here on a whim as I just finished buying some baked goods at nearby Tartine Bakery (a must-try if you're in the area). Parking can be hit or miss but I would advise coming here by public transit (Bart/Muni), rideshare, or simply by bike or foot. The exterior part of the building is a distinctive hot pink color that gives it a strikingly bright charm. Once inside, you will notice just how much space is occupied as every square inch is utilized to its full potential. Usually when I shop at a thrift store, I walk out with at least a few items that are really cool finds. However, during this experience, I left empty-handed and walked out with the same amount of money I had when I came in. From what I noticed, many of the items (which includes clothing, kitchen items, and other knick-knacks) were quite pricey. For example, I saw a pair of Levi's jeans that looked GREAT; only problem is that they were asking $29. There was even a small stain as the jeans should've been less than $10. I even saw a very nice glass casserole baking dish w/lid but even at $25, I could find this same item at Target or even HomeGoods around the same price. I am not stingy but thrift items should not be costing an arm and a leg. I will say that their selection is quite extensive with a ton of men's/women's/children's clothes, purses, book, electronics, furniture, area rugs, music (vinyl records, CD's, cassette tapes), housewares, and other odds and ends that is sold here. But unless there is an item I really want, I don't think I will be making any future trips back here. Again, don't let this review deter you from shopping here. What someone else might find as a diamond in the rough might be classified as junk to others. What that said and done, I am giving "Community Thrift Store" just an average three star rating.

I asked her about a table that didn't have a barcode, and she replied irritably that it hadn't been processed yet. When I asked a few more questions about the furniture, she became even more annoyed. This is not the first or second time she has been rude. She's just always fiddling with her long fingernails and never looks up. If you don't like your job, then find another one. This has happened multiple times. To the business owner: you have a great warehouse, but the customer service experience is awful because of this employee. At least the man working on the floor is very helpful and accommodating.

Update - This continues to be a nightmare…read more After a week of negotiation between reperch and chairish - during which I repeatedly asked to have this relatively small item (a corner of a sectional that reperch and chairish failed to deliver) boxed up and shipped by UPS freight - I agreed to pay $250 more to have reperch ship it here. They arranged shipping and promised to have the item here by the end of June. I just spoke to the shipper they hired, who could not even find the shipment on his inventory and then vaguely promised to deliver in mid-July This had been the single most unprofessional and disorganized mess of a customer experience I can remember over the last decade.
