I don't like writing 1 star reviews but I don't want anyone else to experience what I experienced with Golden State Glass. I'm honestly in disbelief that they practice business so unethically and without any remorse. About 3 months ago, they came to fix two windows in my apartment, older wooden windows. The windows wouldn't stay open so they ordered the parts, replaced the parts and said they were repaired and would stay open. A couple weeks later I noticed that neither of the windows were working, they still weren't staying open so I informed them. I spoke to Alex, he seems to be the main guy who fields all the calls and emails. He said he'd come by and check them out again, which made sense, since it wasn't a new issue, but an issue they hadn't fixed properly. When he came back, I was out of town, so he met with the building managers. He then told the building managers that the windows weren't fixable because they were too old. When the building managers informed me of this, I thought it was odd as the windows had been fixed before just fine, so I arranged for another window repair company to come give a second opinion. The second opinion confirmed my suspicion that GSS just hadn't done the repair properly, that the windows weren't working because they'd used the wrong parts. They provided me with another estimate, showing the details of the parts/repair needed. So I informed Alex, he's the main guy at GSS, of what was going on, and asked that if he either fix it with the right parts or refund my landlord, because he was leaving me in a bind as my landlord wouldn't pay for the same repair twice, and the windows weren't fixed because GSS had used the wrong parts. Alex hung up on me, I was shocked. I texted him, he never responded. So I emailed GGS the details again, including the other window repair estimate. GGS (not sure who as they didn't have the courtesy of even signing the email) then proceeded to email back that they didn't owe a refund because they hadn't charged for inspecting the windows. I don't see how it's logical for them to think they should have charged to come and look at the very same windows they hadn't repaired correctly. The audacity... And in that same email, they said that they couldn't fix the windows because they didn't have a supplier for the parts. So they admitted they had made the repair with the wrong parts, as they didn't have a supplier for the right parts, and yet still refused to refund so I can have the another fix the windows. And they did all this though I explained to them they was leaving me with broken windows if they didn't finish the job or refund my landlord. Needless to say, do not use Golden State Glass. They are liars and will cheat you out of your money. They knowingly performed a repair with incorrect parts, took the money, and are refusing to rectify it. While in this case the money wasn't mine, it's my landlords, GGS has really messed me up by not doing the job right, not admitting it to the landlord or refunding him, and therefore I'm now stuck with broken windows. It's infuriating. It is shocking how some businesses think they can take advantage of people, especially women. No doubt in my mind that if I were a man they'd not treat me this way. They should be ashamed of themselves. How would they feel if someone was doing to their wife, mother, daughter or sister what they done to me... I hope they imagine that and maybe become more decent humans and do better by other customers in the future. read more

I called Golden State Glass to come fix a Bebe hole in a large pane of glass in a top floor unit of an apartment building. This company has been around for many years and is still going strong. We have utilized their services in the past but have not needed for awhile. I called them and received a return call from Alex and he was very prompt, courteous, and gave me a quote right away. I was hoping for a quick response for my residents and we were all happy. He placed the order for the glass and it arrived in a timely manner and was put in 2 days later. What was really cool was his father and him put in our pane of glass- a nice family run business. Give them a try you won't be disappointed and they return calls. Riley z and bs can cry all they want, but these guys saved me a lot of money. If you are a homeowner looking to replace your old windows, do yourself a favor and call these guys. We got quotes from Pella and Armstrong and a few other big name brands for our big front windows, and they were all in the $5 - $7K range. Golden State came out an replaced both windows for less than half. The windows are very high quality and look like knock-offs of the expensive Pella windows. We've had them for two years and they are great. My heating bill dropped by $20 a month and I can no longer hear the traffic blasting up the hill. The workmanship was fast and professional. I usually go for the name brands, but my wife "suggested" we try the locals and I'm glad I did. read more

Affordable, quality, fast custom-sized glass for your table tops. I placed an order for a 22" x 42" piece to test start with. Very happy with what I got for $65. 1/4" glass, smoothed edges. Called them on Monday to order two small pieces of cut mirror. The guy took down the order and my contact info and said he would call back when it was done. Thursday I called them to check on things and they had no record of my order, and didn't know if they could even do what I wanted. They called back an hour later to basically say they still didn't know if they could do it, but they would call back. Today, no call and I'm sure they have done nothing. Don't waste your time with these guys, they are not professional. They answer the phone like they are at home, and they don't seem to be interested in customers. read more

so, my bike hangs from a hook on our porch ceiling. i had decided that i was going to ride it to a barbeque in the park, rather than driving. i had convinced myself that in addition to being an environmentally-conscious choice in transportation, that i would actually save money by not burning the gas required to travel the 1.4 miles i was going. finally, i decided that i didn't need to ask The Boys (my two roommates) to help me get the bike down from its ceiling-hooks, as i am quite capable thankyouverymuch. well. i am capable, but not quite tall enough. i got it about half-way down before flipping the entire thing backwards over my head and THROUGH THE WINDOW behind me. no serious injuries, but a seriously broken window. it was kind of cool how the glass shattered, but i can only acknowledge that in retrospect. on my very understanding landlord's suggestion, i called golden state glass to make the repair. they were able to send someone out with very little notice first thing the next morning. the repairman arrived on time, was polite and helpful, and finished the job in no time at all. so, my attempt to save money on gas cost me $120 for a new window. i'm no accountant, but i think i got a bum deal. oh, and to add insult to injury, i forgot where i had parked my car the day before and ended up with a parking ticket while i was dealing with the window repair. none of this is golden state glass's fault, and i would recommend them highly. read more

I called and spoke with Alex and asked if he had time the same day to come take a look at my broken glass. He said he would try which I understood being last minute. He told me to call him back in the afternoon and he would update me on his schedule. When I called Alex back in the afternoon he said he would be there around 3:30pm-4pm. He never showed up and no phone call. I called him after 4pm and he said he couldn't make it but he definitely make it out the following day and he said he would be able to replace my window that day. Next day I waited and waited at the scheduled time yet he didn't show up. I called a few times and couldn't leave a voicemail because it wasn't set up. So I decided to drive down to the store to find out what was going on and I found it was closed during open business hours. If you value your customers time even though you are running late or might have to reschedule it would be nice for you to contact the customer and inform them and not have the customer chasing you around. Having a number that doesn't have the voicemail set up just shows how unprofessional your company is. So I decided to call another company and complete opposite experience. Sorry Golden State Glass but you just lost a return customer and lost out on a job to replace all of my exterior windows which was given to another company and all because you just couldn't pick up the phone and contact your customer. read more

Q is a super nice guy, he's honest, and does excellent, fast work. I brought my home window frame to his shop and he fixed it in about 15 minutes. He scraped away the old crap, laid the window stick down, cut the Window to size, and installed it while I stood there, listening to classic rock, and having a really cool conversation. These guys just left and were lifesavers (almost literally). I live on the 2d floor above an area with high foot traffic. One of my 5'x2' windows was hit by a rock that split the window. Other glass companies said that it might take 24 to 48 hours to replace the window. Golden State said that they'd be out in 2 hours. They took slightly longer to get here, but once here they replaced the window in almost no time and for a very reasonable price. I would use them again in a nanosecond. In fact, I'm considering using them for a larger (non-emergency) job very soon that they can do much more cheaply than I had expected. Quite impressive. read more

Golden State Glass replaced a HUGE (at least 15'X3') piece of glass in the foyer of my apartment building super cheap and super fast. By super cheap, I mean under $350. They even cleaned up the broken shards left from when the original plate glass broke. They custom cut and delivered the glass in 2 days. I mean.... the repair itself took 20 minutes. I just can't speak highly enough. Other places quoted me a week to finish the job and anywhere from 600 to 1200. read more

I've used this glass shop for more than a decade and I just realized that their prices can be sky-high. Because Golden State was taking more than 2 weeks to fill my order, I called two other San Francisco glass suppliers. Both offered far lower prices for the two tempered glass shelves I was looking for: The price for exactly the same shelves was $45 from Star Glass and $65 from Celtic Glass versus $105 from Golden State Glass. I would suggest doing some price checking before you order from Golden State. read more

The glass in one of our house's ground floor windows shattered. I needed it to be replaced that day for safety. Mr. Kim from Golden State Glass was super-nice. Even though he was at another job, when I called his cell phone, he left and came to my house and fixed it (long, odd shaped glass) on the spot. Price was very fair and he could not have been nicer. I called Golden State Glass In December before the holidays and received a quote for a pane of glass. I provided a credit card for payment and was told they would call me in a week after they ordered the glass and received it. I called on 1/6/2018 and was told they "called me many times and that I didn't answer so they did not do anything with it". I asked to order it again and was told they would call me. I called today (1/19) and was told "they called me many times, I didn't answer and they did not do anything with it" (seems like this excuse has been well rehearsed). This time I asked if they left a message and they said "I think so". Between 1/6 and 1/19 there was only one number in my call log that I did not recognize (not their number) and one voicemail (again not their number). They told me because I never answer my phone (making it my fault), I should call another glass shop. I would not recommend using this glass shop but apparently their financial situation is so good that they do not need new business anyway. read more

These guys were so amazing for replacing one window pane in our 1900 victorian that had been shattered. It took 30 minutes, cost $120, and was so easy. They were a little late for our appointment but they were lost, so I will cut them some slack because the service was great otherwise and the price was lower than any others I was quoted.
