I rented a 5x7 unit nearly two years ago at this location Eventually, I upgraded to a bigger unit as I accumulated more stuff. I always paid on time and sometimes even paid a month in advance. This month I encountered some financial hardship and I was a week late on my payment. The lady "Diane" who took my payment over the phone said she could not waive the first and only late fee of $30. I've spent maybe a little over a couple thousand dollars in their facility and again, never had I been late on my monthly payment. I was happy there, but for the sole reason of the unwillingness and lack of sympathy to waive the outrageous $30 fee to a loyal patron I put a cancel on my future business with golden state storage and will take my business elsewhere. read more

My Father rented a storage unit here for many years. He enjoyed coming in to pay his rent each month in person to say hello to Diane and her staff as they were always so welcoming and helpful. He recently passed away and we had to clear out his unit. We received excellent guidance on accessing his unit and were provided with local friendly resources for hauling away what we could not move ourselves. I tried to call there because Google gave their number as the corporate office. The gentleman I spoke to seemed kind and asked why I was calling as I was speaking and put me on hold without acknowledging he was then hung up. I called back spoke to someone I can only assume hadn't had her proper medication yet, who asked my name, which I provided. I asked her name and she said why are you calling. As I explained on Google, this number was given as corporate office. She said no, it doesn't, ma'am. Which she called me repeatedly. I Again asked her name, and she asked why I said it is common courtesy to call someone by their name rather ma'am. She continued on her rant this wasn't the office I needed to call, I asked for the corporate office number or area manager number and her name she said no I don't have to give you my name. After further inspection I found the corporate office number and called them. I will await the call back from the area manager who was on his way to a meeting. Kindness goes along way. When you think you're above kindness please remember there is someone who would not have complained had you offered kindness over rude, condescending behavior. read more

When i first went here and got a storage, it was quick and I do really appreciate it. The service was good and really helped me out. But when the last time I went here is when I told the new guy to close or cancel my storage on the Oct 14 since that's the end of the monthly due date. I gave him a personal notice and told me it's good to go. I grabbed all my stuff, cleaned and left the storage unlocked and open. But they still charged me for another month even tho we already talked about cancelling it. Don't they go around the storage? And won't they think it's odd to have an empty storage? And then, I tried calling them, the new guy is pretty rude. He also told me he's not gonna charge me anymore but still did. He also said he never talked to me. read more

I had previously written a review and even though I posted an update, this place and the managers there deserve way better... I have been a customer since 2016 renting an 8' x 8' storage space. Since I am moving again and have decided to do it myself rather than hire some company, I walked in to inquire about their Uhaul rentals. First of all, business aside, Brian and Jon are exceptionally friendly, patient, and generous. Brian is so easy-going, kind, and enthusiastic - his attitude has totally taken the edge off the stress of having to move. Not only that but he bent over backwards to accommodate my needs without expectation. Even with me coming in several times to change my reservation, he addressed my concerns enthusiastically and emphatically - easily the best customer service experience I have ever had. Additionally, I am also in the process of downsizing to a smaller storage space to save a bit of money; another process that required changing my reservation several times. Both Brian and Jon have put up with a lot from me in the last week and have made a chaotic process much easier to handle. The facility itself is well-kept and I feel safe keeping my belongings there. I like that it is indoors and climate controlled; the price seems to be pretty reasonable and on-par for what you'd expect to pay in general. I understand other customers may have had negative experiences - I am one of those customers myself - but everyone has off days and there is nothing that has led me to believe that my previous experience was anything other than that. I was looking for a storage facility for our Motorhome and called & spoke with John. He said they had one open spot for my size RV, I went down there and inspected the spaces and met John in person. The facility was very clean and secure and John was informative and very professional. We made an appointment to drop off the RV and complete a contract on that Friday am, upon our arrival the check in was fast and seamless. Needed a place to store some personal items during our recent move and with calling 3-5 multiple locations in the Oxnard and Camarillo area, Golden State Storage was not only the best priced, but also provided me with a military discount dropping the price even lower. The staff had professional and COVID-19 friendly service and the representative Brian who helped me out was very detailed in explain the billing process as well as the gate hours of operation. Gave me a couple options of available storage lockers to choose from and after what was going to be a 1 month storage term, I stayed for 4 months exactly. If you need or have any storage needs, you won't be disappointed with this well maintained facility as it's spotless, well guarded and secure. Thank you Brian for all your help. read more

I showed up, no truck, doors locked and no one answering the phone. It's a long story, but things with corporate uHaul was a mess. If you're looking for a place to keep all the stuff your wife won't let you keep or display at home then look no further...Golden State Storage is the place! Brian and the crew are courteous and helpful and really went the extra mile to help me find the right sized unit for my things, find the right sized U-Haul for my out of state move and assisted me with finding someone to take away all the items I couldn't take to my new place when I checked out. They even changed the access hours to accommodate my crazy schedule. The building was clean and well lit and there are security cameras everywhere so I never felt like my things were in danger of being stolen. Storing things isn't exciting but you won't find better service anywhere else. read more

Okay, my first review of Golden State Storage trashed this place pretty good. The abysmal experience with the office manager there when I tried to rent an RV space can't be undone and would be a disservice to Yelp readers to not include. I was treated as poorly as I ever have been at a business before. That said, I have never been more impressed by corporate management once they got wind of this incident. Their response was immediate, gracious, and ultimately outstanding. They were concerned and respectful, listened to my side of the issue and ultimately are making some repairs and upgrades to their gates as well as having taken care of repairs to my trailer. They worked directly with the repair facility to cover the costs. Everything they said they would do was done and the response of both gentlemen was just great! They definitely took and kept the high road the entire time. So the lesson here, the company that owns this location and several others in the area is great at addressing customer concerns. Given there have been two highly negative reviews about the office manager in less than a week, this appears to be the real issue and hopefully it is being dealt with in the same professional manner and your experience here will be better. If I were still in the market for a storage place I would definitely consider this location again. Despite the issues I had it was clean and appeared well maintained and conveniently located to the freeway. read more

If there was a zero stars I'd give them!!! on July 20th I went to buy my moving kit from them! and as I was looking for my stuff, I told them that I would pick up my moving truck tomorrow from them. I gave the guy my husband name and as soon as I said that It was like I unleashed hell on earth.. the guy instantly told me that they have no business for me and my husband!!! I was shocked and told him he couldn't do this to me! I had a reservation and I needed to move out the following day.. he started pulling the reservation and found that it was not at their location after all and informed me that if it there he would've canceled it.. all because my husband gave them a bad review a year ago!!! he then proceeds to call his wife and when she comes out she instantly starts to threaten me by saying you don't know who I am!!!! is this really how they run the business?? threat and kick out customers just because they gave their opinion!!!!! its like a gang over there!! this business should be shut down. these people don't know the first thing about running a business. please save yourself the trouble and go somewhere where you'll be respected. read more

Very clean, someone always answers the phone w efficient service, safe property. $20 more a month than my other storage space but my other one is on a 3rd floor and the facilities arent as clean and its crowded and sometimes things are broken. But golden state storage is always quiet and not crowded and my soace is on the ground floor so in many aspects its worth the extra amt. paid it for almost a year. read more

Brian Evans came to my rescue! I am moving on a budget and went to Home Depot looking for tie downs, straps, etc. Of course, there was no one in the department that knew anything. I left very frustrated and thought I would just drop by the nice looking storage facility I pass by every time I visit the adjacent shopping center. I walked in, Brian greeted me warmly, and although they did not sell the straps, etc., he went to the back and showed me some they had and advised me on size, weight, etc. He gave me more help and good old fashioned customer service than I've ever received at Home Depot.
