Everyone there knows your name... even if you don't know theirs! They have made a lot of changes since back in the day and every time I visit I feel like there's been more updates to the space. I really enjoy playing games upstairs and chilling on the patio (both additions over the years) It's about the only bar in town where you can enjoy live music on the patio and a really good time. Drinks are cheap as can be, the lineup music wise changes regularly and continues to bring to good talent to town, and there's plenty of parking across the street. Just please, please, please use the crosswalk. Halloween is always a good time too! While I'm well passed my days of evening nights at The Goat, I still like to visit from time to time with friends and I know I'll be back sooner or later.

I do not like bluegrass music, but my dad and uncle do. Apparently, they've been going here for years! Who knew? My love for live music overruled my dislike for bluegrass and I enjoyed the bands' music and talent. Joe Mullins & The Radio Ramblers was the headliner and boy were they talented. Their fiddler Jason Barrie was amazing! These guys were very good and fun to listen to. Each song told a story. I felt like I had taken a ride in the Delorean back to the past in the historic Pennyroyal Opera house. The opera house itself hasn't changed much and I was fascinated by it. Take a look at the names and dates of some of the acts that have played here in my photos! There was a $12 cover charge, free pie (suggested donation), and you can meet and greet the bands. The excitement doesn't stop there though. Make it outside, and you'll discover the most fantastic patio EVER! There's a fire pit, second stage, foosball table and more. On top of that, the drink and food prices prices are unbeatable! If you go on a Tuesday, their giant margaritas are $3 and unbelievably delicious! I have to say though, the food is really what makes Kickin' unique. Unlike many bars with decent-but-not-memorable food, theirs is. Amazing. There's not even words to adequately describe it. When I was eating my taco, it was like I was transported to Mexico! The ingredients are all incredibly fresh. I really can't say enough nice things about Kickin'. Don't sleep. Come here NOW!

Review updated: We were regulars for 3 years until ownership changed earlier this year (2018). We…read morecontinued coming weekly for a month or two after the ownership change, but things changed rather quickly. The normal bartenders were replaced with new ones. The amazing chef who made wonderfully delicious "not-your-typical-bar-food" was gone. Drink prices went up, and the day we were charged additional for the mixer was the last day went. They've brought back deep fried bar food and overpriced drinks. The DJ service that used to be there is also gone and replaced with someone else. Seems like they have some identity crisis of wanting to be something other than a country bar (in Bolivar, Ohio).
