We could not swing The Dark Past Night tour as we were busy on the days for the seasonal rotation. That has been one the family has talked about over the years and we just have not been able to swing with timing. With how exciting multiple guides have told us it is, we will be planning a set day around that on our next trip to Barcelona. The free aspect is nice as we can tip the guide the extra portion in my mind as it is them taking their own time to provide their years of knowledge to you in a fun interactive environment. I would highly encourage anyone to go with Runner Bean Tours in Barcelona as it is better than the actual paid tours that just drag you along and provide canned talking points.

When the confirmation came in, it looked like the same tour name, Gothic, but when I checked in for the 9am tour, it was clarified that the 3pm tour would be different, Gaudi Modernism. Reservations online were quick and easy. It costs 3 euro to hold a spot. I gladly paid the 6 euro for both. I took the 9am Gothic Tour on a Monday. So many people booked they called an extra guide. Many showed up without a reservation. There were three guides and we broke into three large groups. Juliana was great. She was little and didn't have an umbrella; we very temporarily lost her twice! But her knowledge and enthusiasm more than made up for it! She was also very personable. I highly recommend her! Natalia gave the Gaudi tour at 3pm. She was also extremely knowledgeable and patient; our tour involved getting the group on and off a metro to Familia Sagada. Would welcome her as a tour guide again. As per the custom, you decide the cost at the end. They took my dollars and euros. I highly recommend these tours!!!!

Phone Issue since we landed in Barcelona no connection we booked this tour on our way to Miami after we left US problems Viator didn't want to hear it after our phone worked the day after tour. 2. Tour guide said he left voice mail , there was no voice mail . 3 . Directions in Spanish with the phone not working our hotel was able to print something for us to try & into the church , no luck. 4. We waited in front of church to try & meet guide no luck we checked with 6 other groups no luck however one group sounded like to new something about our name. 5. Why would we just miss this tour after paying for me , wife, and another couple does Viator need $239 that bad . Both itineraries were excellent, and we could choose modifications to our itinerary and how long to stay in various spots. We had 4 people, and one had limited walking ability. They accommodated this nicely and the cars were very comfortable. I highly recommend this company and will use them again.

I checked the confirmation email and realized I called him the wrong name. I went back to where he was, showed him the email and apologized for calling him the wrong name. His attitude continued to be standoffish and condescending. We started the tour by Javier telling us he left Spain for a long time, but returned a few years ago to Barcelona because there's a lot of tourism and he does this for the money. He continued by saying "I wish you good luck with pickpockets here, don't take it personally if you get robbed", and then started with a bit of history about Barcelona. We have traveled Europe for over two months, doing free walking tours in each city we stayed at, and this was the first time we left a tour after 20 minutes. Javier's attitude was dispassionate, condescending, and you could tell he does not enjoy showing off Barcelona to travelers. Honestly, I thought his original comment about doing it for the money only was a joke, but soon realized it wasn't. Javier, I'm sorry I called you by the wrong name. I'm sure sometimes you also make mistakes, right? Even after apologizing to you, you made me feel unwelcome and out of place. Perhaps waiting for Sergio's tour would have been best. We rode down alleys, streets, bridges, along the beach and were shown all four main squares that surround Barcelona. This is exactly what we were hoping for a we noted areas we wanted to visit on our own. We travel quite a lot and one thing we make sure to do is a bike ride and this one did not disappoint. 10 of 10 would do it again in a heartbeat maybe next time the winery tour.

In her introduction, María took the time to figure out what we had already seen and what we wanted to see. After an easy introduction to the motorized bikes, we were on our way from the Gothic area to the Born area and all the way to the sea. My wife and I had 4 full days in Barcelona to see the sights and absorb the atmosphere...so we decided to take an 8 hour tour of the highlights from the company "In Out Barcelona" Pros: - Our guide, Xavier, had a comprehensive knowledge of the city and provided an excellent perspective on the history and culture of the area.  His light touch was very helpful as we navigated crowds in some popular areas. - Main highlights: Walking through the Gothic Quarter, the Las Ramblas district, Sagrada Familia, Montjuic and Park Guell...with appropriate commentary along the way. - Since this was late November, we could only imagine the number of people during the bigger tourist times of the year. Off-season is definitely best if it fits your schedule. Cons: - This may not be a con, but there's a lot of ground to cover...literally...so be prepared to keep walking - often on cobblestones. - Again, this may not be a con, but the cost was 304 Euros for 2 people...including pickup from Xavier driving his SUV. We crammed a lot into an 8 hour period, but hit the highlights and got ideas for further investigation during the next 3 days. And Xavier did a great job of managing expectations and stress.

Casa Milla, Parc Guell, Sagrada Familia with the option to climb tower. Marta knows Barcelona inside out. We ended up talking a bit of politics which turned into a history lesson - I learned SO much! Plus she was a lot of fun and told stories that made each location come to life. The evening tapas tour with Miriam was also fantastic. Miriam is a true insider - knows the story behind the recipes and gave recommendations based on our tastes. Miriam took the time to walk us through the Gothic Quarter which was such a bonus - especially when we got to see the parade of giants. She made me laugh throughout the evening - when she negotiated with a shopkeeper for a better price when I was shopping, to turning my engagement ring around when we were on the subway. It was like being with a fun mom! Can't recommend this tour company enough. You get to learn about an amazing city with guides who feel like friends. Loved them!

He speaks seven languages and has great world knowledge and stories. His love of Gaudi is undeniable but he backed up that assertion with facts and examples that made us all converts. He took some time to find a little bit about us and our touring style before launching our tour. I told him that I would often stray from the group but to go on without me. He complied except when he would have a nugget of knowledge. I was glad every time he pulled me back in and strayed less and less thereafter. WE had to split into two taxis heading to Sagrada Familia and one driver did not listen to Javier's instructions and dropped half of our group in the wrong spot. Javier was able to find them and then talked us into the basilica despite the fact that we were late to our appointment. Sagrada was the centerpiece of the tour - if not our entire time in Barcelona, for me - so that would have been a tragedy. Once inside, we saw the glory of Gaudi. We had a late addition of our 5th person and they were able to handle quite simply for us. The meeting of Javier went exactly as planned and, for what we got, the price was worth it. I'd rather pay more and get a first class experience than go with some cheap skip-the-line tour run by a college student. Javier is passionate about Gaudi, Barcelona and our satisfaction.
