Jake and his crew completed a rather large project on our new construction home that took approximately 10 months (pool , spa, firepit, outdoor kitchen, custom pergola, front, back and side yards, water features, landscaping, etc...etc.., but it was well worth the time and cost. We purchased a home in a new development, so we vetted many different companies to build all the features we wanted on an empty canvas (ie: dirt lot). Our budget was around $290-$360k. We got around 6 bids, which we narrowed down to 3. Out of the 3, Jake gave us the most confidence in his knowledge and eye for details. We visited some of his previous projects and were thoroughly impressed. A lot of our neighbors used competitors that were cheaper, but when we saw their completed projects, you could see a lot of corners that were cut and the shoddy quality. Some look down right terrible. The majority were unhappy with the work provided by those companies. The crews were constantly changing on the same projects (subbed out to 3rd party) and there was no post-completion support. I know that there have been lawsuits filed on some of the projects. Our home, on the otherhand, has been the highlight of our neighborhood and we have people constantly taking pictures and asking for details on Jake. Not just because of the design itself, but also because of his hardworking crew. We've been beyond happy with Jake and his team and love showing off our new outdoor space. Echo was at the top end of our budget, but the quality is A+++ and 100% worth it. He didn't cut any corners and his crew pulled 10-12 hour days, 6 days a week, for 10 months. Best thing is that Jake personally checked the quality of the work on a regular basis. If anything was off by a tiny bit, Jake redid it to make it perfect. I consider myself to be detail oriented, almost to the point of being unbearable, but I never had to worry about the work being done because of the QC by Jake. This in itself was worth it. The crew was consistently the same people and HIGHLY skilled. Some of the best work I'd seen. Ricardo was our project lead and so talented and friendly. All the team was very respectful and thoughtful. They cleaned up after every day and never blasted music or talked loudly or cursed. (Which was very important to me because my neighbor and I work from home). They were kind to my wife, kids, and neighbors as well. My parents also hired Echo to fix various issues around their yard and pool and had the same experiences we did with very proficient and highly skilled crew members that worked hard. Also, the small issues we had after completion were addressed immediately. Most contractors rarely come back after you've finished paying them, but Jake really values his clients and takes pride in making sure they're taken care of before, during, and most importantly, after the project is done. There are tons of companies out there, but nobody really does it like Echo and I HIGHLY recommend them. I was looking for a contractor to renovate our front and backyard and I stumbled upon Jake via Yelp. I had met with a few other contractors and none were as responsive, thorough, and meticulous as Jake. Though Jake admits he is not a designer, he has a very good eye of what would fit into our limited space and how the overall aesthetics. Out of all our quotes we received he was the only one to actually come to our property to take measurements and walk us through design options. Not only did we learn a lot during this but also his design was much better and more detailed. We loved all the little touches like recessed lighting and extending the grass to touch the bench, every other place just split our backyard in two. He actually convinced us to flip our whole layout because having the bench so close to the A/C unit would have been too loud during the summer. Lot of great learnings that only come from experience. He was very transparent about all the costs and which parts we pay, when money is due, etc. He gave us a couple options working within our budget and once we picked one he got us scheduled in. Once work began I appreciated not being bombarded with lots of choices at once, instead he picked out things for us as they made progress. We knew nothing about tile and pavers but he took us to the warehouse to look at them and even get samples. I'm so glad we did that because actually laying out our options in our backyard completely changed our mind, the tile we were considering was way too reflective and they sun would have blinded us during the day. We did a similar thing for plants, Jake took us to a nursery and walked us through all the options. The quality of the work seemed excellent, as far as I could tell no corners were cut. His guys are very professional and masters of their craft. They spent days polishing the concrete for our bench and fire pit until it was super smooth. The grout is lined up perfect, even custom cut outs wrapping around the drainage. Our concrete looks even better than what our builder put it. I noticed them taking extra steps like applying an acid wash to make it last longer. Small touches like the divider between the public sidewalk and our pavers looks super clean and seamless compared to what I've seen in front of other houses. In the end Jake built us a backyard better than we could have imagined, on time (including HOA rules and city approvals), and at the exact quoted price. Amazing! We couldn't be happier how it turned out and so excited to be able to use it. We've been enjoying it for a few weeks now and it's gotten positive reviews from all the guests we've had over. Jake and his team at Echo Homes helped us with a very difficult backyard landscape project against a small hill. The hill was slowly sliding down at the time due to the heavy rains in 2023 and we needed to find someone quickly. Jake was referred to us by our neighbor who also used his service and we chose his service immediately. The challenge was both our hill side and four pepper trees with two large evergreens that had to be removed. The soil had slid so much that it had knocked down a fence that we had installed against the hill side to prevent erosion. Jakes' team worked through the summer months and even through the hurricane last year to stabilize the hill side and install a terrace. The end result was amazing and exactly what we had hoped for. Jake provided service from the design and approval with the HOA all the way through the final inspection and approval with the city and HOA. They destroyed our community!! They started us with a five man crew which dwindled down to two people only! They edged our grass area around our big trees to where there's 5 feet of dirt around the trees now instead of grass! Poor quality owner doesn't give a damn! A year of trying to discuss issues with this company, and it only became worse and worse every month! I would not recommend them to an enemy!! we now have more dirt than we have grass. All the plants are filled with weeds. If you want a company that has two guys blowing dirt and weeds around they're the best at it. Expect up-front pricing and end-to-end service from design, to HOA approvals, permitting, picking out materials and plants, programming irrigation and lights, etc. I called the owner, Jake Jo, after my neighbor referred him to me. By then, I had already talked to multiple landscape design and construction companies and had mediocre experiences with them. Jake and his crew were a pleasure to work with. He did the design free of charge and only asked to be paid if you selected him. He also makes sure to understand if I wanted a low, medium, or high-end backyard. As we inquired about different nice-to-haves - a water feature, a built-in BBQ, a firepit, etc - he was able to give us a sense of the costs on the spot. His crew works hard. Multiple workers show up each day, Monday to Saturday, and they show up on time (7 am most weekdays, 8 am on Mondays and weekends). They also don't take shortcuts. My wife and I engaged Jake to remove all of our existing softscape and replace it with hardscape to minimize our water usage and maintenance requirements. Our backyard was enclosed by a cold-looking cinder block fence that our HOA would not let us paint, resurface or otherwise touch. So we had Jake build a new stand-alone fence inside and detached from the cinder block fence with minimal separation (one inch) that was approved by the HOA. Jake did most of the work applying for and getting the HOA approval. He and his workers were amazing. They were respectful of our property and kept things very clean even as their work produced sawdust. And the precision of their work was top notch. Everything was precisely built and looks like it is out of a magazine. Jake used a composite wood with color baked in so it is maintenance free and the effect of the new fence brightened and warmed the backyard such that we love being out there now. It made our outdoor space seem larger. We had some artificial grass installed at the foot of the fence which highlights it nicely. Then in the middle of construction, we had him modify our fountain's water flow and replace the fountain's defunct lighting. It is so much better now! Jake is our man if we ever need more work done. Our neighbors have now engaged him for their backyard and our HOA has added him as a recommended contractor in our neighborhood vendor directory. For the large amount of work that he did and for the speed at which it was done, we feel we got our money's worth and are very happy with our experience and the final results.
