I hired these clowns to replace our heating system (2 HVAC units) and rework some ducts. We have had issues with uniform heating throughout our zones since we had the new system installed. I have been contacting GVHAC for the past 3 years trying to address these issues, trying their suggestions, and monitoring the results. We have some rooms at 85F while others are 68F on the same system in different zones. When I called today I asked if the support person wanted to know my address so they could look up the system. He told me he was finishing up another customer and would look at it later and instead asked me to describe the issue... over and over... with more and more detail to the point he just recommended a floor damper on the room that's too hot. They came out the next day, did a temporary repair and suggested the furnace should be replaced because the full repair and parts needed would not be cost effective on the faulty old furnace. They charged only a trip charge for this repair. Several HVAC companies were called for replacement estimates. Golden Valley Heating and Air's estimate was close to the others but they were not pushy, could do the install quicker and had the best ratings. The furnace was replaced 2 days later. The workers were professional and kept the area clean. I have recommended Golden Valley several times to neighbors and so far the end results have been positive. We bought a townhome for us to use that had been a rental for several years, ugh... We were only going to be available for a few days because of travel and called them a couple weeks in advance to get a tuneup and inspection and they made sure to fit us in. Tech came, actually arrived early, was respectful of our home, did a thorough tuneup, gave me a rundown on condition of equipment, settings, etc., replaced a couple filters at our request(no time to go to Home Depot). Totally comfortable with their tech and work. Never once tried to up sell, say something is going bad, etc. and we do not have very new equipment. Will certainly have them back to service A/C in the summer or anything else in the meantime. Tuneup was cheaper than Centerpoint, and we have had their service plan. read more

OMG! It went great! Tom was outstanding. He called as he was on his way and arrived perfectly on time. 3 weeks earlier, I had called another AC company to fix my AC that stopped working, and that previous company messed it up. After this earlier company "fixed it", my AC still wouldn't cool down properly, it leaked constantly now to boot, they left exposed wires and a dirty condenser (which is likely what caused the problem to begin with). This previous company wouldn't come back to fix the problems (leaking AC, wouldn't cool properly) and then wouldn't return my call. So I then contacted this company, Golden Valley Heating and Air, for an AC & Furnace Tune Up and they outdid themselves. Not only did they do a great job on the tune up, but they also fixed the issues that that last company caused and broke, Tom, the technician who showed up, was extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and very non-assuming. He was very kind and patient, and took time to answer my questions, and walk me through what was wrong, and what my options were. He ended up doing a bit more extra work than what is included in the routine tune up, and he only charged a nominal fee for doing so (it was very fair, and it was definitely needed!). As it is, he has to order a couple of parts and come back another time, and I am not charged another trip charge, as it's a continuation of this job. Again, very fair, and it's a nice surprise! This company is the one to use and keep. They have a customer for life in us. My recommendation to you, Angie's List Readers: To get the best value, call them and set up a Routine Joint AC & Heater Tune Up Appointment (do both at the same time and save some money, $169 total for both at the same time when I did it). It might not be an immediate appointment (they are a great company and in demand - my appointment was about 11 days out). And during their appointment, along with the tune up, they will access your AC and/or Furnace needs, and if, and only if it's needed, they will recommend what is needed, and then you decide if you want to do it. Then I would also recommend for you to do this routine AC and Furnace Tune Up every year going forward, and likely miss out on any unexpected and expensive repairs. If you need a new AC and/or Furance, I would also recommend this company. Plan it in advanced, and try scheduling it during a slow time, and save a ton. Thank you GV Heating and Air! He quickly diagnosed the problem and repaired the unit, as well as went above & beyond to check for things that might have caused the failure in the first place and even cleaned the outdoor unit. Been a long time customer, however after a recent service trip this fall, we will no longer use Golden Valley Heating & Air. Technician caused significant damage to our basement flooring due to unplugging our condensate pump causing a slow leak over several weeks. When finally noticed we had a return visit to confirm. When confronting service manager Dennis- met with zero resolution to matter, unprofessionalism, and several excuses for his delay in responses. I was refused the opportunity to speak with ownership and the liability aspect was simply tossed back in my lap as homeowner as that his technician refused any such actions, and it was noted I could have unplugged unit. Essentially their word against mine as the homeowner... even though I have video surveillance of technician clearly plugging in his shop vacuum to the outlet that pump is normally plugged into. I would strongly encourage anyone considering GVHA to closely supervise their technicians coming onsite, or to have surveillance footage of work being performed. If zero stars were an option I would leave... as the lack of customer service displayed by the service manager was greatly disappointing, not to mention the lack of involvement by owenership with front line customers in these scenarios shows their lack of interest in client base. read more

I can't say enough good things about Golden Valley's repair of our air conditioner. Our AC system died in the middle of a hot weather streak. The company that installed our system as a subcontractor on a remodel wouldn't return my calls or messages about fixing the system. When the installer won't help you repair the system in a high volume repair time, you are pretty much screwed, especially when the system they put in is a less common brand. Enter GV. They were willing to squeeze us in. Their first repair try didn't work and the repair guy was really clear that if it didn't work, they wouldn't charge us (even though they were out $400 in parts). He returned two more times and put in different parts as he tried to learn our unusual system with downloaded schematics. Every time we scheduled a visit, GV was prompt in answering our calls and really clear in communicating timelines. When he finally got it fixed he knocked about $300 off the bill because of all the waiting. Unbelievably generous. The guy who did the work, Phil, is my idea of a hero repair guy. He was incredibly hard-working, dogged in committing to getting the job done, and showed incredible integrity in handling the cost despite the hassle of continually returning to our house. I should probably give a 5 star simply due to price. I called deans plumbing first as I pay them for their deans club service (10% off work and free travel charges for inspection). Deans told me over $900 to replace the blower motor. So I looked up the unit and the price was $180. Ok so for 1-2 hours of work I was being charged $720? Apparently doctors saving lives should get paid less than a guy who went to trade school..... So I called a few companies to get estimates and ended up with GV. They gave me an estimate based on what I told them and waived the travel charges as well. Came in just over $400 so I saved $500 just with a phone call. My only qualm was the fact that I couldn't call the technician (I tried and he didn't respond) and he never called me to confirm the work before he started. Just a courtesy as I wasn't at home but it makes me feel better with better communication. Overall good service. I will most likely be a repeat customer. read more

Great service! My AC wouldn't turn on. I realized the breaker kept tripping. I called GVH&AC. The tech was right on time and very pleasant. I have a very old AC unit and he immediately got on the ground and looked underneath the unit. He asked if I had a hose. I hooked up my hose and he gave the bottom a good cleaning. The coil condenser was plugged with cottonwood seeds. The AC unit was overheating because of the cottonwood and causing the breaking to trip. He gave my old AC unit new life. This morning my furnace stopped working. I checked on Yelp for a recommendation for HVAC service. I selected the number one recommended which was Golden Valley Heating. I called and was told they would be out within the next two hours. The tech(Heath) arrived in a little over an hour. Promptly identified the problem as the "induction fan" and said he had all the parts he needed to fix it. The bill would be about $400. In a little over an hour he had replaced the fan, filter, cleaned and tested the burner. The bill end up being $360 and all is well. read more

I did some research before choosing this company as I believe hiring a good reputable company for installations is just as important as purchasing a quality product. We dealt with Scott, one of the owners who was a pleasure to work with. The installers Darryl, Josh, and Justin were wonderful. They were at our house on time and did a very nice job as well as being very helpful in answering any questions. They responded two days before what was quoted (CostCo told me someone would call on Monday or Tuesday). We received a call two days early, on a Saturday, and they scheduled a time to come to the house the next day, a Sunday. Barb was great, friendly and was able to give us individual pricing for each item (something that was a problem with two other companies we talked with). The install went great. Because it was such a large and uncharacteristic payment we had to get it okayed by our financial institutions. We had our existing furnace and AC replaced this Monday. The installation was flawless, the guys were on time, and very professional. They started immediately upon arrival and worked steadily through the day. Prior to beginning the install they walked me through the entire process, they were very patient in answering my questions. After they left I turned on the AC.....talk about quiet......I went out side every so often just to listen and make sure it was running. My old unit sounded like a turboprop right before lift off. Had a great experience with them. Furnace was becoming increasingly loud over the last couple of weeks. Got so loud, I had to turn off the furnace a couple of nights ago (with still freezing weather in Minnesota). Called them in the morning and they had somebody out that day. They initially gave me a two hour window of 1-3, but the person was there right at 1. He diagnosed the problem in about a minute and headed out to get the replacement part. Service tech. came out and was right on time (even a little early) and was able to quickly diagnose the issue with a capacitor and replaced it and tested the system. I did a bunch of online estimates to find a certified tech for my furnace, which needed a servicing and city of Minneapolis inspection as mandated by a purchase agreement when selling a home. Golden Valley heating/air came back cheaper than all of the others, licensed or unlicensed, at $149.
