My Husband and I lost our home in the Campfire and decided to buy land nearby and add a manufactured home. We stopped by Golden West to check out the display homes and ended up working with Wende B. She walked us through each home and told us different things they would be able to change about layouts or finishes. We sat down with her for a quick rough quote on what the cost may be including construction costs, taxes and other fees. Our final cost after everything was said and done was VERY CLOSE to what Wende had initially quoted us that first day. The time frame we were given at the very beginning was about 3-4 months to be in our home. This wasn't quite accurate as it didn't include the nearly 5 months that it took to get all of the designs and plans finalized and signed off. It took several weeks to get revised quotes back from the dealer up in Oregon each time there was an error and another several weeks/months to get appraisals done, financing squared away and all of the PERMITS!! We started the process to order our home in mid February. Our home was finally "Released to build" in July ( 5 months later ). We were given a delivery estimate for Late October. Our home actually arrived ahead of schedule in late August! We didn't make a ton of changes to the initial model but the changes we DID make were all exactly as we wanted. Every finish was done correctly, carpet and flooring were all what we'd ordered. I won't say there were no issues or mistakes during this whole process. Yes we have cracks in our walls or ceilings where the pieces were put together, we have a few quality issues as far as some cabinets not being screwed together tightly or knobs being loose. But it's nothing worth freaking out about. We expected cracks as our home is settling. They're fixable. We've had a few issues during the walk-through that are on Sue's desk to get fixed. This hasn't been a quick process... we've been in our home for 2 months now and these issues still haven't been addressed but hopefully scheduled soon. ( No issues that are major, those were dealt with quickly ) My Suggestions for a successful transaction: Read through all of your quotes and cost estimates with a fine tooth comb. Double check all math and prices and confirm them all when you get your actual bill and loan. I did find some discrepancies on ours but they were fixed. Plan for at least 8-12 months minimum once you start the process to see your home on your lot ( Probably a lot more now that Paradise is rebuilding) Expect to see cracks in your walls a few months after setting up and not 5 star quality craftsmanship in absolutely everything. It's a manufactured home, not a luxury mansion. I've also written reviews on the other 2 main players when getting a home through Golden West. Redline Construction and Land Home Financial. Redline is the construction company who sets up the home on on your lot and finishes everything, Land home is the mortgage company that Golden West works closely with. read more

I don't usually write reviews, but I feel Golden West Homes of Chico, CA deserves my review. There was an incident where they were delivering a mobile home and a power pole line was hanging low in the street and they accidentally pulled the line and it ripped off the pge panel off of my house. We had no electricity after that. One of the workers gave me the owner Larry's number and told me to call him if I need anything at all. I called and got the office ladies. They were so nice and professional. They worked with me every step of the way to ensure that me and my family were well taken care of. They got us a hotel for 5 days, paid for us to replace our lost groceries, paid our fast food while staying at hotel, and they also paid for my husband's days he missed from work. They paid everything and more. I finally got to meet them when I went to their office. Wende and the other two office ladies were so incredibly nice. They made me and my baby girl feel so welcomed like if we were family to them. I didn't get to meet the owner Larry, but he made sure we got everything we needed. They're all such amazing people and they made this an easy experience with no trouble at all. One day when I am able to buy a new home I most definitely will be coming to Golden West. We purchased a manufactured home from Golden West, and in the lengthy process, got to know Jack Andrews quite well. Since Golden West had sold a number of homes in our neighborhood, Jack was frequently around the area. He often stopped by our property, and visited us in our RV, to see how we were doing, and to update us on whatever was known regarding the status and timing of our home. Since the process had stretched out due to Covid and supply-chain issues, especially, this was much appreciated. Jack never failed to follow-up on any questions we had, and was always cheerful. We could see that he was extremely busy, but he worked hard to not neglect us or our situation. During the site prep, delivery, and Red Line's work in preparing the home, he was very helpful. In the process of some remodeling of the home's front elevation, Jack again was very helpful in coordinating the work. And once again, in the final hectic days before we were able to occupy, against a deadline, he really came through for us. It would be difficult to think of going through this process, all the while retaining a sense of balance and patience, without Jack's help and encouragement. We look forward to a continuing relationship with Jack Andrews, as friends. read more

After the Camp Fire in November 2018 we had to evacuate and went North in order to get away from the deadly flames and smoke. With our minds still in the clouds of confusion and fear we ventured out to see if anyone would be able to help us rebuild our modular home. This is when we found Alicia at Golden West Mobile Homes. The team was welcoming, kind and understandable. We viewed many modulars and asked so many questions. Alicia, honestly and graciously answered all of our questions and calmed our fears of the unknown. We are still in the midst of waiting in line like many families in our community and the one thing that has helped with this process is Golden West Mobile Homes patience with us. Golden West Homes in Chico has been wonderful to me. I am a Camp Fire survivor and alone with my pets. Alicia Cabral has been my angel through this entire process. From showing me the homes, to answering all of my continuous questions, to handling all of the paperwork, etc. she has done it all. February 3, 2020 We met Alicia in December 2018, right after the Campfire, when we had tragically lost our home and everything that we owned. Our lives were upside down and our future, unsure. From the very moment we met Alicia, we knew that we were in good hands. Her knowledge, attention to detail, and positive attitude helped guide us through all the emotional decisions we needed to make. I lost my home in the campfire 2018. I decided to go with Golden West to get my kids and I back home to Paradise where I grew up. Everyone was very pleasant to work with. One of the employees Jack Andrews by far sticks out as probably the best caring employee they have. His goal is to help get all his Paradise people back home and he is going out of his way to make this possible.
