EDIT / ADDENDUM: I called the restaurant after writing this review and throwing the food out. They had Lucy (?) call me back. She said she'd refund our money if we brought the food back. We placed most of the uneaten food in the delivery bag, but some was literally hard to dig out of the garbage, so I took a photo of it. The male (owner?) was smug, offensive and quite argumentative, argued with us, said there was nothing left of the vegetables, and was going to pay us only $13 for the returned Pad Thai. He also denied any knowledge of the female who called us back.What happened to customer service and making this right? I was going to entirely remove this review, but after arguing with us for over 5 minutes, here it is.... My husband ordered dinner through Uber Eats tonight. Looked up the reviews here. several very complimentary, so we ordered... Besides paying extra for priority delivery, it was late and cold and needed to be reheated. THIS is a DINNER PORTION? These portions are skimpy even for a lunch portion. Even if the food was 5/5 ( it wasn't), I'm giving less stars because this is a rip off. The chicken skewers were greasy considering they are supposed to be grilled. The mixed vegetables with garlic sauce , although a decent mix ( broccoli, carrots, green peppers, water chestnuts and mushrooms), had NO hint of garlic sauce whatsoever, or spiciness ( an option when ordering). Also, we could choose what we wanted with the vegetables: white rice, Lo mein, fried rice, etc. The white rice we chose was in the container with the veggies, not in a standard separate white takeout box, and occupying a good portion where the veggies should have been. The pad Thai was bland, spice-less and very skimpy with the chicken. "Inedible" per my husband and I threw mine out . NEVER have I done that. What a waste of $40.00. We placed an order for pick-up. We ordered 2 crab rangoons and used a coupon for a free order if rangoons.. I asked to confirm that they had not charged me for the second. The lady said we had three, the two we ordered plus the free one. Then she went on and on berating me for not understanding how her coupon was supposed to work. She was very rude about it. The food was mid. My wife said her egg rolls tasted like burnt oil and refused to eat them. One of our dishes was supposed to have white rice but we got fried in error. Well, saying I was disappointed would be an understatement. It has been a few years since I have been here (and I remembered it as being fairly decent) and something has happened to this place. So, I broke tradition by not ordering beef lo mein. Instead I opted for Szechuan Chicken. Now, if I remember correctly, Szechuan anything is supposed to be savory and spicy. This stuff was just slightly north of sweet and sour chicken...I DO NOT LIKE sweet Chinese food. That pretty much sucked. What I ordered was not what I received. Rather than beef lo mein, I received beef with fried rice. Shredded vegetables amongst the beef make it seem like they started to make lo mein then changed their mind. Execution and taste were both lacking. The beef had an almost sponge like texture. The sauce was peculiar. There were congealed lumps in a runny sauce. Taste was more like pan drippings from a roast than Chinese food. Have been going here since they opened. Covid gave them a hard time to go, yet they were still open. The good used to be hands down the best, but after my order of "not so bourbon" bourbon chicken and tasteless rice, not sure what to do. We went there for lunch after our hike. It's one of the restaurants open today, since it's Easter Sunday majority of the local restaurants were close. This place is popular for take outs, but it's also a restaurant where you can sit and enjoy your food. Our server does not seem to speak English well and she seemed to be rushing us when taking our orders. I love good Chinese food- I like that they served complimentary chicken on a stick. We are a party of 5 and each one ordered a cup of soup which was all good, but not piping hot- they way I prefer my soup. For entree- they have a lot to choose from. I love this place. It is close to our place, next to Kroger (eat before grocery shopping) and friendly owner!!!! It is a small place out of nowhere and the inside also looks so simple, but it is freshly cooked and awesomely tasteful! They also provide the service for a call before pick up which the food will be ready in 10-12 minutes. Sometimes after work, I'd call to pick up and take it home for dinner. Having grown up in San Francisco, my standards are high when it comes to Chinese food. So I guess I have to be kind and take that in consideration when rating this place. I ordered the Three Seafood Combination and first of all the "crabmeat" was the imitation fish paste type. Again what should I expect from a small town in northern Kentucky. The egg drop soup was plain with only what looked like pre-mixed scramble eggs and nothing else-no veggies or any kind of seasoning. The fried rice had rice kernels that were hard from being allowed to keep in a warming pan. To top It off, the combination ice tea and lemonade had too much ice which melted quickly and made the drink very bland. I wouldn't suggest going to this place if you're used to good Chinese food--I would rate Panda Express three stars above this--that's how bad this was. read more

Polly Campbell, food reviewer for the Cincinnati Enquirer, once said if there was an award for best Chinese Food Carryout in Cincinnati, she would give it to Golden Wok. At least, that's what it says on their wall. So far, I'd have to agree with her. The thing is, everything here is fresh and original. Their sauces don't taste like the ones that go by the same name on every other Chinese carryout place in town. The schezuan chicken was closer to a sweet and sour, and the taste of catsup was obvious, but it worked. I would have like it hotter, as it was marked spicy, but the vegetables were so fresh and the meat so not old tasting, it was quite enjoyable regardless. How sad is that when it comes to Chinese carryout, you only have to be not bad to be good? Also, the chicken on a stick that comes as a side instead of the typical egg roll is very tasty, I'd be happy with a meal of only those. He explained he already had shown her his order she looked in the bag and said it was our order. Attentive staff when you dine in. I never have had to ask for a refill, which is the sign of a good wait staff in my book. The food is always really hot and fresh and is at the table very quickly. Ordering to go can be a bit tricky with the language barrier from time to time but they haven't ever messed up an order from the 5+ years I've been ordering from them. read more

Just passing through town and this was a place that delivered to hotel. I ordered Moo Shu pork, fried dumplings, and to make it over the $20 delivery threshold, I got Honey boneless spare ribs. Dumplings were homemade with delicate skins and browned just right. Moo Shu pancakes were the authentic kind, not tortillas like you get some places. The moo shu itself was very fresh including fresh mushrooms and not too salty. Many times after eating Chinese you need to drink a gallon of water a few hours later. Not with what I ordered. And the spare ribs were tender and very tasty without being overly sauced. I am going to be able to save those for a little tasty bite on my flight tomorrow. It's not often that my two boys (10&9) and I are left to find dinner on our own. After shooting down the Fazolis and White Castle requests we ran into the Golden Wok. I got one of the house specialties Orange Chicken. Boys both got the sweet and sour kids meals for takeout. We picked up two orders of Chicken on a Stick...because why not. I wouldn't have minded staying and eating. The restaurant was clean and the staff friendly. The boys loved the cloud lights above. Orange chicken was great. Yummmmmm! I love Chinese food, and I love Golden Wok. The food is delicious and reasonably priced, and they have delivery within a 5 mile radius. The best thing about it for me is that the sweet and sour sauce doesn't get clumpy after you refrigerate it. I recommend the crag rangoons and the egg drop soup. It's excellent. I have been here several times. My last two visits have been awful. I normally get pad thai and fried rice. Both dishes have been super dry and lacking flavor. The fried rice tasted old, like it had been reheated. I agree with another reviewer when stating mall court food. Exactly what it reminded me of. My order was incorrect at one visit. Being from NY, fining a good Chinese place is kinda hard to do. I ordered Sesame Chicken with fried rice, Chicken on a stick (free) steamed dumplings, egg rolls, and shrimp lo mein. The Sesame chicken was battered chicken in brown sweet n sour sauce & my fried rice was yellow rice with peas and carrots. (I have yet to find a place that knows what fried rice really is) The free chicken on the stick was pretty good as well as the dumplings. My wife and I are always looking for great Chinese food. That said, this was not the place. The fried rice was simply yellow rice with uncooked peas and carrots in it. The General chicken and sesame chicken were soggy and bland. The "Thai Rolls were little pockets of old cabbage drenched in grease and the normal egg rolls tasted as if they had been sitting in old oil for at least three hours then drained... The Crab Rangoon and the chicken on a stick were the only edible things that we received. Everything else went into the garbage along with the menu for this place..
