The concept is great. The facility is clean. Classes of the same level are so inconsistent. My…read moredaughter has had the same skill she needs to develop for 3 months. They send in extra instructors to work with the kids that are really behind and you'd think after three months of needing to master one more skill before moving up they'd work with her on that skill. Instead they just keep taking the monthly payment and waste her time on other things instead of just focusing on that one thing. In a 30 min class that means she only has two times to try that skill. It's really frustrating when you watch new students enter and get more attention as the instructor spends extra time with that child trying to figure out if they are in the right class. If you are looking for basic intro to water it's great. It's just not enough focused time to work and move up.

This place is an industrial factory of swim lessons for children, and I can only mean that in the…read moremost positive way. Goldfish is behind Culver's in Brookfield, and we went there based on a recommendation from a friend. They are incredibly good at what they do. The entire place is decorated vibrantly with bright colors and an ocean/beach theme. There are different types of levels that you can enroll your child in and for each level, they are assigned a lane during class. This means if you have multiple children swimming at different levels, they can go to the class at the same time. This is an amazing thing for busy parents. While your child is swimming, there is a comfy adult sitting area behind a glass partition where you can take pictures still without the danger of getting splashed. Afterwards, there are showers where all the kids rinse off and little dressing rooms for privacy. I love also that they provide a hair drying station as well. This place does everything you can to make swim lessons easy and painless for adults and children. I would highly recommend it, especially if you are thinking about enrolling multiple kids so they can get the attention they need for their level but still be scheduled together.

I hate to write reviews. However, this review is a must! I have had my daughter in at least 5…read moreswimming programs. This is by far the best. First, the staff is very friendly and accommodating. Missed lesson, juggling schedules, or trying to figure out the best fit for your swimmer? The staff will work with you to get your kid into the right class. While the lessons are only 30 minutes, the instructors make use of every single second of the time. Your lesson starts promptly (don't be late!). The staff is truly efficient. At the end of each lesson, the instructor comes to you the parent and lets you know what your child worked on during the lesson; what she did absolutely well and what she needs additional work on. This is done in an incredibly positive manner. Your child will feel a sense of accomplishment at the end of each lesson. As for the lessons: the small classes promote a trusting relationship between the student and instructor. Crucial with hesitant or new swimmers. Also, the pool is warm. No need to convince hesitant swimmers to engage in a lesson while they are freezing! My daughter is 12 and started swimming at 5. She started to seriously swim at 10 when she started at Swimtastic. This year, we enrolled in summer jam which was swimming every day for a week. We did a two-week session. I saw more improvement in those two weeks than in other 6-week programs. My daughter started her swimming journey at Swimtastic and absolutely loved it. We came back to Swimtastic to help her develop her technical skills. She still loves it. If your child (any age) needs to learn or just improve, I highly recommend lessons at the Waukesha Swimtastic.

I adore this school and the teachers/staff and so does my grandson. I see progress in his abilities…read moreweekly!

I have been coming to this YMCA Long before Waukesha took it over. It has mostly been a positive…read moreexperience. But I would be remiss if I did not mention some of the things that have been consistent issues with this facility and have become a grander annoyance to myself and other members recently. The biggest issue at this location is with maintenance. Things are constantly falling apart or breaking here. For example, in the last 4 months their leg sled machine in the free weight area was broken. They had an "equipment out of order" tag on for literally months. The issue itself was quite simple, the pin on the seat height adjuster just needs a new spring to keep it locked in. Well, such a simple fix went ignored for months. I come here almost everyday and I never once saw anyone try to fix it. Instead, after literally months, the "equipment out of order" sign just disappeared one day. Though *unsurprisingly*, no one had actually fixed it. I watched as multiple members hopped on the machine (myself included) and got quite the scare when the pin totally gave out and the seat slammed back under the weight of the sled. This is dangerous. I have occasionally seen some guy who looks like a third party maintenance worker occasionally stroll through the facility, but I have never once seen him actually fix anything. Same thing with some of their cardio equipment. They have a stair climber machine that has had an out of order tag on for going on close to a year now. Idk if they lease this equipment or if they totally own it, but regardless, they need to have someone either fix it or just get a replacement, as there's only three other stair climbers and depending on the time of the day, you may not be able to get on one. Minor thing, but it's just a pile on to the grander issue of things just left broken for months on end. The pool. I am not someone who uses the pool. But there are a lot of members that do. And at least twice a week, the pool is "broken". Same with the men's whirlpool. They seem to be better about getting these types of problems fixed much quicker than some of the exercise equipment. But the fact that it's constantly breaking tells me the entire system probably needs an overhaul, and is just being repeatedly band aid fixed. Understandable though, I can't imagine the cost to have it fully reoutfitted. The hours. This gym clearly is catering to the elderly populous that largely inhabits the Menomonee falls area, and as such, closes earlier than any other gym in the area. This may not be a problem if your bed time is 8pm, but if you're under the age of 60, you can appreciate still being able to go to the gym later at night, because on the weekends, they're only open until 4pm. And this changes depending on the season. It's just annoying having to keep up with the constantly changing hours when all their competitors are either 24 hours or cater to everyone rather than one demographic. All that said, it has everything I need, and the other members have generally been good people.
