I have been coming to this YMCA Long before Waukesha took it over. It has mostly been a positive experience. But I would be remiss if I did not mention some of the things that have been consistent issues with this facility and have become a grander annoyance to myself and other members recently. The biggest issue at this location is with maintenance. Things are constantly falling apart or breaking here. For example, in the last 4 months their leg sled machine in the free weight area was broken. They had an "equipment out of order" tag on for literally months. The issue itself was quite simple, the pin on the seat height adjuster just needs a new spring to keep it locked in. Well, such a simple fix went ignored for months. I come here almost everyday and I never once saw anyone try to fix it. Instead, after literally months, the "equipment out of order" sign just disappeared one day. Though *unsurprisingly*, no one had actually fixed it. I watched as multiple members hopped on the machine (myself included) and got quite the scare when the pin totally gave out and the seat slammed back under the weight of the sled. This is dangerous. I have occasionally seen some guy who looks like a third party maintenance worker occasionally stroll through the facility, but I have never once seen him actually fix anything. Same thing with some of their cardio equipment. They have a stair climber machine that has had an out of order tag on for going on close to a year now. Idk if they lease this equipment or if they totally own it, but regardless, they need to have someone either fix it or just get a replacement, as there's only three other stair climbers and depending on the time of the day, you may not be able to get on one. Minor thing, but it's just a pile on to the grander issue of things just left broken for months on end. The pool. I am not someone who uses the pool. But there are a lot of members that do. And at least twice a week, the pool is "broken". Same with the men's whirlpool. They seem to be better about getting these types of problems fixed much quicker than some of the exercise equipment. But the fact that it's constantly breaking tells me the entire system probably needs an overhaul, and is just being repeatedly band aid fixed. Understandable though, I can't imagine the cost to have it fully reoutfitted. The hours. This gym clearly is catering to the elderly populous that largely inhabits the Menomonee falls area, and as such, closes earlier than any other gym in the area. This may not be a problem if your bed time is 8pm, but if you're under the age of 60, you can appreciate still being able to go to the gym later at night, because on the weekends, they're only open until 4pm. And this changes depending on the season. It's just annoying having to keep up with the constantly changing hours when all their competitors are either 24 hours or cater to everyone rather than one demographic. All that said, it has everything I need, and the other members have generally been good people. read more

We absolutely love our YMCA! From the moment we joined, it's felt like more than just a gym--it's a welcoming community for our whole family. One of our favorite parts is the child care. It gives us such peace of mind knowing our kids are in a safe and fun environment while we take time for our health. The staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and genuinely great with children--our kids actually look forward to going!Overall, we couldn't be happier with our experience. The place is a shit hole. Don't bother going to the sauna (if it's working) because there are bugs climbing around on the benches. The whirlpool is either "not in service" or nasty dirty. read more

Randy answered all questions enthusiastically and was very knowledgeable. Based on the tour and employees like Randy I will be joining as a member. I am in my 70s and retired. I've been going to the Menomonee Falls, WI location bi-weekly to exercise to keep my body healthy for the last three years. The exercise machines are up to date and the pool is kept clean. The staff is polite and helpful. At present, the road to get there is being torn up so it's a bit longer to get there. Also, there is some renovation being done in the lower level so it gets a bit noisy and dusty, but both of these conditions will pass. read more

I was very disappointed with the customer service I received from the staff at the Tri County YMCA today. I signed my 3 year old up for a class as she has been going stir crazy as much of the world has but especially because she has an 8 week old baby sister so we really haven't been out much lately and she needs the exercise. We talked about it all week, arranged for a babysitter for her sister so I could take her and packed her bag with gym clothes, her swimsuit and favorite towel last night. We spent the morning getting ready and she grew more and more excited. The babysitter arrived at 9:25 as we were getting her shoes on because class started at 10am. Two minutes later my phone rings and it is the Y informing me that nobody else signed up for the class and it was cancelled. Ugh, seriously... first of all thanks for the warning. We were literally about to pile into the car and you call me half an hour before the class starts! Secondly, how am I supposed to tell this kid who loves swimming more than anything that even though we are walking out the door to leave now she can't go. I mean u get it but I'm heartbroken for her. I realize I never asked about a refund and called them back. I used to be a member and know they give out guest passes. When I called I just started blubbering because I felt so bad and asked if there was any way we could get a guest pass for the day given the circumstances just so I could take her swimming for half an hour. I got transferred to the most unempathetic man I have ever spoken to who just tells me in his monotone voice that they don't do that. Nobody is allowed in the building unless they're signed up for a class. She is signed up for a freaking class, i can't help that nobody else signed up. I call him out and let him know i used to be a member and know for a fact they do and he says we do not give out day passes for you to take your kid swimming for half an hour. He tells me to watch my email and see if anyone else signs up for the class if it will resume next week or officially be cancelled. Umm.. if you can send an email, why didn't you send me one earlier to let me know it was canceled today? And if someone else signs up then I just paid for a 7 week class but only get to go to 6? Oh well they would re-evaluate the cost if that happens. Whatever. Yes I'm disappointed it was canceled but I get it, who wants to teach a class for one kid? I am beyond angry that they couldn't allow my daughter to go swim for half an hour when we were supposed to be there anyways. For somewhere that is supposed to be such a family oriented establishment I find that completely unnecessary and just plain rude. I should have brought my daughter there and made him tell her to her face. Maybe I'll look around and find somewhere else to sign her up for classes next time. Seriously lame YMCA! read more

The place is clean. But apparently there have been a few robberies from lockers boo. Lots of posted signs about not leaving valuables in your lockers... Unfortunate. The instructors are really nice and the gym doesn't smell awful. I would recommend but be careful what you bring with you. read more

For the past few decades, I've worked out and and seen the transformation of the Tri-County YMCA. As I've lived in other places, I've also called other YMCA facilities "home" as well. At the end of the day, I usually come back to the Tri-County YMCA even though it may not be the closest. For me, it is always the most comfortable. What do I like? This YMCA is clean, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The facility is modern with equipment to match and everything is in good repair that I've used. The instructors for their group exercise programs are great - I especially enjoy the Zumba and Aqua Zumba courses. They also have special programs like the Idle Ironman to help YMCA members reach their goals, try new things and meet new members in the process. I also enjoy that they have family and adult-only locker rooms. It allows adults a little extra privacy and grants access to the whirlpool and sauna as well. What would make things better? It would be nice to have a co-ed whirlpool in the public pool area. Also, Aqua Zumba is available for an additional fee. The Feith Family YMCA in Port Washington included this class in their membership. I am not sure if this has changed, but if not, it would be nice to have more consistency in pricing. Other items of note: I did see signs to leave your valuables at home as referenced in other reviews. Personally, I have not had any issues nor has anyone else I know that uses the facility. With that being said, I don't leave valuables in my car or bring anything of particular note to the gym when I workout. I also make sure my locker is secured in case someone feels compelled to steal my socks or tiny shampoo. read more

My 5 year old daughter is in day camp there this summer. She came home today missing her lunch box, water bottle, and sweat shirt. She was covered in thick mud with her clothes and backpack ruined. They are not watching the younger children properly and making sure that they are clean and taken care of. Very disappointing. read more

I recently dropped my membership and requested that the monthly deduction from my bank account stop also. I was informed that due to the bankruptcy that they could not stop auto-billing and I should contact my bank. Seriously? So I had to go to my bank and put a stop payment on their auto-deduction from my bank account. read more

I like this gym regardless what everyone says! It might needs renovation but the staff and the instructors are super nice. I also like their policy of no cell phones authorized within the dressing and shower room. While during my member ship at WAC I was always concerned that someone would take a picture of me while i was dressing or undressing. Here at the Y the no phone policy i am worry free. Equipments are available anytime and there is no wait. While at the WAC i had to wait for a long time to to use a machine. Here at The Y i can access everything immediately with no wait time. Also the activities for kids are immense. The staff is very child friendly!! I would recommend this gym any day! read more

I have been going to this YMCA in and off for almost a decade now, and I can definitely see all the improvements they have made!! It looks very nice now that it is newly renovated!! They studios are HUGE!! I definitely recommend it for the whole family!!! read more

We like the swim lessons but it's almost not even worth it when they allow the summer camp kids to use the same tiny family locker room as people with small children. Wild kids everywhere with only one young counselor not controlling them all while moms with toddlers are trying to get in and out too. There must be another bathroom they can use for summer camp kids?! Or make the family locker room bigger? Or allow boys older than 3 into the girls locker room. Please change something or we can't come anymore during the day. read more

My family and I have been members for over 15 years now. We enjoy the programs and find the facility clean and very well maintained. My boys are old enough to work out with me which is great for us. The staff and members are very friendly/ social. I love how the Y helps build a community by never turning anyone away. Remember, the Y is a non-profit organization. Great job YMCA! read more

I have been a member at the Tri County YMCA for 30 years. I have used the pool for water aerobics, mostly. My husband enjoys the class work outs and our kids enjoyed the childrens programming. Now that the kids are grown, I am still using the pool and enjoying it. The facility recently did a mini-remodel, making the entrance nicer. The check in process is smoother. I especially like the new "bring your own lock" policy. Cuts a few minutes out of my day by not waiting in line for a key. The staff is friendly, and really seem to care about the members. It is a great place for families to workout and hang out in Menomonee Falls. read more

This place feels very 1970s/80s. But that's because it is an older building. The equipment is up to date, or at least relatively modern. I cannot compare to many other fitness centers, because I haven't been to anything but a ymca, or my work's fitness center. The pool is nice, and a separate pool exists for laps and aqua zumba and deep water aerobics vs. The kids pool. So that's nice. I never really understood the hot tub in the locker room, nor have I used it. Why are people naked in there??? Old grey hair stew. Gross. There are incessant warnings about not leaving valuables in the lockers. That amazes me, because isn't this supposed to be a place with Christian values? Thou shalt not steal apparently isn't being taught anymore. A nice place to workout, nonetheless, with lots of varying running machines, gazelles, elliptical type stuff, bikes, recumbant bikes, a track, weights of all kinds, and weight machines. Zumba, kickboxing, taekwondo, etc... and areas for children's activities too. read more
