Today was my son's first time at the swim school, he just turned 9 months old. I can only give positive feedback from start to finish. the songs were cute, the activities were engaging for the entire group. Creating bonding between child and parent. My son has been taking swimming lessons since he was about 5 months old. We've been going to a different goldfish location but recently moved to Canton, MI. I was very happy with the transition. It seems to be almost exactly the same lesson. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. There are plenty of changing rooms. Our lesson is on a weekday morning. Goldfish is much more crowded on the weekends. I would recommend taking a class during the week if possible. You will get the same class either way. Miss Sammy is a fantastic teacher!! She knows every kids name and says hello as they walk in. She enjoys the class and kids. She takes the time to help each kid during the class. She understands that some kids don't enjoy the water yet and helps to comfort those kids. Very happy with her weekly lesson! There will be a price increase as of January, 2018. The new price will be $84/month and it's worth every penny. I consider Goldfish an important investment that will help keep my son safe. My advice- start swimming lessons as soon as you can. You can start at 4 months old at Goldfish. I love seeing the smile on my son's face every week! He walks in and know exactly where we're at. I'm annoyed with this place. Two different times I have called in the morning to make sure there is open swim. The latest was Friday August 31st. A man answered and confirmed that yes there was from 12-1:00. Well I showed up with three children and there wasn't. The man at the desk stated it was swim team practice and turned away. If this is how they run their business, I'll keep my $150 a month for swim lessons. bTW there wasn't even a sign on a door saying it was cancelled. read more

Some kid(s) keep pooping in the pool and they cancel the swim lesson with no notification. This has occurred on Wednesday evening on 4 of the last 5 classes. It's ridiculous. Full refunds should be issued. read more

Really nice facilities including hair dryers and a device to dry out swim suits. The continuous lessons, rather than a "session" makes it so nice to join anytime. The teachers are great - my younger son comes out of each lesson saying "I love swim lessons" even when he went in saying "I don't want to." Definitely recommend! read more

My daughter started here this month. So far it has been a great experience. The thing that attracted me to the school is the low swim coach to kid ratio. There are only 2 kids in my daughter class. She is learning the different swim skills so much faster than the previous centers she attended. We have been enrolled in 3 different swim classes in other rec centers and the class ratios are higher so my daughter had to take 3-4 classes to learn the skill she learned in 1 class at Goldfish. Goldfish is a little more expensive but it takes less time to learn so I really believe I'm saving in the end. She practices her skills during their open swim schedule and that makes her better. She hasn't complained about the water being to cold which was another problem at the other centers. There are plenty of lifeguards while the classes and open swim are going on. They have special events for holidays and even parents night out events. So far it has been a good experience. My daughter enjoys it there and the swim coaches have brought her confidence in swimming back. read more

Can't believe anyone would say the instructors don't give individual attention. At tonight's class a child was having a fit in the lane next to my son and there were three instructors trying to help that child and still teach the other kid, whose parents were also paying for the class. Then, one of the supervisors came and helped my son blow his nose. We've always done swim lessons through the city rec departments without much Results, but Goldfish blows them all away. read more

I love Goldfish Swim School. We were attending classes at Goldfish Farmington (and loved it) and when we heard one was opening in a Canton, we decided to transfer as it was more convenient for our commute. The Canton location seems to be a bit larger. There is only one large pool in a Canton, but the viewing/ seating area and the dressing room area are laid out a lot better. The instructors are awesome and so talented in how they instruct their students. I am so impressed with how the teachers at Goldish can get the most scared kid in the water, enjoying the water, and getting that child to learn to swim. I have recommended Goldfish to several people and all of them agree that it is the best swim school! Goldfish has ongoing swim lessons so you can start at any time. I cannot say enough good things about Goldfish Canton. I went there based on a recommendation because my two kids were terrified of the water, which simply isn't safe. Within four lessons they were happily going underwater, learning safety skills like floating and getting out of a pool independently, and learning basic strokes. And they loved going. Fast forward two years and I took them out to swim on a local swim team. Big mistake. We spent that summer under age-inappropriate pressure and intensity, and with little to no actual instruction. And my kids hated swimming again. I took them back to Goldfish and they are happy little fish again. My older child is now on the Swim Force swim team there, where she competes in an age-appropriate context and is still learning every week. My son is almost ready to join her. With this level of quality, plus the super-warm staff and life-friendly scheduling policies, it is the best extracurricular we do. If you're wondering whether to do it, do it. It's worth every penny and every minute door-to-door. read more

Before goldfish, my daughter would SCREAM if water got in her eyes. She's been in class since it opened, and now she goes off on her own with her life jacket! She's no longer terrified of water (thank god) and open swim is her favorite summer activity!!! The classes her are phenomenal for beginners. My 4 year old loves her class & swim coach. They are so great with children & very patient. They don't push the kids to do too much at once, which I really appreciate. The kids get a little prize after every class. The pool is warm, I think 90 degrees. I would recommend the charter membership. It's 100% worth every penny. We go to open swim Monday - Friday. The staff is super friendly & extremely helpful. If you're not familiar with the facility, they give tours for you. Overall, I'm really glad this facility opened up & recommend this to all parents. read more

On 10/2/2018 my son was diagnosed with Molluscum Contagiosum, which is a very common virus. Children are often exposed to the virus in a swimming pool. I took my son to UofM hospital and was seen by two pediatric dermatologists. Very concerned, I contacted Goldfish Swim School, Canton and spoke to couple of the supervisor there requesting the owner to contact me. The manager contacted me, extremely rude and argumentative on the phone. Unprofessional tone with a mother who is simply concerned about her son's health and other children who swim there. She never asked how my son is doing and quickly got defensive saying he could have been exposed anywhere and "I don't know what you want me to do". She also stated that I needed to think about if this is the right place for my son to attend as it seems I'm not happy with their services. She also stated that I rated them a "zero" star. I never provided any rating ever, but I am today, and it is because of the horrible attitude and tone of the manager. My point being, she called me to argue with me - by her telling me I should think whether I want to continue bringing my son there, and this was after I said, I'm only requesting to momentarily stop the billing, so I can allow my sons pumps to complete 100% before exposing his wound to chlorine. What a disgusting attitude. So, now I will not recommend this place. If you decide to send your child, do not express any concerns or you will be dealing with the "bitchy manager". #rudemanager read more

Initially my three year old son was very excited to go to swimming class, nevertheless after three months suddenly he refused to go in swimming pool and started crying before one of his swimming session. Neither his teacher did come out, nor any staff gave efforts for him to calm down. We were expecting that Goldfish's staff would come to us and motivate my son to go in a pool. They don't give personal attention to kids. It's very crowdy place. Finally later a Week we changed his swimming school. Now he does great in Aqua tots. He does not afraid to go in a pool. read more

Though I enjoyed the classes, i had pre paid for several lessons. I had six to go for my 15 month old daughter when the school cancelled twice do do building issues and then covid hit. I was called and told classes would resume in July. I explained I had 6 lessons left and the secretary said yes I see that you do but I'm gonna need you to pay for July as well. I said why would I do that when you owe me 6 lessons already. (ONCE A WEEK FOR 30 MINUTES) She stated it was there policy and I had to re enroll or some jibberish. No help after talking with a manager and was told someone from corporate would be contacting me which never happened. When I kindly said well then you can give me my money back I was told there is no refunds. As a business owner my self who would of kept my daughter in this class for years to come I am appalled by the customer service and the straight robbery they are trying to do.
