Decided to go to Goldies this morning for breakfast, because bagels are one of my favorite things!! At first I was a bit weary because I've never had turkey bacon or turkey breakfast sausage, and that's all they have because they are kosher. But I'm glad I decided to go!! I ordered a Zhug on a Goldie's bagel, added turkey sausage, and a side of avocado smash. It was glorious. It was everything I wanted and more! But that Zhug sauce!?!? I want to eat that on everything!!!!! They make challah on Fridays and have latkes, and other pastries as well. They also have pastrami, which I will be going to try! The inside is so cute and eclectic. The brick building and bagel counter are NYC reminiscent. And all the employees were kind and working hard at making bagels. It's fine. Goldie's has very nice employees, but the bagel was nothing special. Very average. I don't get the hype and wouldn't make any effort to go back. They're kosher so there's no pork - turkey-based breakfast meats if that matters to you. The bagel was actually kind of small/thin and I was surprised by that. We had Maccabees and the latke was the best part. I will say the eggs were cooked well - not tough, no brown spots, tender. But overall this was a miss for us. Sorry. read more

My family of 4 stopped by Goldie's for morning coffee and a quick breakfast. When we arrived around 10:00 on Sunday morning the line was out the door. But it moved pretty quickly and we were able to order in about 10 minutes. They have a good diverse menu and we all order different items. The coffee was good, with free refills and the bagels were excellent with great toppings. We all enjoyed each one and we all agreed we would definitely come back again. The seating was pretty limited but the table turned over pretty quickly. So we planned to leave with out food but a table opened up and we were able to eat it there. Goldie's Bagels is outstanding. It truly is a traditional Jewish bagel shop. I'm kind of jealous, that a college town in the middle of Missouri has such a topnotch shop. I wish I had one near my home. It was interesting to find out, their bagel oven was bought from a NYC bagel shop going out of business, so they are very authentic. They're not NYC bagels, they're a Midwest bagel, which makes them unique. I could have gone with any of their traditional bagels, but being at Goldie's for my first time, I decided to try their, "Goldie's Bagel". It has turmeric in their dou sourdough and it's rolled in black sesame seeds. It was a bit earthy in taste, but went well with a classic smear of cream cheese. I had it toasted and the extra crunchiness, added to the experience. My cup of coffee was dark and delicious. I liked that next to the coffee, they had two options to help you hydrate. You can have, water or seltzer. There are times, I want a little bubbly in my water. Staff is super friendly and professional. When I was ordering, I told them it was my first and when I asked what a Goldie's bagel was, the young lady took the time to explain it to me and encouraged me to give it a try. I was visiting Columbia for a wedding and was told to go get a bagel at Goldie's. I arrived at around 9 to a moderately long line...I took this as a good sign. The Yenta is essentially a bagel with lox and cream cheese. I asked for them to hold the cucumber. I ordered a poppy seed bagel toasted. The bagel was pretty darn good. Not too hard, but also not too fluffy. It was nicely toasted, as requested. It had a lot of cream cheese on it, I should have asked for a little less, but that's ok, better than too little cream cheese. The capers, onions, and dill were nice. The lox was fine but I do think it was a little skimpy on the lox. Don't get me wrong, overall it was very good and I would go back. The only thing they actually need help with is their Yiddish!! The bagel was good... nothing to write home about, but I don't mind putting it in black & white for Yelp. :) The woman at the counter was engaged in trivial conversation with a coworker when I arrived. She saw me, but stood in front of me continuing her conversation & not acknowledging my presence until she was done chatting. It was off putting, but she was nice once she decided she was ready to take my order. I asked for Yenta & the maple turkey sausage (not on the menu, but advertised in a a sign on the counter). I noted that a side of eggs would be nice, but I didn't see an option on the menu for that. The woman graciously added a side of eggs anyway, but scrambled was the only option. The seating is scarce, but I found a stool, facing the wall & waited there. There wasn't much to say for ambiance. It got pretty crowded at some point after I received my order. The food was deliver to my seat, & everything looked delicious. However, as I said previously... it was mostly just okay. The eggs were great. I don't normally love scrambled eggs, but I was happy. The bagel wasn't especially flavorful, but it scratched the itch. I love capers anyway I can get them! The sausage, though, was dry and not very good. I suspect they may have given me the regular sausage & not the special advertised version. But I didn't eat it. Overall, I probably won't stop there again. read more

In town for a softball camp for my daughter and ducked out for a minute for some breakfast. Craving a bagel and found Goldie's Bagels. It's a small Jewish deli, bakery shop and it hit the spot! The venue is on small side, but cozy and does have a few tables for in place dining. Service was quick and courteous- and the food was spot on. My lox and cream cheese bagel was fresh and tasty. Red onions were just enough and thinly sliced which made them just right in terms of the melding of flavors. I also have to say the raspberry rugelach is one of the best I have ever had! Goldie's bagels is a must go for anyone in Columbia. It is by far the best bagel in town and the atmosphere is very cute. Growing up in Philadelphia I was always able to get great bagels and lox or whitefish. Who would have thought that in the middle of Columbia Missouri in the middle of the state that's in the middle of the country there would be an amazing bagel shop. The lox on an everything bagel was everything I remembered it to be. The bagels have a great bite and tear to them. They are not soft and chewy like other bagels out here. They have some pastries but I didn't try them. Next time I will for sure be trying the challah French toast!! read more

I'm soooo glad Goldies opened last year, we needed the perfect bagel place in Como & they are doing such a good job!!!! They don't take online orders, you just show up & order at the counter. I recommend going earlier rather than later because the bagels are gone, they're gone for the day. Goldie's Bagels are super soft on the inside and kinda crunchy on the outside. Today I got a tzitzel bagel with their vegan cream cheese, but I've also had their scallion cream cheese, and everything bagel. I never go to Columbia but was passing through and, as you know, I love bagels. I went out of my way to stop at Goldie's Bagels on a Tuesday for lunch. They have a pastrami special that is freshly steamed. I ordered the pastrami special which was pastrami and mustard on rye, a pickle, a side of mayonnaise coleslaw, and a bag of Ruffles. The rye bread was delicious. It was hearty and had the tzitzel on the crust. The pastrami had good flavor and tasted fresh but the sandwich ate slightly dry. The pickle was great. I don't really understand the Ruffles or the mayonnaise coleslaw or what value they added to the plate. I took 3 bagels and 6 Nutella Rugelach to-go. The blueberry bagel was not good and the tzitzel bagel was OK. The rugelach was really delicious but tasted more like a phyllo dough than a rugelach dough. Cute store in downtown near the campus. Wow, hands down the best bagel with lox in the world, and I eat at least one a week. As in, superb. I don't know if it is the cucumbers, lemon and herb, or if the bagel itself matters that much, but the combination works. Presentation and service great. Served on reusable plastic plates dining in. Amazing bagels. One of my friends comes to Goldie's every time she visits CoMo and has been raving about this place to us St. Louisans for years -- this weekend we visited CoMo and came here for the first time and instantly understood why our friend was so obsessed. The bagels are well made, chewy and tender, with a lovely soft bite to the outside. My friend favors the Tzitzel bagel (cornmeal), and my partner and I tried the poppy and sesame bagels, respectively. The bagels themselves are vegan (as all good bagels should be, excepting dairy flavors!), and they offer seasonal cream cheese flavors which are made in house, as well as a house made vegan spread which was made with cashews, lemon, olive oil and tahini, and it was very tasty (I got the vegan option, I'm lactose intolerant). Additionally the space was very well kept and clean, and the bakers and staff very friendly and helpful. I like places which have a mixture of good service and homey help-yourself vibes, and between the helpful staff at the counter and the self-serve coffee and water with all unique mismatching mugs blended those two aspects wonderfully. We will now also be visiting Goldie's every time we come through CoMo, too! read more

My friend recommended Goldie's Bagel since I was visiting Columbia. I decided to give it a try. I will have to say, I am impressed. I ordered the yenta, my bagel of choice was the everything bagel, with scallion cream cheese and lux. Lux is the thin sliced salmon. The entire combination was so flavorful. The employees did a really good job with suggesting this! If you are getting a bagel, I suggest your staple choice should be the everything bagel and the scallion cream cheese.
