When I'm in COMO I enjoy frequenting different shops. I've had my fair share of different drinks here and have a good comparison to the same drink styles with other shops. This shop has three stand outs to me. If you're Just a simple coffee drinker - try the Madagascar vanilla nut. If you like (hot) chai lattes they have my favorite out there so far! I tried a frozen lemonade recently and it's so yummy and refreshing during the summer. One location is open until late evening which I think is awesome. I find myself wanting a late coffee now and again but most importantly I respect later hours because it gives students a place to go outside of their home to get a drink and work done in a comfortable environment. read more

Another one of my favorite coffee shops in Como! I've made many trips to this coffee shop just to buy bags of beans to brew at home (one of the cheaper options in Columbia, yet still quality beans). One of my favorites is the Madagascar Vanilla Nut (whole bean, of course). The staff at the south location is always so helpful and friendly. The inside is super cozy and there's a few different rooms to find a place to study or work. One of my favorite treats that they offer is an affogato served with local Sparky's ice cream! The hours here are unbeatable. It's close to Rock Bridge High School, so it can get really loud and crowded after school with kids just hanging out. They have a good selection of food and drinks. Priced about average for coffee, but their other drinks (smoothies) are super overpriced. The wifi was spotty. They have a front and back WiFi, which is confusing since they're one shop. Parking is limited out front, especially when it gets busy. People start parking on the road. read more

First time visitor to this coffee house while I was visiting friends from out of state ... I ordered a SF latte and it was way too sweet! I asked the barista if I could have some ice and milk to tame it down a bit. I was informed I'd need to purchase the milk if I needed more. Disappointed is an understatement. It's not that Its not about actually paying for the milk, but in all honesty this felt like an easy fix to have a satisfied customer. After I ordered, I realized I forgot to change my milk option and one of the baristas changed my milk option free of charge. The coffee shop is busy for sure. After a year of meaning to try this place, I have now visited The Grind more times than I care to count this summer. The coffee is excellent, as are several of their specialty drinks. Typically, I drink black coffee, but I was talked into trying their "adult chocolate milk" the last time I stopped in, and boy am I glad I was. This surprisingly delicious drink is a cold brew coffee with milk and both dark and white chocolate added in. They've managed to balance just the right level of sweetness without overpowering the flavor of the cold brew. Additionally, every member of staff I've met has been extremely friendly and inviting, as is the owner who can often be found helping out behind the bar. The atmosphere is not as cozy as some of Columbia's downtown options (e.g. Lakota or Coffee Zone), but is still very comfortable, with plenty of seating and outlets, a nice fireplace, and great outdoor deck. The only complaint I might raise is that the music is sometimes a bit loud for studying or even carrying on a conversation. That being said, I do love their song selection. All in all, if you haven't been to the Grind yet, get yourself down to the south side of town. I promise, it'll be worth the trip. read more

My favorite place to study in Columbia when the library feels too cloistered. They have a good tea selection, the fruit smoothies are delicious, and coffee drinks are okay. It's quiet and open until midnight everyday, even Sunday. A truly lovely coffee shop with an amazing atmosphere and great drink selection. Located right across the street from the high school and relatively close to the university, The Grind is the perfect spot to study/work, host a casual meeting, or meet with some friends to catch up and chat. Their porch is absolutely spectacular when the weather is nice and their Wifi is reliable and fast. All of their standard drinks are fantastic, but I would definitely recommend giving their Chai Latte and their Adult Chocolate Milk (which is made with cold brew, mocha, white mocha, and milk) a try. If you're a fan of smoothies but still want your caffeine fix, then their Red Bull Berry Blaster is amazing, and I highly recommend their Chipotle Chicken Panini if you need a quick bite to eat. Their Grinders are phenomenal if you want something a bit more sugary, and the service is fantastic. Aucky, the owner, is one of the kindest and friendliest people I've ever met and I love that they source the majority of their products from local businesses. read more

Fantastic coffee. This was an accidental find for us while traveling. Our order consisted of hot coffee, flavored iced coffee, a latte, two bagels and hummus toast. All three of us were impressed with how good the coffee was. The food was fine too but nothing spectacular. The person who waited on us was very pleasant. All around good experience. We bought food and drinks at The Grind this morning. The coffee drinks were good and the atmosphere and building were nice! The staff was barely friendly and the bagel sandwich was dry! My wife had a toasted bagel with cream cheese and it was dry and over toasted! The photos on Yelp showing beautiful desserts and pastries in the display case that did not exist! I cannot commend Aucky enough on this beautiful coffee shop. The atmosphere is very modern, sharp, and stocked with extremely friendly employees who are eager to answer questions and help out in any way that they can. I ordered the Caramel Macchiato, and I probably could have had 3 if I didn't think that the caffeine would put me over the edge. The price was fair, the coffee was just indescribable. The bakery goodies are brought in from the Upper Crust, and I can appreciate the partnership that they are establishing with other local businesses. This is one of the only places I go to sit down and study. The vibe is very cozy and homey, especially with the huge couch they have in the corner. If you want to site outside, they have plenty of outdoor seating too. It's also great that they have longer hours and are even open 24hrs during finals season, so if you often find yourself pulling a late night cram session this is the perfect place. I also love how they support other local businesses (like B&B bagel) by selling their products in store. Another really cool idea is their music playlist, they let you put song suggestions in a box for them to add to the playlist and you can also access it on spotify to listen to later. The coffee is good, although I'm not really a coffee aficionado or anything. I tend to go for plain iced coffee or iced green tea if I'm in the mood for something simple, but if I'm craving sweets I go for a mocha or one of their many grinders (which are like Starbucks Frappuccinos). Speaking of which, they have tons of different flavors of grinders, and they can be made with Sparky's ice cream (another local business in CoMo). You can get anything from your basic coffee to crazy flavors like peanut butter cup or cotton candy. Additionally, they can put a bunch of different flavor syrups into your coffee drinks, so if you want a toasted marshmallow latte or a raspberry cappuccino there are countless combinations. We are just passing through and I needed some coffee. I love local coffee shops, but usually local places have limited hours, not the Grind Coffee House! They have later hours which makes them a great choice and worth the detour. What also made me choose this coffee place was because they offer many flavor choice like a Toffee Mocha. They will make your coffee how you like it! They even have a wide variety of baked goods like scones and muffins. They had my favorite a chocolate macaroon. I'm very pleased with our visit, and I would be excited to come here again. The owner said he is looking for a second location closer to the high way, so that would be nice for those who are passing through. read more

Best coffee I have ever tasted, I can't remember what particular brand they use but I believe they are the only ones in town that carries it. This place puts the big chain to shame. I have tried a few different drinks here and absolutely loved them. The atmosphere is so relaxing and cozy, there is even a fireplace.
