I am a big coffee shop lover and i thought this place was okay. i like a coffee shop that has lots of space and can hold a ton of people but this one is very small. in the summer and spring, i can see this place being nice with the outside open. I ordered the chocolate lava cake latter with raspberry cold foam and thought it tasted like a rich mocha! I liked the cold foam as well. My favorite part was the pebble ice in the drink. Customer service was great!! They took their time to make the drink which I appreciated. They were nice to all customers and made conversation with a few people! read more

On my way out of town I needed to stop and get coffee, lucky for me The Grind was right across the street from the gas station I was at! The barista recommended her favorite drink, a quad shot, over ice, with salted caramel syrup, and sweet cream! It was absolutely phenomenal!!!! I also got an egg and cheese sandwich, super yummy! They made my drink and sandwich quick, they were very kind and had great recommendations! The space itself was set up to be useful for studying or catching up with friends, it also had the best roasted coffee smell!! I am excited to go back the next time I visit Como! read more

Driving through we wanted to give this place a try. Once you walked in the smell was so lovely. The staff was friendly. The women's bathroom was broken but the men's bathroom was so gross... I ordered what I usually order but the coffee was too too sweet for my liking. Not even the creamer or the sugar. The coffee just was not it for me. It was not my favorite place to go. But the menu had many other things. And probably others would enjoy this spot. Just my usual was not good enough for me. read more

This is a nice location to grab a protein smoothie or some "protein balls" after pumping some iron upstairs. Honestly thought a thunderstorm started even though it was sunny outside. Not an ideal place to sit down. Now on to the coffee. I was interested in their pour over option and asked what they were offering. After scrambling around a bit, one of the baristas pulled out a drawer with old bags of coffee and proceeded to name off what they use for pour overs, the first one being a flavored coffee. Who does pour overs of flavored coffee? These guys do apparently. I just asked for their drip at that point. They had 2 flavored coffees and a medium roast coffee "Black and Gold". This is the coffee you can expect from a large coffee chain. The scent reminded me of sushi rice, the flavor is also very savory. It's inconsistent which means part of the beans roasted are dark or over roasted and part of them are light or under roasted. I've had better gas station coffee. I also ordered a sausage, egg and cheese croissant which was decent and some protein balls. We'll see what those are all about later. Overall, if you're working out at the gym upstairs, this place is for you! There are a lot of protein smoothies and what not for after your leg day treat. read more

A couple times a year we visit relatives in St Louis and Columbia is about the halfway point between there our house. We discovered the Grind a couple years back and make it a point to stop there on the way down or back home or sometimes both on our trips. Each time the coffee and staff are great and the food they have that we've tried is also fantastic! This location is not far off the highway and is much better then the major coffee chains that you can have anywhere. Next time you are in Columbia or passing through check them out! read more

Love the drive through option for the grind, but the drive through took absoutely forever. We were only getting 2 simple drinks and waited 15+ min with 2 cars in front of us. I'd still prefer the South location - much faster service despite no drive through. read more

Visited twice while in Columbia visiting my daughter and her partner. Her partner highly recommended this as their favorite coffee house in the area. Service friendly and fast, location very clean, everyone really enjoyed their beverages. First day I ordered a toffee mocha and it was delish, the second time an iced Americano and it was also wonderful. Boyfriend got a hot Americano the first time and declared it perfect, second time a Caramel Macchiato, and same. If we lived in the area we would absolutely be regulars. We also purchased a bag of The Grind coffee at Hy-Vee before flying home, just a good, solid dark roast. read more

Drove 10 min to get a plain iced latte just for it to taste like water and oatmilk. I never have problems at the south grind but I probably will never go back here again. I don't know how you mess up a plain iced latte. Im not exaggerating, it was pretty bad. The service was good though and I usually love the grind. read more

Not the best drip coffee I've ever had but good nonetheless and I liked the quiet atmosphere on this particular Sunday morning. Could probably seat 15-20 inside and has patio seating too. Egg and cheese croissant was good. They had scones, protein balls and bagels too. Friendly service. read more

We stopped in on Christmas Eve on our way from STL to KC. We had a matcha tea latte which was perfectly sweet for me, and an iced chai tea, which my wife loved. The real star of our visit was the salted caramel cookie - damn! The space was very inviting and I could easily see working there or meeting a friend. The two ladies working could not have been nicer, despite us coming in within 30 mins of closing. It's not a trip we make often, but we will definitely stop here again when we come through Columbia! read more

We went here in the afternoon, a little bit before the afternoon rush. The service was great and very friendly. The coffee and smoothie that we got were made quickly and tasted great! There is an little area to sit down and talk/ do homework, which if it is busy can be packed. Overall it is a great place to just grab a quick drink, or to sit down for. The JavaMan is a bit of a snob when it comes to coffee shops. I will say, this one made me appreciate the green-mermaid chain. The latte I ordered was almost like a gas station coffee drink being made by a machine. My wife said the same thing about hers. The facility looks very new and was very clean. The bathroom was clean and well stocked with supplies. One thing nice and not so nice is the staff were very much working as a team ~ almost family-like with each other. The not so nice part of that is ... they have a tendency then to make the customer feel NOT part of the family ... especially first time visitors. I would come back here, if I was in a pinch for some coffee. For me, there are other places in town that are more appealing. Kaldi's, Fretboard, and evening the green mermaid chain are a few I would shoot for first. read more

The enormous window is gorgeous and makes the space feel so much more open than it is. But after about noon, it gets incredibly bright, such that the space becomes nigh unusable. 2. I Was excited to try a new coffee shop on the north side of town. But was very disappointed. The house blend, "black and gold" tastes like water and their "bold blend" rises to the level of early afternoon gas station coffee. Nope wasn't just an off day either. I returned at least 3 times inside and 3 times through the drive thru. Each time ordering hoping something would be good or not watered down. The atmosphere is inviting and I like that its never crowded, staff is friendly and accommodating but the coffee stinks. Also the wifi cuts in and out constantly! Therefore not really free wifi! Even the music, which is not my taste or idea of coffee house music, goes on and off due to connection problems. Overall not worth stopping. read more

The coffee is great, when they get it right. I always ask for a latte, no flavor, just plain, and about 50% of the time I get a latte that is sickening sweet. The drive thru is painfully slow. If there are more than 2 cars ahead of you, plan on spending 20+ minutes in line. Going inside is a bit faster. Don't go there if you're looking to get a quick drink to go on the way to work. read more
