Goldie's Donuts & Bakery has a few locations, and we were customers of this particular location east of Cleveland. Goldie's freshly hand-makes their donuts and pastries daily. Examples of donut flavors are chocolate, vanilla, maple, cinnamon, and fruits such as blueberry and apple. Pastries include danishes, croissants, brownies, muffins, cookies, etcetera. Some beverages such as coffees and teas are also sold. We bought an apple fritter, Boston-cream donut, glazed donut, strawberry-jelly donut, and apple donut. We thought that they tasted very good. Came in at about 12 pm on a Sunday afternoon. Their cases were not really full but luckily not bare. Still lots of glazed donuts, but no glazed croissants which I wanted to try because I heard they were known for those. The glazed donut was pretty good. I also got a marble cake donut (chocolate and vanilla cake), what had glaze on top. I liked that better. Overall they were fine donuts, definitely an upgrade from Dunkin Donuts. Tried to place an advance order for donuts and coffee for Sunday Morning. Today is Friday but was rejected. Older woman with coloring in her hair curtly told me they have too many orders for this weekend. You're telling me you have so much business that you can't put together an order of 3 dozen donuts and two containers of coffee!? She didn't even ask me for a time so it's pretty obvious she was just in a mood. There have been other reviews where people have complained about a rude older woman that works there. I found out about Goldie's through a Yelp Elite Experience in late March 2022. I never would have known about this bakery if it wasn't for Yelp Cleveland because I don't live in the area, so thanks Yelp. Their donuts are fresh and they have different assortments. This review; however, is not for their donuts. While Yelp treated me to 6 free donuts back on Monday, 28 March 2022, I also wanted to buy something while I was there so I could support the business and have the ability to write this review of course. OTHER NON-DONUT ITEMS -- I bought a Chocolate Chip Doughsicle ($4) which is shaped like a popsicle. It was almost similar to a cake on a stick or a CAKE POP. The doughsicle was sweet and soft. I recommend drinking a cup of hot tea (unsweetened) while biting into the doughsicle because it is very sweet - I didn't have tea on hand and felt the sweetness of the doughsicle. I also bought a Peanut Butter Cookie Dough ($4) which is edible without baking. I haven't baked the cookie dough yet but I tried a little bit of it and it tasted a little too sweet. It was fine. Both baked goods that I bought are indeed expensive for such a small item but a local baker arrives every Monday morning to bake them fresh, right in the store. Thus, you're getting a quality product. Every baked good is made fresh, in-house, so if you live on the east side then stop on in. So these are by far my favorite donuts! However, my only problem is sanitation issues. My first experience the cashier licked her finger to get wax paper. I immediately left and called management to report. Went back this weekend, and the clerk had her fingers in her mouth again while taking my order. I left without purchasing again. The fritter was huge and my favorite. They didn't have a line when I visited so service was prompt. They also have a drive through if that makes things easier for you. Dropped in on this delightful doughnut shop while in Cleveland before hitting the road and returning home. It was probably my favorite part of the short trip and the best thing I ate while there. I love a good doughnut, and these did not disappoint. Grabbed a half dozen, with the maple cream, chocolate cream, cherry cake, sprinkle, some form of crunch (the specific name I cannot recall, but it was delicious!), and I believe their signature glazed sourcream. Technically, it was supposed to be two doughnuts for each person, but if you have someone willing to split each doughnut, you get to try out more. ;) I loved these doughnuts because they were fresh, soft, light, and not greasy and heavy. You could taste the flavor in everything. The cream was also good, just enough of it without being too overpowering or sweet or too dry when there isn't enough of it. All the doughnuts were most. You didn't realize how often you find yourself eating a dry choke doughnut until you actually find some that aren't. I loved the maple cream. It was just sweet enough, and so good. It was probably my favorite of the bunch. It's a small little place... simple, no huge fanfare and none of the frills. Doughnuts, much like cupcakes, have become all designer and gimmicky now, but keeping it simple is where you can't go wrong. The woman who served me, maybe the owner, was incredibly nice and friendly. The next time I'm in town, I'm coming back to Goldie's.
