I've been buying cakes at casa dolce for many years and this week I ordered a special cake for birthday and I was totally disappointed. I raised my concerns to the owner and her comment to me was that she was out of town for the weekend and would not take any responsibility for the botched cake. She charged me over $100 dollars for a half a sheet cake cracked in half . I spoke to her today to share my concerns and the owner Margie Axelrod had zero empathy for the situation offering no options but tried to defend the situation by saying their cake designers do not make the customer cakes like they did in the past. My question now is, why are they charging the same. read more

Excellent local bakery with very good bakery items. Open setting with lots of room to browse around and a few spots to sit. Friendly staff that are patient and helpful in making selections. The muffins and danish were amazing. Fresh with great flavor. Other food options looked great. Looking forward to coming back to get lunch. read more

This was my first time visiting, I was in the area and stopped in for a treat. Super cute store, just filled with yummy food and desserts. The ladies working there were super nice and helpful as i took forever deciding what to get lol. My bf got the blueberry muffin and caramel vanilla cheesecake on the left of the photo. On the right side of the photo i got the almond tiramisu and a chocolate claw cookie. The tiramisu was soooo good its an absolute must try! This review is for the creme brulee only. The custard is thick, rich, and velvety. THIS custard has weight. THIS custard has a strong gravitational pull. For one, it is dense, and for another reason, it'll have you reminiscing about it from time to time. (I don't want to think it could possibly just be me...) Say, "Alexa. Play Blue Velvet by Lana Del Rey." And proceed to take your first spoon over the caramel layer when she starts the song with "mmm...". Try not to cry. although even if you do, ...salted caramel is still very much en vogue. Casa Dolce Rocks! I am avoiding sugar, flour, & all the typical ingredients in baked goods. We asked Casa Dolce if they would make Keto cupcakes with no sugar or regular flour, and they agreed. They used Almond & Coconut flour and sugar alternatives. The result was amazing - delicious chocolate cupcakes with rich, creamy frosting. Major props to Casa Dolce for accommodating our request - they were the only bakery in the area who would do this for us. We got our son a birthday cake here for his second birthday. Obviously with everything going on in the world right now, this made the situation a bit unique. Casa Dolce was my first choice to go to since we live down the street, but they were also one of the few places actually open with the virus going around (I didn't want to go to Giant Eagle - rather spend money with a small business). The order was for a following day, and we wanted it to be simple and be anything train related (since our now 2 year old is obsessed with trains). We ordered an 8' double layered almond cake with buttercream frosting. It was delicious and everyone loved it. I would recommend Casa Dolce to anyone for custom cakes. read more

Tried their Kale salad, at $15/pound it was quite pricey. The croutons were so soggy and horrible. Would have expected better for half the cost, but at that price, that's unacceptable. Croutons should not be stored with a salad that has dressing on it! Shouldn't a caterer know this? The only reason I still gave 3 stars is that the almond cake was so good as was their buttercream icing. Even though they put on much too much buttercream flowers on small cakes. The owner could save a lot of time and money and reduce those flowers. I'm sure many people throw out a large amount of that icing. read more

On a Sunday, I brought a cake. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and helped. The person offered to write a message for me on the cake. While I waited, I was able to see all of the yummy looking food offered here. After looking, I decided to also buy cupcakes, a donut, a coffee, and a birthday card. This review is for cake orders only - the food is fine, service is good, but would not recommend for decorated cakes. The cakes taste good, so if that is your primary concern, then they're great. This was my go-to bakery for our family's bday cakes (pre- and during Covid) and they've been awesome - super cute and I could trust that they'd turn out great with very little direction. However, the last two orders have been totally off the mark and looked like basic grocery store cakes - which does not match the cost of said cakes. I don't know if it's because the staff taking orders doesn't write down the requests or if the decorators don't have the skills but I got burned once and was not thrilled with the outcome on the second chance cake, so I won't be ordering from here again. read more

Extremely disappointing. I decided to get my sons FIRST birthday cake from here. Not only was the cake Discusting but the owner was almost worse. She was extremely rude when I picked up the cake , when I was ordering she was rude just as she was when I picked up. I got a sampling of baked goods on a whim which included the strawberry cheesecake, sticky bun, tea cake, and a cannoli. The pastries were generally very beautiful with shiny glaze, varied textures, giant granular sugar, it made picking only a few desserts pretty difficult. The flavor department wasn't lacking at all. The cheesecake struck a good balance between sweet and creamy while the sticky bun balanced the ratio of nuts to caramel perfectly. The tea cake was probably my favorite of the bunch, it had plenty of crumbly layers and a fresh-tasting raspberry filling. My only complaint would be that the pastries were in general on the denser side and the selection somewhat traditional. The density problem may have been the selection of stuff I got so I suppose I'll just have to come back again to see how they do in the delicate and flaky department of things... read more

what has happened to the quality at Casa Dolce? friends brought us two cupcakes and a box of cookies. The cookies were stale or had been previously frozen. we threw out half of them. i had put the cupcakes in fridge and had taken them out to get to room temp. as I looked closer the fruit that was on them had mold on it! I am sure that these were not cheap as well. pitched those as well. Today bought a cranberry orange muffin, again was not freshly made. Terrible! The cake was Cassata--Sicilian style pound cake with layers of cream and strawberries. It was moist and delicious. We had the choice to pick up curbside or go in. We went in to see the bakery. I'm a bit saddened that this is my first time being in this delectable bakery. I did have a conversation with my husband about keeping these spots a secret from me. Lol! The bakery itself was adorable! The wonderful young lady behind the counter was extremely patient while we looked and let us sample some of the salads. She answered all of our questions and really sold the products. But, if you look at them. They kind of sell themselves. Lol! We ended up coming home with a little bit of everything. From grilled vegetable to brownies. I've already eaten the sugar cookie. For some reason, those will always be my all time favorite things. It was incredibly tasty. Prices are okay and good for the quality you receive. My only issue is the service. The older woman is rude and curt. The younger woman was very nice. This is the 2nd time we've had bad service. Casa Dolce belongs to the rather narrow yet pretty elite category of businesses who can "make a cake like Hough used to make." If you're not from Cleveland, forget-about-it; the best I can tell you is that Hough cake had almond extract in the mix, and buttercream frosting. Casa Dolce has a case full of ready-made Hough-type cakes up front; plus I think they sell slices or cupcakes made in this variety. Casa Dolce also has "real food"- ready prepared in two deli cases and selections include higher-end stuff like calamari, chicken cacciatore, and of course pasta. You can have them heat up your food and sit in a few tables inside. The food is high quality but what kept me from giving them a higher rating is their prices are pretty much #HighwayRobbery. My most recent visit I purchased two average-looking cupcakes and my jaw hit the floor when I was told my total was $8.50! I've attached a photo of the five-dollar cupcake. Hey, the east side of CLE is pricey and we don't have as many choices as #teamWestSide . But this is no White Flower Cake Shop cupcake; which will at least look really pretty for five bucks. read more

I ordered a dozen small pastries and two muffins and was amazed at how expensive it was. When I was walking out I witnessed how rude the Owner Margie talks to her staff. I debated returning my items but decided I'd try them anyways. I had to spit everything out and throw them away. The pastries and muffins tasted old and freezer burnt. This is more than just a bakery. They have a surprising amount of prepared foods and do catering as well. There are fresh soups, and sandwiches made to order. I can't imagine them possibly selling all of the food they pre-made before it expires, possibly some was for a large catering event. Large platters of food sitting out at room temp made me wonder, so I got a hot Cuban sandwich. It was good, but not the best, and certainly not worth $9.50. Odd place.
