(1 Star) Be very careful when signing any agreement at Gold's Gym Chantilly, especially for personal training or membership renewals. Make sure you read every line and ask exactly how you can cancel or terminate your contract before signing. The staff did not explain the cancellation policy clearly to me. I was a member from 2023 to 2026 and signed up for personal training to help with shoulder pain. I only registered for 7 sessions, but the program was very expensive and difficult to stop once started. Even after canceling, the payments continued, and I was charged an early termination fee equal to another month's payment. When I tried to resolve this issue, the manager didn't contact his supervisors or make an effort to understand my situation to solve the problem. Overall, a very disappointing experience. Make sure you double-check everything before signing. read more

I was in Virginia last year and thought that I was getting a temporary membership and provided a credit card to pay for the time that I was there. I was on my credit card today to review charges and noticed a charge from this gym. When I looked back, I had over $700 in charges for the last 12 months, so I attempted to cancel ASAP. First, tracking down the cancellation process took an act of Congress and once I got on the line, the finance company advised me that there was a membership contract and that my 30-day notice would take effect in September with an additional $160 in charges between now and then. But, great news as I can use my membership until October from Georgia! Shame on me for trusting the person that signed me up. Shame on me for not reviewing my credit card statements until now. However, those behaviors are what these gym's are designed to take advantage of. It shouldn't be 10x harder to cancel a Gold's Gym membership than it is to enroll in one. read more

I was a member of this gym from June 2024 - January 2025. I joined this Gold's gym as was starting to get burnt out driving 13 miles to my favorite gym in Ashburn (The Shop!). Route 28 was starting to get the best of me with more people RTO, getting home was slow. So I took advantage of a flash sale and joined this gym as a back up. What I liked was that it had more equipment than Planet Fitness. I was very happy that at mid day this gym never got busy. Even though this gym still only had 1 leg extension machine and 1 seated leg curl, there was a high probability that it would be available at 2pm. There were enough lifters there, most of them knowing what they were doing to keep me motivated. Saw one person I knew which really improved my mood for those workouts. They had a lot of abdominal equipment, unlike my favorite gym, my abs were in the best condition during my time at this gym. I liked the stretching room with the bar to start off my workouts. What I didn't like and made me cancel: 1. Too many people that didn't have gym etiquette and were rude. On my 2nd day I had an older man came up to me, mid set, to complain about me super setting with two pieces of equipment next to each other. I offered that he could work in, he didn't even want to use the equipment. He wanted to argue. Management did not revoke his membership for being a bully, but the man never bothered me again. 2. This gym is dirty. During the 6 months going here I would see the same smudges on the mirrors for weeks. I have never seen an employee clean anything. The equipment is never cleaned other than the members wiping down the equipment themselves. I didn't like the cheap disinfecting wipes they ordered. They would get the equipment wet, but never felt confident the equipment was clean - which made the stretching room feel like I was going to contract a skin infection at some point. 3. Front desk personnel were mostly unfriendly. There was one employee that was there when I became a member, he was friendly. All others were not friendly, which set the mood for your time there. It is hard to respect a place, when they don't respect you when you walk through their door. 4. The music was painfully bad. If I heard "I only want to dance with somebody by Whitney Houston during my workout one more time...oh god I would just start to grunt a bit to muffle the music just a little. 5. Price gouging on protein snacks. If Golds didn't give the retail area so much real estate, they can lower the prices. They charged $2 more than my other gym for a Lean body protein shake. I gave a score of 3 stars because the parking was always easy for me, given the time of day I would arrive. I could take all back road to this location so it was very convenient. The price per month was fair and I respected that. The equipment is better than a Planet Fitness, but with the space and the empty room in the back that was blocked off more weight machines would have been better. read more

I've been coming to Silver Sneakers for a few months, and finally decided to take them up on their offer of one free session with a personal trainer. The dozens of machines are confusing at first glance. I was introduced to Mariah, a soft-spoken young woman, who asked me about my condition and goals, and then guided me through a variety of exercises. I quickly learned not to underestimate her, because while pleasant to work with, she's a combat medic with the Army Reserve, and a swim instructor to boot. I was very impressed with her professionalism and knowledge. She quickly sized up my condition and calibrated movements to my ability. Based on that first session alone, I signed up for regular workouts. I just finished my first week of sessions , and I find I really look forward to them. It's a deluxe experience to be guided through your workout, having each machine's seat and weight adjusted for you. It makes it very efficient as well, and the time flies by. We've been working on leg strength, and today I surprised myself by standing up much more quickly than usual from a machine! I'm very glad to have her expert guidance. My name is Tiffany and I'm out shape! HAHA I joined Golds Gym in Feb and it has been awesome for the most part. I do Golds Fit or Golds Burn usually 3-4 times a week with Caroline, Eduardo or Matt! They're all amazing trainers/coaches! They don't make me feel uncomfortable, and I've learned so much training with them! If you commit to coming here 3-4x a week, it's worth the membership upgrade. However, I do miss Bull coaching our classes too! I took away one star because this club is enforcing covid guidelines to a degree. However, I see many members without a mask. it's quite frustrating given the current guidelines for VA. However, our classes are in a separate area and everyone in our training group follows guidelines! read more

Just a normal golds gym. Has enough equipment from free weights, machines, and some squat racks. My only complaint is that one of the squat racks has a wobbly platform - and it's been like that for at least a year. It's a fairly clean gym with regularly fixed machines. I tend to not see anything "out of order" for more than a week. My only gripe is some of the staff just look miserable... so not sure what's going on there. read more

I was interested in a specific cardio dance class without to sign up for a membership. When I have asked how much does it cost the hourly class it was told me they don't have that option. The options were , to purchase the daily pass or to enroll with a membership. Honestly I don't have words, a client asks you to pay for an hourly class and you don't have that option. The staff was very helpful, I work in Chantilly during the week but live in Richmond and have my membership there. The staff was very understating and they allowed me to work out, which I really appreciate since I'm not a member of their specific facility and they didn't have to do that. I don't have a lot of problem with the gym. I joined today and the staff was friendly. Big open area with a lot of stuff to use and they have some decent classes. My biggest problem is that there is no water pressure and hot water. I can take 5 min hot shower or take 35 min with no pressure!!!! aargggh! Several sections of the gym are closed off because Gold's wants to upsell members on BS. I'm looking forward to the opening of The Fitness Equation in South Riding. It looks all great and all until you actually come in to workout. Cardio equipment is fine and clean and by clean I mean no dust and all and some folks don't wipe the equipment after their workout so be sure to wipe before and after your workout. (Especially in the flu season) The free weight section is all men all the time and really no privacy in any way. Weight machines are the same. It's a small gym with so many people trying to get a workout done. Another 3 part of the gym is reserved for paid group classes which is not being used whenever I am at the gym. Waisted space if you ask me. If they open up all these areas there will be enough space for everyone to spread out. I am not impressed but the location is convenient for me. Equipment is new and the staff is nice and welcoming but the rest of the gym is not ideal in any way. read more

Sorry, but this ain't it chief. I joined when they were still on sullyfield circle and I actually liked that set up of the gym -- there were dedicated areas. Not now at this new location. Everything is one giant open room with only one closed off group classroom now (other location had 2). Other location had cardio cinema, none here. The one open group area I've seen only used once. There's no mirrors by the squat/lifting platforms. If there were a better option for me, I'd choose it, but for now this is the most convenient place. Sigh. read more

Just joined a little over a month ago. The gym is actually a lot smaller than what I thought it would be. This is due to the fact that they have 3 or 4 rooms for classes, which I guess is an add on to the cost of the regular gym membership. I like that the equipment is new and somebody is always cleaning. Nice selection of cardio machines. However, it really does feel as if everybody is working out in one big room. There isn't a lot of space to walk around other people or machines either. A big peeve of mine is the lack of mirrors in this place. There aren't any in front of the squat racks, it's so strange. Instead you have to squint and stare at your reflection in the classroom windows. A huge plus is their gym daycare if you're a parent. I have a toddler who loves going there. Emmy is in charge and is great with all the kids! read more

But as you step onto the gym floor you'll realize the game they're playing: In order to upsell classes and other "premium" BS no lifter wants or cares about? Less than 25% of the building is actually gym floor / equipment. Meaning you'll be waiting for machines. Every time. All the time. Add in the shockingly limited hours and I cannot fathom why anyone wanting to get into shape (let alone bulk up) would go here. This isn't your Dad's Gold's gym. Avoid at all costs. read more

The studios for classes are great and the instructors are fantastic! I see merit in some of the reviews about the general workout area being open concept. I admittedly don't often use that area, but when I have used the equipment out there, I found it significantly more up-to-date than most gyms. Plus it's new and quite clean. I happen to love their morning classes, primarily the Body Pump classes but others too. I'm hesitant to rave about them too much because it's nice that they're not overly crowded. But there is plenty of room for more participants and I would also hate to see them canceled by management for lack of popularity. It really is a nice, new, modern gym. read more

I went to this location to have my regular work , just because the normal location that I go to is closed for remodeling. I decided to use one of the rooms that is for stretching and small weights to work out my arms. When I entered, there there was a lady training someone, but she did not say anything to me about not being there when trainers were training their customers. The trainer finished with her customer and left. In less than 5 minutes, this male trainer came with a customer to train him. I was not close to them, not bothering them at all. Suddenly, the trainer came to me and told me that I was not allowed to be there when they were training a customer, so I told him, "Well, that is interesting because, the trainer that was here before you did not say anything to me about it. The trainer decided to call the manager of the gym to let him know that I was inside the room. I went to speak with the manager and explained to him that the trainer that was there before never told me that I was not allowed to be there. The manager's response was that I was not supposed to be there. Also, there was no sign at all that people were not supposed to be there when they were training someone. The manager started fighting with me back and forth and not giving me the best customer service. I told the manager that I was at this location for the first time, and nobody told me at the front desk the rules about this gym. How can they expect a new customer to follow rules that they don't tell anyone else about, and don't post any signs regarding them and then argue with a customer?! Exactly what kind of service is this and why is it only enforced with select people? Had the manager made a decision to discuss in a civil way with respect, then this could have gone much differently. read more

I have met a lot of people who aren't very intelligent in my life. I don't even consider myself to be all that smart. There are tons of people who aren't smart that can be very successful by working hard. After talking to the management at this location, I can't tell if they are lazy, or if they aren't capable of performing tasks simple enough for a middle school student. I had a relatively common problem with my account that happened once before at the Sullyfield Circle location, so I knew it could be fixed by the GM in 5 minutes. It took 2 months for me to get any type of response... then when I got a response, I was told by the GM that "it's not something we can do". I thought it was weird because it had been done before so I walked up to the front desk and asked them for help. The front desk associate magically fixed my problem in 5 minutes like last time. I started asking around and it seemed like a lot of people also had stories about the management not knowing how to fix account problems but then the front desk associate fixes it for them in no time. Problems as simple as freezing a membership, fixing a billing issue where someone was billed twice for the same month on accident, or even recording signatures for a person who signed up over the phone. So now I am concerned... what does the management there actually do? Are they capable of performing any day to day tasks? What if their cars run out of gas? What if they get hungry? What if they need to wash their clothes? Do they bring front desk workers with them everywhere they go? I am starting to become concerned with their well-being. I can understand if they aren't the sharpest knife in the drawer but if I am being honest, I think they're just lazy. There are two in particular, a man and a woman, that I don't know if I would trust to work at any job because I haven't heard a story yet about them being helpful for anything more than handing over a towel. My advice: Talk to the front desk staff if there is something management hasn't done. They've been very sweet and understanding to me and a lot of times they have kept me from canceling my membership. The gym is nice, it's just run by stooges. read more

I was a member here for 2 years and only discontinued my membership due to moving out of the state. There is a wide variety of free weights and machines to use and it is rarely overcrowded to the point where you have to wait to use it them. The entire staff here is incredible, especially Vanessa and the manager Jon. Even though my membership expired the day before I moved, Jon let me workout on that day regardless. Can't say enough good things about this place. I would recommend this gym to anyone. read more

This is my local gym and it's amazingly maintained and great parking! For the most part it's a great place to workout and the front desk is friendly and accommodating once in awhile one is just physically there holding up a desk and could care less! At first I found the personal trainers they have to be a little stand offish however, two or them after awhile are actually amazing, they are positive and treat their group workouts and 1 on 1 sessions with an upbeat attitude! I have been a member of Golds Gym for 4 years. I was very excited for the new location to open, as I assumed it would be a similar set up as the old one. This gym has 0 privacy and the whole layout is horrible. I would Not recommend signing up for this gym, unless you want everyone to watch you while you work out. The pool is not private at all, Golds gym has enough money to put a tint on the window to the pool. Who wants to swim and have everyone stare while they are lifting weights and on the treadmill. The private room is reserved for classes and all of the free weights are locked up, which makes no sense, as classes are schedule only a few hours of the day. I am cancelling my membership. How are you going to close two gyms bigger than this one and force everyone from both of the locations into one small, cramped area? The other gym off 28 had two of the most popular machines with extras in a female only room. You'd think with double the amount of people and a lot of new members they would have even more, but no. There's enough space to add a few more of the most frequently used machines, but again no, they have a personal training area with several huge tables (that take up a good portion of the gym) with already several offices. The staff for the most part is pretty great though, so no complaint on that part. So if you're into lifting and not just cardio, which there isn't enough machines for that too, I absolutely do not recommend this gym. I will be leaving Golds as soon as this TFE opens in South Riding. read more

Sitting and relaxing in the sauna when one of the cleaning crew props open the door to sweep. Then she leaves the door open and begins to wipe down the inside of the door. I ask her if it's possible to close the door because it's letting all of the warm air out and she replies "yeah, but I cleaning it right now." Wouldn't it be possible for them to clean it when it's NOT in use?? I just walked by a shower with a giant hair ball attached to the drain. Tackle that and give me 5 min to basque in the warmth. Really upset with the new location, not as much privacy in each work out area, no more movie room or women's private work out area. They don't offer cycle classes anymore unless you upgrade and pay $99 a month. The lap pool looks nice but it has a big open window that anyone can watch you in the cardio area. All the equipment seems to be on top of each other. Really disappointed and I'll be looking for a new gym. read more

BEWARE of their Billing! Twice I have had a problem where they have overcharged me. I spent weeks trying to clear it up with one of the Sales Mangers who basically ghosted me. Would not respond to emails and was "in meetings" every single time I called. I actually ended up giving up. Had the same problem this fall with them putting unauthorized charges on my card. This time I tried dealing with Greg I., the manager. After politely trying to get a refund with him for the incorrect billing, he has stopped answering my emails and is now "in meetings" every time I call. I have disputed the charge with my Credit Card. I will not be back and would strongly suggest you use caution when allowing them access to your credit card. read more

Ah finally the new facility has opened. I've been eagerly waiting as the original Chantilly was not doing it for me at all! Nothing like a new, clean gym. Best part- all the equipment is new!!! It isn't funky and nasty yet lol. The design is modern. The staff is friendly and some amenities are nice... like the hot tub which I'll never use :) However some of the cons: 1) my biggest complaint - There isn't much privacy in any section of the gym. I hate the layout. (2) the free weight section is not that spacious but there is so much used space elsewhere (3) a huge con for me - They need more variety in the group classes, preferably more interesting and innovative classes. Most classes are pretty boring. Some classes have had the same instructor, meaning the same routine for YEARS. The classes are not challenging. Overall, it's okay. I was expecting better tbh. read more
