However, the facility itself was in dire need of renovation. - pool: covered outdoor pool that works as indoor pool during colder months, but the condensation is much, you can't see anything. (See pic) - it is like a maze: hard to navigate easily and it reminds you of your public school set up - group classes itself were nice, but the AC AND the fans on the ceiling don't work, so imagine how hot it gets.. like 77 on my group class day. It was so uncomfortable. - if you need tennis or other courts: this is your best bet! They have so many tennis and other sport courts. So choose this location if you like tennis, squash etc. not a good fit for those who just wanna workout in group classes or swim in comfort. $90 a month plus $100 or so for initiation fee. 3. Indoor cafe available 4. Parking is a nightmare. Such a small lot for the number of people it serves. Those who live in McLean should just walk there. Don't go to this gym. They lost most of their parking spots and customers routinely cannot enter the gym. The daily ritual is gridlock in the parking lot from parents picking up or dropping off their kids, all fire lanes are blocked, people screaming and honking at each other. If you wait 30 minutes you might get a spot or the guy that just entered the scrum will be the one in the right spot in the line when someone leaves. The gym is fine and most of the trainers are fine - professional and supportive. There is one trainer with the first initial D. that is a creep. He is relatively new, and is a detriment to the club, frankly. My friends and I have been members of this club for years (before Sport and Health!) and notice him leering and strong arming women from their spots with their trainers, even when he is training other women. It seems unprofessional and quite aggressive, though he is quiet about it. Clearly he seems practiced in what he thinks is plausible deniability. I would expect more from the trainers, as I said, most of them are appropriate, professional and fine. As a swimmer, my review is based solely on the pool and the women's locker room. The pool may have been nice 40 years ago but it's showing its age. And that's being nice. Clearly, the pool is not maintained well as the tiles are filthy, it is old and decrepit-looking, and the water is kept warm to accommodate all those private swim lessons. There's no built-in access to the water as they use some awful contraption that they roll across the deck and drop into the pool. Then the cherry on top is the mildew-covered bubble that goes up over the pool after summer season is over. Bottom line, there are better options for serious, or even casual, swimmers. read more

I have been a member of this facility since moving into the area two years ago. I use primary the weight room however took yoga classes for several months. What I like about the facility is it's more like a private club than a "gym". The weight room is well organized, maintained and comfortable. It's rarely crowded so having to wait to use equipment is rare. The personnel are consistently accommodating, helpful and friendly. When a piece of equipment is not working, it is typically repaired within two days. The manager is actively involved in managing the location and can be seen frequently inspecting the facility. Additionally, he is very responsive to member comments and suggestions. read more

Mclean Sport and Health has the best overall indoor tennis in N. Virginia, period ! From condition of courts, availability of courts, hours of operation, Private and group lessons, reasonable court fees, they have the best tennis gig going . When you join they will introduce you to people at your skill level. Aside from tennis, they have a really nice indoor lap pool, a huge fitness area, and many Yoga and Pilates classes. The staff is very nice and professional. They have a cafe onsite in case you get hungry or want and adult beverage after your workout or tennis. Parking is easy and steps from the club. read more

Unfortunately signing up with this company is like being trapped as they require you to sign up with them for a year. After that then you're eligible for month to month membership, which seems like they rather make money than let the customer feel comfortable of canceling or putting pause on their membership whenever they feel like it. It helps me a lot with my chronic pain. I have been eagerly awaiting for it to re-open from being closed for about 14 months. When my work colleague told me the competitor gym re-opened their sauna, I called Sport & Health who said their sauna was still closed. About two weeks later, I'm talking to my hairdresser who also is a member and she told me the sauna had re-opened. Sport & Health told my boyfriend they were trying to keep the sauna re-opening quiet!!! Onelife Fitness McLean is tired and worn out. There seems to be very little capital investment happening there. The locker rooms are broken down, (although kept very clean), and are not enjoyable at all. Yuck! Other facilities at Onelife have much nice locker rooms. Please invest some $$ in your facility! Also, since both my wife and I work, it is really hard to book a tennis court in the evenings during the week. All courts seem to book out immediately for times between 6pm-9pm weekdays. They have have over booked the tennis memberships extensively. We have had good experiences with the workers and with the trainers. The lead trainer, Damien, is very good. read more

The staff from the General Manager, Assistant General Manager, are very helpful, professional, and are always willing to help. The Front Desk Associates personable. I have been a member at this gym for many years. Yes, it is semi over price but comparing to other gyms in the area i perfer to go workout at this one. The gym is very clean. Early in the mornings, one of the cleaning staff are wiping down equipment, vacuming the floor, restocking on the towels (which is very important especially if the gym is packed). I have been to other gyms in the tysons corner area where their are no towels and the gym equipment are exteremly worn out and dirty to even touch. What i especially love about this gym is the classes. I recently been obsessed with the Zumba classes. My favorite instructor is Jean B! He is incredible in motivating and making the class fun! Jenny and Shannon are the best features of this gym! I've been attending various classes here for about 2 years but am going ahead and switching to the newly opened F45 studio in the Boro. If there were more times and classes available here, the choice may have been more difficult. Must unfortunately provide feedback regarding cancellation process which any potential customer should know before committing. After submitting my request to cancel and being advised that it would be no more than 24 hours from a response, I heard back about a week later. They then advised that they would still charge for the current month (despite submitting my request prior to the billing cycle) and then the following month as well. It is truly disappointing that they need to charge two entire months from the point of expressing the desire to cancel and be completely off their books. All in all, it will be over $250 to cancel. Again, good gym otherwise, I was just looking for more value in terms of classes. Good luck to you and hopefully you don't have the same ending experience as me if you choose to part ways! read more

Ok, I was a member at Regency, had a bad experience long ago, and now the club is back on my good side. The locker rooms are huge improvement now that the renovation is complete. The staff is also much much more accomodating then before. Billing Practises. The billing practices around personal trainers has a lot to explained. You agree to a number of trainer sessions per week and its calculated to a monthly fee for 13 sessions (3x week), approximately $1000. If or not you use those 13 sessions that month they charge your credit card for another 13 sessions if you need them or not. No one has the common sense to look at the clients account and deem it necessary or not to charge for another months service when its not needed. Also ZERO refunds. This has nothing to do with providing a service, this is all to do with maximizing billing. ZERO COMMON SENSE. read more

This is a large gym with fairly decent facilities. I'd give the gym floor 3.5 stars, locker room/ showers are kinda gross. Lots of other upsells like tennis/squash courts, pilates studio, group training etc. The restaurant good in a pinch. Member services are awful though, they will lie to you to get you to sign up. If you're interested, I recommend taking a copy of the contract and reading through it before you sign up rather than being pressured by a promotion, which they of course always run. read more

When I started my new job in Tysons, I knew I had to do something to delay my departure from Tysons back to Bethesda in the evening; that meant my commute would be only terrible as opposed to a complete and utter disaster. My go-to gym, Washington Sports Club, had no locations even remotely close to Tysons. The 2 chains that kept popping up w/ locations in both areas were Sport&Health & Equinox; I knew Equinox was gonna be ridiculous, so I went with Sport&Health. This location of Sport&Health is apparently one of their flagship locations and it certainly has all the bells & whistles. Tennis courts, outdoor pools that are covered in the winter, hot tubs, steam rooms, they've got it all. The main workout area is huge, they've got plenty of benches and a wide variety of machines. Sometimes I've had to wait for a bench, but they're generally pretty available. They also have TRX suspension on the main floor; I LOVE TRX so this is a welcome addition. They also have a cafe/juice bar which is great for grabbing a smoothie after a workout. The locker rooms appear to be recently renovated, everything appears to be very clean, and I'm not grossed out by the showers. Overall, a very nice facility. That being said, I feel it's pretty overpriced. I'm paying $90/month for that all access membership plus some kind of maintenance fee. That's with a corporate discount. My sister pays $50/month for a passport membership with WSC; that gets her access to their entire network: Philly Sports Club, NY Sports Club, etc while Sport&Health is only in the DC area. Further aggravating the situation is that Sport&health is not remotely transparent about their pricing and tell you when you ask about prices that what they offer you today may not be available tomorrow: high pressure much? Also, parking is a pain in the ass. This is to be expected at a club in DC, but a club this far out in the suburbs should have ample parking for their members. Nothing worse than a long day at work followed by circling the parking lot waiting for someone to leave so you can get your sweat on. read more

I was absolutely astounded to discover that this club does NOT require members to wear masks. This is true even for aerobic and other group exercise classes held in a below street level studio. As if that's not enough, the Instructor for the Zumba class I attended today actually encouraged the maskless-except-for-me members to shout with her. Unbelievable! The irony of this place calling itself a "health club" is painfully obvious. When I questioned all of the above, I was told that the state of Virginia allows this. Maybe it does, but this is most definitely not a best practice and continuing it could easily cause a lot of hurt to a lot of people. Shame! My partner and I have been going to McLean Sport & Health with my young daughter for over 4 years now and although we have shopped around for another gym, we've never committed anywhere else or left Sport&Health. The number one reason is the pool. My daughter loves to swim and none of the other gyms in the area will allow kids her age to free swim. They also have two other outdoor pools available to members in the warmer months which are convenient and easily accessible. So we have built upon that. We can make any gym work because I have a fitness background and he is just as knowledgeable, but we choose to remain at Sport&Health for a number of reasons. #1: the facility itself trumps the others in the area. We have the all-gym membership so we can workout at any Sport&Health and One Life Fitness, but McLean has the cleanest and most organized floor, well trained staff, Cleanest floor, selection of classes, did I say CLEANEST?!? #2: the layout itself promotes productivity. Which means you don't have to go wandering aimlessly for a machine or setup that is misplaced among random machines, wherever it will fit. When I leave the Worldgate location I can't get out the door without washing my hands another 4 times. The equipment there is generally much dirtier. The Tysons location has an odd setup and requires you to pay for parking. Even if you've been there for an hour or less. The swim and tennis programs along with the kids summer camps are FANTASTIC. The parking is free and plentiful. The front desk staff are kind and courteous and in my humble opinion, the group class instructors are all a lot of fun to work with. They take the time to get to know you and pay attention to your needs and progress while you're in their classes. I'm sure I'm missing a TON of important details and reasons as to why McLean Sport&Health is the best gym in the area, but hopefully my message is clear. All 3 of my children have also utilized different activities there such as stroke school, soccer, private swim, parents night out, and summer camp. The billing here is just awful. Why must joining a gym be like buying a used car? I had to stop using my debit/credit card because they billed the wrong amount. I filed a complaint with my bank and won. Then I put my membership on hold and got a random invoice with a late fee on it. No notice even that the billing had started again or invoice in general to give me a chance to pay it. I like this place, especially after living in DC for 7.5 years and constantly fighting for cardio equipment in every small, cramped gym I ever joined there. (I never joined Balance. Balance is NOT small, cramped and overpriced. Please note that.) Every time I've been here, there have been tons of machines available, and most of them have TVs. I've never even had to fight for a Body Bar or a space in front of the mirror so I can do my strength training. Parking is free, and spaces are always available. The price is also OK -- not great, but OK. It's about what I paid in DC for Washington Sports Club, except I feel like I get more "bang for my buck" here. Maybe my expectations for a gym were lowered by living in DC so long, but I am enjoying the wide open space here. I'm in and I'm out and I don't have to worry about rearranging my schedule according to when the gym is busy. And I don't mind that it's kind of a geriatrics ward -- I am not going to the gym to make friends. I know the 90-year-old guy on the lazy bike isn't trying to score my digits or take me out for a steak dinner. I also don't need to communicate with the staff beyond "H & B." I don't want any training sessions and I don't need them trying to sell me crap -- which so far, no one has tried to do. read more
