Gym is fire, all workers and attendees were nice and excited to help. I recommend any and everybody to sign up for a membership!!!

I have been a member of this Gold's Gym for about 2 years, and overall I like the gym, its facilities, and the atmosphere. However, unfortunately last night I had a very unpleasant experience that left me quite disappointed. After finishing my workout, I discovered that someone had broken the rear window of my car and attempted to steal from it. Fortunately, I did not leave my purse or personal belongings inside the vehicle. What concerns me the most is that the parking lot does not have security cameras. The gym staff was kind, and although they told me there was not much they could do about the situation, they did help me file a police report and clean my car a bit, which I truly appreciate. They also mentioned that this type of incident has already happened at least five times before, both during the day and at night. As customers, we assume that we can work out with peace of mind, believing that our vehicles are safe. I believe the gym should reinforce parking lot security, as situations like this create stress and insecurity and negatively affect the overall experience for members who attend regularly. I hope this review encourages management to take action and improve security for all members. read more

This is a "somewhat" newer Golds. Compared to other large gym chains it is kept up very well and the staff could not be nicer. They have an excellent selection of equipment. The trainers, like all gyms, are spotty. I have had some excellent trainers over the years - Jesslyn, Donnell, Jack, etc. I don't remember the lousy ones b/c I usually fired them pretty quickly. Gold's Gym was an ok gym until we tried to cancel. We first went to the gym to cancel in person in July 2023 and were told we cannot cancel in person, we have to email. So we emailed, 3 times no response. Finally called CC company to report this as fraud. THAT got Golds to contact us with a collection call! We then resent the cancellation emails to the email at Gold's given to us by their collection people. No response but another monthly charge posted. This gym operates solely to collect on memberships and to that end makes it impossible to cancel your membership. Seriously, you can't cancel in person?!? It is now 17 months of charges later and we are still not cancelled. I could not be more unhappy with their deceptive business practices. read more

How many times will you be closed after open hours without made up excuses? This year this gym has been closed after 4 about 6 times and I have photo proof. It's so unprofessional. I'll be looking into cancelling my membership . Customers aren't compensated; we just receive a bunch of different excuses each time. They said it doesn't happen but you can see clearly that I contacted them multiple times about the same issue. Management that is truly concerned would post a contact number if the "freak" occurrence recurred. My time, money, and patience will not continue to be wasted. I need the owner to explain to me why he would take legal action against the governor of Virginia for closing down his gyms at the height of COVID, but cant open the gym on time now. I haven't seen any accountability or attempt to rectify the issue. read more

I absolutely loved the location. I came down to help with my new grandson and was so excited that there was a Golds I could visit during my time in the area. Davis and the ENTIRE TEAM were absolutely amazing! The gym was always clean, organized and orderly! If I ever officially relocate, this will be my gym. The Smoothie bar is delicious and healthy and everyone makes them superbly. I would recommend another Smith Machine tho Overall, everything was excellent read more

Gym is CLEAN yes, as it should be - it's brand new. Smaller than what I am used to and does not have a pool. Staff is overall friendly, however - the manager I would assume, scrawny caucasion male in commercial, is a HUGE DOUCHE. This is literally the first time I've ever left a review about anything but felt compelled to share my unprofessional experience with this gym. This has nothing to do with the facilities. Be warned they do NOT let you cancel your membership even after your contract has expired. For months now I've been calling to get my membership canceled as I did not feel safe using the gym during COVID. After speaking with someone once a month about it since September and being assured that my membership will be canceled they are still charging me. There is no corporate customer service to elevate this to and no one to speak to other than the untrained people who run the membership department at this gym. It's a total scam and hope no one else has to go through this frustration and headache. Be aware that if you sign up you are literally never getting out of your contract. read more

Been a member for a couple years and sadly the quality has declined steadily the entire time. Management not very responsive when you bring concerns to them about broken equipment or anything else really. They also seem to always have staffing issues. And as of late, the gym has been closed several times when I've arrived at 4 am. If I'm getting up that early in the morning to drive all the way to a gym, imagine my frustration when I arrive and the building is dark and locked. I'm sitting in the car now as a matter of fact, 20 minutes past opening time and several other members have come and driven away after waiting to see if anyone would come open up. Do NOT trust this Golds Gym!! My membership included nothing they said it would and now they will not let me out of my contract. I have been waiting patiently the entire two years of my contract to cancel, and even though I went in and canceled a month before my membership was up. They are still charging my card $175. I've been in several times and the general manager is never there. I have sent several emails and not one response. They do nothing they say they will. I'm not sure how to make this stop, or get my money back! If it was the other way around and I owed them $175. You know they would have several fees added, and then send me to collections. PREY on 18 year olds who are just learning to be financially responsible! Warn your kids not to fall for their bs. I don't know how these people can sleep at night. They've been doing this for a long time. They will offer a "free" visit, then bring the naive kids into the office and strong arm them into a contract that they can "cancel". It's close to a new gym, it's very clean, has good hours and it's spaced out nice, has all the equipment you need, Nice staff and priced good! What else do you seriously want? To the never ending morons with contract disputes, when I was under contract I did this CRAZY thing! I READ it before I signed it. I didn't SIGN something, and then claim "They told me I didn't have a contract". Did you READ what you were signing? Congratulations you're an idiot. GM is unreachable on the phone and also refused to return phone calls when I left my contact info at the front desk. Also last Christmas Eve they lied to members and close at 2 pm when they should have been open till 4 pm that day! I called the day after Christmas and the GM refused to take my call and instead the front desk put me on the phone with an assistant manager which lied about this detail up until the time I said I have a video that they close and went home instead of being open like they should have been. I then Complained to the corporate office in Texas regarding this issue and they do nothing other than forwarding this issue to the local owner and GM of that site! read more

I'm a first timer at this gym and I'm very impressed! The equipment is updated, the weight area is spacious and accessible. There's a private "lady's gold" area in the back that I love. I love Golds gym but this location on Gaytons Rd is like none other. trust me! I have been to 5 different ones all this year because I wanted to find a sauna that was hot and functioning during these hard times of 2020 and this place did it for me!! This gym is amazing! I no longer live in the area but was able to purchase a 7-day pass while I was home for the holidays and it was exactly what I needed (only $30 too!). The space is huge (used to be a grocery store) and has more equipment than you could ever need. I mainly lift and cycle. The spin bikes aren't great but there were plenty of dumbbells, squat racks, benches, etc. there are also two turf areas with sleds and such. The staff is super friendly and I'll definitely be doing this again next time I'm in town! read more

Like so many others I have had the exact same experience with Golds Gym. I , too, have never written a review in my life, but feel compelled to warn people about this gym. I have been trying to cancel my membership for months now and continue to get the runaround from management. I have called, emailed, been to the gym in person and am always told someone will "get back to me" and NO ONE EVER DOES. It is unbelievable and beyond frustrating. I have sent in proof of a move and am willing to pay the $50 cancel fee, but the gym continues to try and get one more month of payment by ignoring me, I am convinced. Just terrible customer service and poor business in general. Definitely do not recommend. read more

IT IS A TRAP... do not believe a word they promise you about payments or cancellation or transfer. They will continue to charge you even if you "cancel or transfer" i was moving so I took time off work got all the paper work and drove back and fourth, spent the whole day getting the run around trying to cancel. When I check my statements they have continued to charge me and they lost the paper work. I was basically told to ride out my contract or they will add a bunch of fees. All and all horrible costumer service, sleezy business and a great deal of stress. read more

Worked out here as a guest today and I'm really sad I moving so I can't become a full member. All of the equipment was in great condition and very clean. The staff was very nice and not pushy at all. I joined Golds on a 2 year contract. I have 8 months left. They reopened and are not requiring masks. I've watched people coming and going with no masks and have asked several members and they say it's not being enforced. I asked Christian the manager to let me out of my contract. He refused because there wasn't a just reason for it.... I live and take care of my elderly parents (in their 80s) during a pandemic. He said he could put my account on hold for 6 months. But as soon as the pandemic is over I plan on moving. I was also charged 20 dollars for an account hold. I was never reimbursed for that and Christian won't return my calls. I decided to just buy out my last 8 months and he said that I can still come in since I'm paid through May... Not a lot of humanity for a company that is dedicated to helping people with their health. read more

A couple of months ago (on a Wednesday) I was going to Kroger when a couple of gentlemen from this Gold's Gym beckoned me to their table. I went over, to see what they had to say. I told them I already have a gym through my apartment complex, but eventually told them that I would try it out since they were doing a $2.00 for the first month promotion. The GM, Christian led me inside where a salesman got me signed up. I was told that the money would come out of my account the next week, which I thought was odd, but didn't question. A week later, (Wednesday again) $37.99 came out of my bank account. I called the store, told them the situation, at which point they transferred me to the GM, Christian. I told him what happened and he said there must have been some confusion between what he had told me and what the salesperson had signed me up for. He said that he would submit the paperwork to put the $35.99 back into my account. He said it might take a couple of days. The following Monday, I hadn't heard anything, nor was the money back in my account, so I drove up to talk to them in person and to go ahead and cancel my membership before anything else happened. The GM was on the phone when I got there, so I went straight to the man who had signed me up, talked about the situation and told him I wanted to terminate my membership. He was nice and understanding and asked, multiple times, for Christian to sign off on the refund and he was never acknowledged. I signed the termination documents and left under the impression that I would be refunded. Another 10 days go by and the money is still not in my account, so I filed a dispute with my bank. My bank investigated and, two weeks later, I finally got my money back. The entire time I was being sold by the manager, he said that he just wanted me to have a pleasant experience and to have only good things to say about the place, but dealing with this gym was a huge pain. Had I not filed a dispute with my bank, I know they never would have issued a refund, despite having discussed it twice. read more

Charged for the month of May and June during Covid 19 and totally expect to be charged again for July and subsequent months. I sent an email to Christian asking to break my contract due to unemployment and constant exposure to Covid 19 (daughter works at VCU Emergency Room downtown) but nope, no response. He went out of his way to help me with a tricky membership situation (I live out of the country but wanted to be able to work out while I'm here visiting family) and did it all with a smile! I belonged to another Gold's in the area years ago and had a terrible experience, so I was hesitant at first to join this one. It is so close to my apartment though, so I went in to check it out. They went above and beyond when I joined with a great deal and the employees are all awesome with helping the gym goers with anything they need. I work with one of the trainers, which has been nice in feeling more comfortable in the gym. I'm actually really excited to get to the gym every day. read more

It's so unfortunate to have to write this type of review. Gayton is a GREAT gym if you plan to stay forever. We moved and were bummed we had to cancel our membership to this gym, but sadness quickly changed to frustration when it came to dealing with the management. When it comes to signing up, it's awesome and easy. When it was time to cancel for any reason, (but such a reason as leaving the state? C'mon) the management and staff ghost you and go silent for months. We emailed various emails to Christian and Davis-- nothing. We made multiple calls and had gone into the facility during management hours and no one was ever available. Had to take multiple attempts of all of the above to FINALLY cancel. And after canceling, we are still being charged monthly and have made multiple attempts to be credited back due to the incorrect transactions. There is no communication on updates or proof of the process moving forward; you must hunt them down. We are still waiting for the reimbursements. We've been going for years and it's so disappointing that it had to end in this manner. So, in conclusion, great facility to work out at, equipment, etc. Not so great customer service and when it comes to your membership. read more
