I am having serious issues with Gold's Gym. This Ormond Beach location is owned by the same owners as the Daytona Beach location. There is a serious mold issue in the men's locker room sauna area. I have now left multiple messages with Tyler who Is an owner and has his office in the Ormond Beach location. He sold me my membership and assured me they had the cleanest gym in the area. Attached are pics of a serious mold and nasty goo issue that the gym has been told about many times. There is no way that just mopping this will fix anything. They need to close that sauna, seal it off, and get a mold remediation company involved. I want to know what kind of mold is growing all over that sauna. read more

7/7/2018 - Visiting for 2 days ($10 a day pass) First impression, nice and friendly staff. We were in Daytona for the weekend and visited this gym. We came in for two days and they charge $10 per day. The equipment is a bit outdated but it all works. It is on the smaller side compared to other gyms...or so I thought. The thing is that is broken in four to five sections. The workout/aerobics room, stretch area, group class room, the trainer room and then the actual open gym. It seems to have a lot of members as it was pretty busy on both occasions. However, it is so hot in there, just stale air, hot and humid. They really need a better A/C unit. Highlight was that they sell protein drinks, bcaa's, pre workout, bars, and smoothies. We actually needed pre-workout on one day since we forgot ours in the room so it was very convenient. We were in town for a week and decided to give this place a try after speaking to one of the staff members on the phone. First, let me say how impressed I was with their attentiveness to COVID changes in the industry. The place is well maintained and everyone is respectful of each other's space. The equipment was 6 feet apart in most areas and the members were well conditioned to wiped down all the machines when they were done using them. The classes seemed pretty full but with plenty of room. There were a few folks who chose to use masks but for the most part, the rest of the gym stayed "Socially Distant". The locker rooms were well maintained and very clean. The equipment is a little dated and there is a short of plates for the free weight machines, but other than that, this place is solid. As for a gym, Golds gym Ormond beach has the BARE minimum. This Gym is very out dated, SMALL, and has limited equipment. The free weight section has room for only two or three people to workout at a time. The cardio machines (when they work) are few and far between if not constantly in use, As well as most of the machines that they have here either don't work appropriately or are being used by other gym goers. This gym is VERY SMALL and if it's a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, do not expect to get your workout completed due to constantly fighting for weights or machines. They really need to update this gym and create more room! ALSO! To add to paying almost $50 a month for a very low quality gym, the operating hours here close at 9PM! Compared to several other gyms in the area that are 24/7 or open till at least 10! With having to come at odd hours to get a DECENT workout in, I find the operation hours to be a horrible compromise for the lack of gym you get for the price. * Also there are no guest passes or getting your guest in unless you pay $15 on top of the $50 you already pay at the min membership! How does that make any sense?! This is not the Golds gym that I would picture when it comes to a gym that is so world famous. I personally would love to see this review be deleted, but after paying for this gym for almost a year now, I can not hold in my opinion anymore. Please do not become a member at Golds Gym ormond unless they update prices and the facility. I would like to see this change but for now this review is a representation of my opinion as a life long gym goer who has been here for the past several months. Lauren was very sweet in showing me around the gym. I picked this gym for the one week pass to come and try out the gym. She convinced me to take my first spin class which I did enjoy. The gym is a decent sized spacious but small gym. I left one star out for the size of the gym and lack of machines. I love that this gym has the smoothie/protein bar. Oversold memberships, crowded, can't get to equipment, people leaving things on equipment while chatting with others, poor use of space, women's restroom lock has been broken for at least two months. They emailed me for feedback a couple months back and I mentioned the lock issue then and with it still being broken it tells me they don't listen or want the feedback. Crunch is less $$ for two people than one person here, better equipped and more motivating than this gym. And that's with the ability to use any gym in the country not just two in a city. I have never been able to get a good workout in here and I was hoping with all their social media announcements of new equipment it would be better today but it is still the same overcrowded, dated equipment, social over fitness environment as always. read more

This gym is abysmal. Firstly, the staff are very rude. Did not even bother to give me a tour or say "welcome" when I joined as a new member. In terms of equipment, they have less than the bare minimum. Most equipment is outdated and rusted over. Cannot use the glute machine without it squeaking loudly. Additionally, there are only a few benches near the free weights which are all usually taken. The dumbbell rack is coated with dust as well. Would not recommend going here. read more

This place is a dump. Over priced, over crowded, no parking, instead of 40 bucks a month go to planet fitness or crunch. A lot more for your money. The salesmen walk around like drug lords. They don't even have water bottle filler stations . It's the year 2023 and I have to use a water fountain ? the cable machine adjustable handles are broke. You need Vice grips to adjust them. I have been working out at this Gold's gym for 16 years. Its old location in the Trails was cramped. The move to the new location opened it up more. The staff and patrons make it feel like home. Coffee with the crew in the morning is always looked forward to. The trainers are great and well worth the extra expense. I wish I could get there more often. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is that I have been to some very large GOLD's all around the world and some are massive with more amenities than you can think of. This is a very comfortable place to work out. The best in the area. read more

Just moved into the area and have been gym shopping and hopping! My daughter and I took our first RIP class with Debra and really enjoyed it! What a workout! I used muscles that I forgot I had! We attended Suzy's dance party class last night and I can honestly say it was one of the most fun classes ever! Great workout! It didn't seem like an hour, it went by so fast, Awesome time! The gym is so clean and the staff so friendly, even the owners smiled and said hello and broke off their conversation to acknowledge me!!! Ashley signed me up and was the sweetest girl and made me feel so welcome. The classes are so varied and I can't wait to try them! Bathrooms are so clean and overall the facilities are wonderful. I like the type classes they offer and my insurance now covers my membership so I rejoined. I am typically a fairly heavy weight trainer but like to mix up my dance background with these fun classes. The first day or two they didn't seem to quite know what room was holding what class and a bit scattered at the front desk but everything was fine after that. Staff was very friendly but the gym is just old. I think going to the new one nearby for about eight months, and was pretty excited to try this one. I don't think I would go out of my way to come back here, although that does not have any reflection on the staff. When I walked in, I was greeted right away, and I felt very comfortable. Overall, they have some very neat equipment, he said that the new Gym does not have. However, it's just old. In all honesty, it would really just take a fresh coat of paint and a few minor enhancements, and the gym would feel significantly cleaner and newer. read more

I have been a member of many gyms in different ares of the country. This is by far the worst I have have ever seen. Pros. the only choice in the area Cons No parking maybe not the fault of the gym but a problem for users. No lockers at least in the mens locker room (they rent them so if you want one you pay extra. One working shower (owner keeps trying to fix but has not called a plumber). All showers have a build up of scum on the floors. Gold's Gym is definitely the best gym in Ormond Beach. They have a mixture of new and old equipment. They have some of the new a lifestyle equipment then some very cool Hammer Strength equipment. They also have some old equipment that is a bit outdated however some unique pieces. I spend most my time in the free weight area and unfortunately this area is a bit small. The only reason I did not give this gym 5 stars is because of the size of the free weight area. I find myself sometimes midset having to move to make room for somebody else. They do however have all the equipment I need to get a full workout in. I don't take classes however I notice they always have classes going on in there are three separate areas for them to host classes. I would assume it is a good place to go if you are the kind of person who enjoys taking classes. The cardio area is large. There is a lot of different cardio equipment to choose from and they are stacked multi level so that everyone can see the TVs. My only complaint would be I would like to see more TVs. Overall I would definitely say this is the best gym Ormond beach. Best atmosphere in most equipment to choose from. They are in the middle of doing and expansion also so maybe a bigger free weight area soon. read more

Beautiful Gym, TERRIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES. If you are looking for a gym just to go and work out, fine, great, do it. Nice gym, great equipment, large facility, clean etc.... But if you are looking to get personal training- DON'T DO IT. They have several salesmen who seem to have gotten their experience in Used Car Lots since the way they "sell" packages is nothing short of shady and dishonest. Let me explain: The whole reason I ended up at Gold's Ormond in the first place was by following a trainer there who was switching from one location to this Gold's. I really liked this trainer and decided it was worth it for me to follow him there. Well, after 1 month this trainer left due to insufficient hours/pay etc. that Gold's promised him but did not follow through on. (this is a theme with them) So there I was, new member at Gold's that I just paid $100+ to join and now no trainer. What's the big deal right? There were TONS of trainers walking around this gym (literally more trainers than clients it seems, walking around just looking for something to do) So this should be easy right? Just get another trainer. So I approached the sales team with my inquiry to get another trainer ASAP since mine just jumped ship. Well.....with not a single question as to how I like to train, what my style is, do I have any injuries, do I prefer a man or a woman trainer? Tommy Ferretti (the fast talking, with all intentions to obfuscate the contracts) took it upon himself to sign me up with their newest trainer who happened to be a Cross Fit trainer. Let me just note: I HATE CROSSFIT. I would have never picked this style of training, but the clear and more important picture here is that these people don't care about what you like to do, they only care about how much money you are going to be paying per month. I get it, it's a business, but there are certain ways to go about doing business (as a former business owner myself) and their style of deceit and distract is unethical to say the least) Which brings me to my worst experience in a gym yet. In all my years working with personal trainers in many different gyms over the last 10 years I have never known a practice where you pay $300 a month for a month. This confused me, and I asked him how will that work, when all I really wanted was to buy 10 or 12 sessions for a flat rate and that's that. When the sessions are done, you buy more or you don't. Easy right? Tommy said, "Yeah yeah, it's sort of the same thing, we just do it this way....... blah blah...." I specifically asked that my credit card would NOT be charged monthly since I wasn't sure if I wanted to continue with the training after this first round of sessions anyway. "Oh yeah, sure absolutely not, we would not auto charge...blah blah...." Well guess what. He is a straight up liar and I was charged $300 the very next month after I completed my initial training sessions and by the way- the trainer that I was put with ~~ HE QUIT TOO! This gym does nothing but hire tons of trainers, they don't have enough clients to satisfy these trainers and I have never seen so many trainers come and go in 1 month time as I have here. So if you are a trainer looking to work at Gold's Ormond? DON'T! You will waste your time and make no money there. 2 trainers told me the same story so this is not just speculation. If you are a client looking for a trainer, DON'T do it at Gold's Ormond, you will be charged out the wazzzooo. I am currently in dispute with them through my credit card because they wouldn't even take the charge off (even though the billing dept "promised" they would do it immediately) when I called (5 times) to complain about being charged for sessions I never even used!! BUT they certainly wasted no time in charging me another $75 cancellation fee that very same day when they agreed to cancel my membership. So overall they took out on my credit card over $800 for 1 month of being a member. Biggest scam going. Worst experience in a gym ever. read more

Shout out to Ryan Kremer for making it happen. I'm officially one of Gold's newest members. I highly recommend talking to him for their membership plans. Their facility is fully equipped with a well array of cardio&weight training machines as well as free weights for a full run workout. Work out rooms, locker rooms, saunas, a tanning room, a smoothie center, and a day care are available to members too! If you get bored, there are plenty of classes members can choose and participate to mix things up. Their facility has a clean, organized environment and to top it off they have great choice in music. I've been enjoying my time spent there so far! Unsure of how Gold's Gym runs and new to the area? Ask for a trial and they're more than happy to give you a tour. Cheers! read more

My wife and I have been working out at Gold's Gym for about 6 months now. I personally have previously worked out at a number of different gyms in the area and I can say that I have found my 'home' gym. From the staff to the trainers, they make all make it feel very welcoming and go the extra mile to assist you. My wife is comfortable there and that is very important as at other gyms, she was uncomfortable due to the looks...etc. She has not experienced any of this here and it allows her to workout with worrying about being gawked at. The other members of the gym are all wonderful and very polite and it can be seen from the moment that you walk in. Finally, we have a 3 year old and with the kid care that they provide at no additional charge it out of this world. The young ladies who work in that area are wonderful and really do a fantastic job with all of the kids. We are able to workout and not worry about our child as we know that he is in good hands. This gym has been present in the community for a very long time. I go here only because they have one of the best yoga instructors in the area, Judy. If i was reviewing her she would have five stars! There are two rooms where yoga classes are held that are in need of updating. Today we couldn't turn the air conditioner on because Judy said it's so loud we would not be able to hear her directions. During one of the classes, an employee came in to go into a back office for something. Judy had to stop and ask him if she could help him with something and he replied no. A very disrespectful move especially during a yoga class, not even an apology. The location is centralized, parking is extremely poor design. Many car break-ins occur, in fact it happened just this past Tuesday when I was there. Also, the staff has little interest in what you have to say, I have mentioned that trucks are parked illegally in the fire lane despite visible signs stating no parking with a tow away zone sign posted as well. I was flippantly told "I will tell my manager" when I brought it up in the past. I nearly ran into another car when I was looking for parking because the trucks blind your view. Great location for a traveling weightlifter. Lots of free weights and barbells. Nice locker room and reasonable rates for a one-week guest pass. I'd only suggest they install a real Squat Power Rack rather than the Squat stand they have now. At 5'4, it was clunky to not be able to adjust the heights. read more

FIrst let me say the gym is clean and has good equipment and the young women at the "reception" area are always friendly and helpful. That said, I have serious issue with there not being a trainer of some sort that goes around paying attention to the clients, how they're using the machines, etc etc. Certainly you can ask for help, but first there has to be someone around who seems user friendly. It was clear to me once I refused the high pressure sales job of paying for a private trainer I became a non-entity. The man who sold me on a yr membership has never in 6 mos smiled or said hello or asked how I was doing but he was extremely attentive up until I signed the contract. Rather insulting. I have seen others who clearly needed some help with machines etc and it was other clients who came to their aid. I go because it's close and has decent facilities. read more

I agree with another review. I had an expectation that I would get a work out program during my three personal trainer appointments that were included in membership. Instead I found the sessions to be vague and random and nothing that I could follow and do on my own. He made it impossible to grasp what I could do without a personal trainer and ongoing expense. Horrible and expensive experience! The "membership manager" euphemism for sleazy salesman kept me in an office, door closed for 1 hr, 15 minutes. By then I wasn't sure what I was getting. Trainer was good however, she never gave me what I asked for. I wanted an itemized routine that I could do on my own. Instead we worked on different exercises and machines an hour a week. I have nothing to show for it. Worst of all, the owner, John does NOT care about members especially new ones. I tried to talk to him about my disappointment, left 3 very polite messages, he chose not to call me back. $1200. for 6 months of coaching and I'm left with a bitter feeling nobody at that gym cares, In all honesty, the front desk was pleasant and equipment was clean. I've worked in the fitness industry now for close to 16 years, and I moved to Daytona Beach because a certain gym I will now call ghetto fitness offered me the stars and moon. I come to find out that this club could never hold down a steady staff and the turn over rate was over the top. As a training director that I was, I spent more time saving personal training contracts, apologizing for overcharges and baby sitting personal trainers that had no business being in our line of business. After experiencing the professionalism of Gold's Gym in Ormond Beach, I must say that I've yet to see a more energetic and friendlier staff with consistency in all that they do. The customer service provided at Gold's goes beyond what I've seen in the corporate health club models, but then again it is family owned and operated, the owner is always around and interacting with the customers, not just a narcissistic, arrogant gym owner who parties his profits, makes his occasional appearance than finds excuses not to pay his staff! I would not recommenf this business. I signed up for personal training for 12-months. A few months into the contract, I attempted to inform the person in charge of billing several times that I accepted a work assignment out of town, and that I would be moving out of state. After several e-mails and phone messages, I was able to speak with the appropriate person to cancel the contract. Billing stopped for 3 months, and then mysteriously started again. Several attempts to inquire about the reactivated charges by phone and e-mail finally resulted in a terse e-mail, indicating that I hadn't cancelled the memership previously, and that I would need to pay over $500.00, including a month's gym membership, a month's personal training charge, and a cancellation fee. While I do understand the cancellation fee, I objected to the other charges that had stopped when I informed the gym of my intent to cancel a few months earlier. The ethics of this business are questionable, to say the least. Do not give them your credit card number! read more
