There are lots of different types of sporting goods outlets; this is the kind that feels primarily interested in the most "visible" type of sporting activity. Things like football and baseball and hockey. In other words, things that popular kids do in high school, and which require gear and/or activity-specific apparel. I bought a softball mitt here once, but when I want to peruse camping gear, this isn't the first place I'll think of. They have some, but supplies for solo outdoor activities are not their strongest feature. They have a LOT of clothes here; not just stuff you'd wear while participating in sports, but things that look cool on people who are hanging out at vaguely sportsy-type events. I'd maybe come here if someone invited me to a party at Justin Morneau's house and I wanted to look like I fit in. No one will ever invite me to a party at Justin Morneau's house. But this place has a batting cage, so who really needs that guy anyway.

Unfortunately, the manager became involved in the situation but did not handle my concerns appropriately. No customer should be spoken to with disrespect, inappropriate language, or treated in an unprofessional manner. I believe both the employees and the manager involved should be held accountable, and I respectfully request that corporate management conduct a thorough review of this incident. My son found a style of shoe he wanted to try on and let a clerk know hIs size. The clerk then brought back 1 shoe. I said to the clerk, wait a minute he needs to try on both shoes and walk around in them. The clerk gruffly told be that it is store policy that they only allow customers to try on one shoe. My husband asked since when? We had been in at Christmas and my son had tried on a different pair when it was more obvious he was with us. The clerk claimed it has always been their policy. This is not okay, we told the clerk that walked out and purchased the exact same shoes at Footlocker where there was no issue with allowing someone to try on a PAIR of shoes. We've spent tons of money over the years at Champs and I will never darken their door again. Racist fools!

She's the store that Lulu wishes it could be if it actually had some, I don't know? Customer service skills and class? This Lucy store is very well organized. I've never seen the clothes out of order or in disarray when I have visited. Also, the sales rack is always in great shape too. The ladies who work here are very nice and courteous. They ask if they can help you, but aren't all up in your face trying to sell you leggings or watching you as if you are going to steal their merch. The ladies are all ages too- young and old. I, personally, like the diversity in age. I've bought a few things in this store like a pair of leggings and a headband. It isn't as well stocked as its Edina counterpart and isn't as big, but it is still very nice place to shop for Lucy.

I brought my daughter here for a little shopping trip, we looked at clothing then moved on to…read morebikes. Her birthday was coming up and I wanted to get her a strider bike. I had her stand on one to check out some measurements. The bikes weren't put away, they were just stacked by boxes in the corner. My daughter stood on one for a minute--I was standing right by her and giving her my undivided attention. At this moment, an employee (older man, white hair) walked by us and rudely said "no riding in the store." And kept walking. Not "can I help fit you for a bike?" Or "can I help you find the right kind of bike?" Not even a "please". I don't expect everyone to adore my kids, but I do expect people to be respectful to them and them to be respectful to others. REI will never get a single dime from me again. This is the second time I've had an unsavory experience with the same employee. I don't understand how it can be difficult to treat people nicely, I can find much better customer service and better prices at Target.
