Probably the rudest staff I've ever been around. I guess I didn't look like a serious customer when I went in there to get my younger brother some golf clubs. When I asked the salesman for help, he responded with a long sigh of frustration. He was rude to my younger brother as well when he asked questions about the club. Normally, if a salesman helps us out I usually purchase something in return for the help since I'm sure they're paid on commission. Not this time! I don't recommend anyone going there. read more

I'm getting back into golf after a several year hiatus. My new (to me) irons needed re-gripped and extended, and I needed everything else equipment-wise. Golf Galaxy in GR was the closest option for me, and having worked for a (superstore) competitor for a couple of years, I have enough product knowledge to get what I need without much help. So, despite some of the negative reviews on here, I decided to give it a go, and I am glad I did. To summarize: My club repair was done quickly and properly. A pro took the time to help me compare several putters, including a couple of Scotty Camerons (one of which I ended up buying), and even helped knock the dust off of my game a few putting tips! (Lord knows we golfers can scarcely receive too many of those.) I was also, as another reviewer lamented, asked if I intended on taking one home that day. This however didn't surprise me. These are $400+ putters, guys, and Titleist doesn't offer a lot of wiggle room. Every retailer has them on lock down. However, there was no pressure to buy one. Their apparel and equipment selections are rock solid, despite having a few things out of stock (I assume because of current supply chain issues), and the apparel staff was helpful and knowledgeable. Overall everyone was polite, humorous and helpful, and I left with what I needed. If you're in the area and want or need something, go get it. I hope this review has been helpful. read more

The selection is good here, but the service is very poor. I came in two separate times and I had to go get an employee as I couldn't find what I was looking for. They did have it. My next visit I got hassled for using a a golf galaxy coupon because with said "exclusions" it meant my golf balls wouldn't count, mind you they were the budget Callaway balls. Very irritating and poor service. Good selection of grips and selection overall though. read more

Based on past reviews, this Golf Galaxy has come a long way. I'm September, as a relatively new golfer, I went in to get fitted for a set of irons. When I went, I was striking the ball horribly and my fitter practically gave me a lesson so that he could ensure I got fit properly and to a set of clubs that would best help me. Fast forward to this year, I was invited to a TaylorMade Fitting event, and had an absolute blast. The fitter that helped me out was named Ben. I recommend that anyone going into the Golf Galaxy store to get fitted or have any questions regarding clubs to talk to him. He is incredibly nice and knowledgeable. The reason I'm only giving 4 stars however, is because the cost and quality of their lessons you can purchase. I had a lesson with the head pro there and if I didn't take his word for a grain of salt I would have ruined my swing. Lots of odd-ball drills, and nothing that related to golf. Partnered with some interesting remarks. Overall, would recommend this place to a friend or anyone looking at some new clubs. read more

I was really worried when I saw the reviews especially knowing that we were looking for women's clubs but I was pleasantly surprised. We had made the hour drive from Kalamazoo on the suggestion from a sales guy at Dick's. The first guy who tried to help us wasn't extremely helpful but he was nice. We picked up a set of women's clubs and were on our way out when we were approached by the manager and he turned our experience all the way around. He had my daughter test a couple of clubs and quickly realized that we actually needed a set of men's clubs. He took quite a bit of time assessing her swing and trying out multiple clubs until we found what we needed. We appreciated his expertise and attention. read more

I bought a Callaway driver last year at Thanksgiving. It was supposed to come with 1 of 5 custom shafts. This was an out of town Black Friday purchase. They got a very young sales rep to do my 'fitting.' I basically hit 10 bales with the stock shaft and he said the numbers looked great. Fast forward to the range near my home on a sunny weekend two weeks later. This driver was launching like a 9 iron. I got out the wrench and knocked the loft down but it is merely acceptable. Several fitters confirmed I was 'fitted' a high launch shaft when I in fact needed a low launch shaft! I went to Golf Galaxy near my house and their reaction was - not my store not my problem. I will never buy clubs there again. Go to a real fitter if you're serious about your game. read more

I get it that women golfers aren't dominating the golf market or the sport, but we are apart of it, dang it! And younger female golfers are a part of it too! Golf Galaxy could it kill it if they offered golf attire, shoes, accessories marketed towards females, younger players, and/or newbie golfers in their stores. I can't tell you how many conversations I've had with female golfers under 30 - heck under 40 - who are looking for stylish, comfortable golf clothes, shoes, and accessories, that won't make us look like we're on Golden Girls! I've been to this Golf Galaxy several times - always hoping for the best- and walking out with maybe some golf balls. There just isn't the selection here for women that I want. On my most recent trip, I went in looking for golf sandals and after an annoyed and perplexed look from the staff member when I asked about the selection, I left with the best pair of shoes I could find that I thought I would have to make do with. I actually found a cuter, more stylish (and much cheaper) pair of Nike casual golf shoes online and I'm returning the shoes that I bought. Id rather buy from a local place than from online store, so I'm going to keep looking around for a golf store with a selection for women. read more

I brought my 15 yr old son in to get a new putter and I had decided to treat him to a Scotty Cameron. Arrived at the putter section and the salesperson asked if we needed help. I asked him to unlock the Scotty Cameron cabinet so that my son could demo a few of them. He looked at me and asked, "Are you going to buy one today". I gave him a look that basically said, "Did you seriously just ask me that?" He responded that if we were just going to play around with them, he would not open the cabinet but if we were buying today he would open it. My son spent 20 minutes trying them out until he found one he liked and then we promptly went to another golf store and bought it. I am adamant about buying things at the store where I take a salespersons time but this guy was so insulting, it was all I could do not to tell him he needs to be in the stock room where he has no customer interaction. I am giving Golf Galaxy 2 stars because last year I had my son fitted for a set of Titleist AP2's and the staff could not have been more accommodating and helpful. I ended up buying a Taylormade M1 driver for myself at the other golf shop too....not sure if it was because I needed it or just to rub more salt into that salespersons(I use the term loosely) wound. read more

I had a terrible experience. I came in for "buy one get one 50% off apparel" but left with nothing. I grabbed two hats that both were sitting directly under signs that stated the deal and went to the register. I was told they were not on sale. I went back to confirm they came from right under the sign and indeed they were. I found a sales associate and asked for his help. He said he wasn't really sure what the deal was and I would have to find a manager - on my own. I looked around the store for 10 minutes asking everyone where I could find a manager and ultimately left because there didn't seem to be a manager in the entire store. You lost my business and I went down the road to another store instead. I regret being an advantage club member. read more

Regardless of their return policy, do not expect to ever feel welcome to return something. Last night I went in to return a set of clubs that had been purchased as a gift but weren't what the recipient was hoping for. I understand that it was an expensive refund, however, it completely followed the store's return policy. I was scolded, by Brian the manager, for returning such a large purchase, and was interrogated for my return reason. It was not one simple question of "why is this item being returned," but instead was a constant string of angry questions as each item was being scanned. I was treated like a child. I do not recommend this store to anyone, as the atmosphere and the attitude of the employees, especially that of the manager, is very hostile. read more
