I purchased a Callaway AI Smoke Max driver and I did not like it, so I returned it three times. They then refunded $481.49 to me, which was the trade-in price. The driver was in resalable condition and undamaged. Another cashier had told me that I could return it anytime within 60 days if I didn't like it. Unfortunately, the store did not have the right fitter, so I was unable to find the correct golf driver for me. I don't understand why I was only refunded the trade-in price. I purchased the driver from the Des Moines, Iowa Golf Galaxy store, and the manager, Collin, handled my return. No one explained the return policy to me in detail. If the cashier or a salesperson had provided me with more information, I could have made a more informed decision. I believe that I should be refunded the full amount of $631.50. I was very disappointed with my experience and ended up going to Dick's Sporting Goods to use the gift card I received. their manners to coustomer is not kind and they act like big king here. read more

This place is just another example of a big box store having terrible customer service. It's not the high school/college kids at the register, those guys are fine. It's the guys at the club repair service that act like you are a huge inconvenience for anything you ask for. I don't particularly appreciate an eye roll when I ask to have two grips installed, especially when it might take the guy less than 5 minutes to do. Furthermore, they try to get out of doing services you ask for so they don't have to do work. I worked a few years as a golf professional and what they recommend makes me scratch my head. They are lazy and don't make you feel welcome in the store. If you have the option, go support your local business/club professional. read more

Older guy working at the club service is an @$$. Club head flew off my brand new Taylor Made and chipped it. He said it's not their fault there's a chip on it. When I confronted him about having the club for less than a month he agreed to send it in to Taylor Made and said he wasn't surprised the head flew off. I asked why they would sell a club to me with known issues and he shrugged it off. Very confrontational. Shop elsewhere if you can. read more

I honestly expected more out of this place, extremely disappointed. I had $250 in a gift card and thought Father's Day would be the perfect time to take my son to buy his first set of Golf Clubs. I was bitterly disappointed. We walked around in the store for 30-40 minutes and were never greeted and never offered help, it's like we were invisible. My son is left handed and we searched the entire store for new or used clubs and there wasn't a single set of Junior left clubs. Later, I thought maybe I'd buy a putter with the gift card. We shopped at golf galaxy in West DesMoines despite seeing several negative reviews online. I have to say we were pleasantly surprised at the level of service! The time the salesman took with us and the quality of the products that were sold were excellent!! My husband ended up buying the new Taylormade Spider Tour putter and some additional supplies. I got an new driver and Scotty Cameron putter in the Bloomington location and had great service every time. I moved to Des Moines area a month ago and stopped into the store. Two employees at the cash register. One staring outside and the other folding clothes. I wanted to buy some golf shoes and walked in. Not acknowledged. Then was in the shoe area with three other customers who never were helped. I tried on the floor model high end Footjoy. Twenty minutes later....still the same two employees doing the same thing. I walked out and not a word was said. Pathetic! I guess amazon wins again. The worst part- called my son in law and he said - "if I would have know you were going there I would have told you to go down the street...they are well known for horrible service." read more

I have been going there for the last year, gone over previous unfavourable reviews and I suspect they have made significant changes in customer service. I have been in the store at least 10 to 15 times and found their technicians and salesman knowledgeable and attentive. I would not hesitate to recommend this store to my friends. read more

Both took the time to walk me through the process of what felt right and how I hit the clubs. Customer service is not always easy to find but these two associates know how to take care of people. read more

You know, I never jump online to comment about experiences I've had in stores, regarding people's behaviors ( I'm talking specifically about employees that are there to service you). I had an experience at golf galaxy today that made me decide just this once I'll provide a bit of constructive criticism. I Got up this morning with the sole purpose of buying some new golf clubs today. This was going to be my big purchase of the year, for me and me alone, so I wanted to go all out, but the top of the line. Spend enough money where the guilt would compel me to get out and play. Fittings and lessons to boot. The service tech who fits the clubs was probably the rudest person I've talk to in quite some time. . Older gentleman with glasses, scratch golfer though, at least that is what he told me, with an heir of smugness that made me want to throw up on him. He never offered any helpful information about the clubs unless prodded, and looked at me like I was an idiot on every question that I asked him. I'm sorry that you are past the age 65 and have to work in a retail store for retirement... Or maybe you're grossly rich but bored, so you are passing the time. That may be great for you, but it sucks for your employer, because your customer service skills suck, and with every person that you look down on or belittle, it is costing them thousands of dollars. There is a term called CLV in marketing. Look it up. You lost one today, and every single friend or family member that I have ( all golfers btw). I will be spending my money elsewhere. read more

It's interesting to me that the two positive reviews for this store were from people who don't live here. One is from Rockwell City, Iowa, at least a hundred miles away, and the other is from Florida, at least ten times that far. If you live and shop in West Des Moines, and have shopped at this place, you're more likely to have a pretty good idea what happens at this store. Lots of golf stuff...they have it, lots of it, and good golf stuff, too. That's where the magic ends. The first time I ever tried to shop here was in 2017. The store "pro", Jon Ward, saw me walk thru the front door, and literally ran to the rear of the store. I shrugged it off to an emergency call from Mother Nature or some such. I have since been in a few more times, and received similar customer service. Most recently I got a sizeable Golf Galaxy/Dick's Sporting Goods gift certificate for my birthday. I decided to have my adjustable driver fitted with a new shaft. Saturday, August 3, 2019, I went to Golf Galaxy. A young associate began by showing me a particular model. I asked the price, not wishing to insert a shaft which cost more than the entire club was worth. He had one that I could demo in the store. He told me the price, and I said don't bother it's too expensive. He put the demo shaft on anyway, then drifted away and found someone who appeared to be interested in buying a new set of irons. I stood at the counter for about ten minutes, the store "pro" looking on all the while. I decided to leave, so I removed the demo shaft, re-installed my own and walked away. No one said a word to me. I returned to the store today, August 5, hoping there would be fewer customers. After five minutes or so a different associate offered to help. As we discussed possibilities, a man, perhaps a supervisor overheard the conversation, and immediately told me what the store doesn't have and how many ways it could not help me. I thanked all of them and walked away once again...for the last time. I will give the gift certificate to the first random family member who drops by the house. It's an awful thing to do to kin folk, but maybe they'll have better luck than I did. Never again Golf galaxy. Never again Dick's Sporting Goods. A one star rating is way too generous. read more
