Aside from the minimal embarrassment of finding out afterwards that I tried to eat a thermometer thinking it was water (I was thirsty), that I inquired multiple times if I had a BM (I used a more colorful word) during surgery, and that I told everyone I was pretty... The entire experience was quite pleasant. From what I remember of the staff pre-sedation, they were as they advertise. Competent and compassionate. From what I was told by my designated post-surgery driver, the staff of doctors and nurses also have a pretty good sense of humor and roll with whatever bizarre behavior their patients throw at them! The surgery center staff (minus my surgeon and my anesthesiologist) even went so far as to follow up with a get well card afterwards. Thank you April (registration), Alison (pre-op), Claudette and Trisha (OR), and Debbie (recovery). My hope is that I won't require further surgeries, but if I do... I will once again be choosing to have my procedures scheduled at the Brentwood Surgery Center.

If you are worried about your kid's GI issues and have been frustrated with the unavailability of elite doctors at Sutter or Stanford and LPCH, don't wait-- get your kiddos to see Dr. Jeiven and you will be happy that you did that. I do not understand why the Bay Area has so many overworked and unavailable pediatric specialty doctors who do not care about the urgency of their patients' issues.
