I am a highly anxious corporate lawyer working in finance and GOM Moving made my move painless. I would recommend them without any reservations. I used GOM Moving twice. First three years ago moving from NY to NJ. I used them again yesterday moving within Jersey City. GOM was highly responsive throughout the whole process from scheduling, COI, prior reminder and day off. GOM was highly efficient. They came an hour early and had all of our 2bd/1ba stuff in the truck within 1.5 hours?! They had it moved into the new apartment in 1 hour?! GOM's work was spotless. Everything was packed carefully. Everything came perfectly and nothing broken. They were great about asking where each box should go and assembled everything perfectly. GOM's professionalism was amazing. Everyone of of their movers was nice and every request was met with a smile and a "no problem!" Yes, I am kindof gushing at this point. But moves are always stressful for me, and of course, day of, I had a work firedrill so I was spending half of it stressed and locked in the bathroom trying to revise/send out documents. So glad I found Gom Moving. These guys are absolute professionals and offer the most competitive prices; I cannot recommend them enough. I worked with Danny to coordinate all details of the move (time window, COI requests, building restrictions, payments) and the process couldn't have been easier. He was always available via phone/text to answer my many questions. I received a confirmation call the day prior as well as the morning of. Our crew of movers (all wearing masks) arrived right on time and loaded dozens of large boxes and several large pieces of furniture in just two hours (even with a slow, pre-war building elevator). My king size mattress was wrapped in a sanitized mattress-specific case, and my plants carefully were wrapped in boxes. The movers handled every piece of furniture with immense care and added extra padding to fragile pieces. Once we arrived at the new apartment, they also took the extra time to ensure each box and item was placed in the right room (we opted out of furniture assembly). Update 8/20/20. Long story short, I've never come across a moving company that has no integrity, honesty, and outright scams people of their money. Even after calling them explaining the damages, this whole situation was suspect from the beginning because they continued to change their "story/excuses" as to why my belonging were not properly packed with bubble wrap - obviously coming to my doorstep damaged. First it was the US customs, then it was the Korean customs that were at fault for the damages, with them explaining that one of the customs team would have removed the bubble wrap and replaced everything with measly sheets of paper. After receiving confirmation from both US and Korean customs that my boxes were not opened nor inspected by giving the tracking number, they changed their story again and continued to direct us to useless sources of information..redirecting the blame towards delivery companies. Even with the delivery companies we were able to confirm that they did not open any boxes and throw away the bubble wrap and replace everything with sheets of paper. It didn't even make any sense because the delivery companies do not have the authority to do that. They continued to dodge any responsibility for this situation, and said it was a "mystery" to them. How can it be a "mystery" for you, when you guys are being PAID to PACK and ensure the objects are not damaged? And to top it all off, I viewed their instagram page (@gommoving) and low and behold what do I find? MULTIPLE photos of their workers using the SAME exact measly sheets of newsprint paper to pack objects. And these are MULTIPLE photos where it shows the workers using paper to wrap objects, and photos showing paper wrapped objects inside the boxes. Imagine a shipment of fragile objects wrapped in meager paper for an international shipment in 0.25" thick boxes. How does that make any sense? It's completely obvious at this point that they definitely did not pack anything properly from the START and use the "supposed" bubble wrap they insisted on using. Whats a "mystery" to me is how they can be so delusional and actually have the audacity to throw up this lie over and over again to us, saying they have no idea what happened ... for a nearly $2,800 dollar job. The most outstanding of all was that they had the audacity to call my family in Korea back multiple times, badgering them about the review of their company that went online. What I want to ask the company is why there is NO compensation whatsoever for the damages that they are obviously responsible for, because there is nothing wrong about my review. HORRIBLE!!! DO NOT USE!!! If I could give it zero stars I would have. The company move me in September and I still find items that they broke during the move. The most expensive one is the treadmill that I had to spend $700 to fix. Unacceptable and they are super unprofessional. When you try to talk to them to settle the matter they are rude and violent and I am personally scared of them I am scared they know where I live. My wife and I recently used Gom Moving services for a move from midtown, NYC to out-of-state. We had such a positive experience that I felt obliged to leave a review. 1. Price was the best we received after checking with a few other companies. 2. The price quoted was honored. There was no attempt to raise the price on the day of moving as many other companies try to do. 3. The people on the phone as well as all of the workers that came to move were extremely hospitable and accommodating. 4. They work fast. We had trouble with our building COI and they revised it and re-sent it right away. 5. They arrived early and did the job professionally and efficiently. They try to charge you more by suggesting needlessly more expensive option, and avoid your call / claim your moving day is unavailable if you opt to more reasonable option. When I first gave them a call, the owner picked up. His first question right off the bat was "how much price did you hear" - meaning they charge different charges from what they advertise online. I told them I did not hear anything other than their website, but would love to get his consultation. I don't have much furniture for an one bedroom (1 bed, 1 tv, 1 bookshelf, 1 desk, 1 desk chair and that's pretty much it), so I walked him through my list and told him that I would be interested in their smallest vehicle, which is a van, or a smaller truck. He confirmed that both options would be available on my moving day (which I was happy about since I have already told him this is the only possible day), but insisted on getting a larger truck. I did not want to commit to him, so told him that I'll think about it and call back. After actually measuring all my furnitures, I was sure that a van would be enough, so gave them a call 1-2 days after. The same owner picked up a call, I reminded him our previous call, he remembered. I told him that I have decided to go for a van or a small truck. He replied back with a sigh, "ah... you decided to go for a smaller option?". He was sounding apparantly reluctant. He said he cannot confirm the reservation at the moment since he is out for lunch, so he will give me a call back after lunch. Of course the call never came. So I gave the company another call few hours later. The owner picks up again, and he said both options would not be available on my moving day. I reminded him that he said both options were available just 1.5 days ago, and he said "both options just got booked out". I said that's too bad. I thought about looking for another moving company, but by this time I was just too tired. So I gave the company a call again about an hour later to just take whatever option they offer, although that would for sure mean more charge than I need. This time a different, more junior person picked up. So I had to walk through my situation again, and by the time that I finished walking through my furniture, he said "That sounds like a van or a small truck. I can help you book on your moving day right now." ??? I assumed maybe a reservation got cleared off (unlikely but maybe). So we confirmed the details and were about to finalize the reservation, when the guy suddenly said "could you give me a sec, the owner is calling me" and then subsequently cancelled all he said with "the owner said that day is not possible with those options". Instead, he suggested that the larger trucks would be available. This wasted by 3 days. I wouldn't even bother calling them for any of my subsequent moves. read more

This company totally and completely tried to take advantage of my 75 year old mother. Words cannot describe how disgusted I am with Gom cargo and the type of behavior they took part in. My mom had hired this company to move to a nearby town and unfortunately, we were on a time crunch. Things were going smoothly, but we were repeatedly told that we had a lot of stuff. The company packed what they could on a Wednesday and said they had to come back the next day. They never showed up at the specified time and after a phone call, they re-scheduled for Saturday. Sunday was moving day and the truck was being packed. My mother gets a call at 1:00PM and was again told there was a lot of stuff to move. She flat out asked if she had to pay more because she had a feeling that's where the owner was going, but he said no, he would honor the original price. At 6PM my mom gets another phone call while at the new house making sure it was cleaned up for the move. The owner says another truck has to be ordered and wants to know what size she wants. I don't really understand why we would know what size truck to get. Finally, the owner spits out what I guess he has been wanting all along: MORE MONEY. $1300 more. Obviously, my mom said no. There was a dispute and finally the moving company decides they are going to, not only unpack the truck, but also unpack all of our things because they want their boxes back. The truck was unloaded at the old house and they literally threw all of our belongings anywhere and everywhere. My sister had even found old baby pictures in random rooms on the floor. These are precious items that cannot be replaced. When asked to stop, some workers claimed they didn't understand English and others said they were just doing their job. They didn't leave the house until close to 10PM and left the house an absolute mess. This company saw an older woman with a time constraint and tried to fully exploit her situation for more cash. It's very clear to me that they have a scam going to get as much money possible out of their customer. read more

So good. A job that was predicted to take about 3 hours was finished in a little less than an hour. They have to skills, experience and strength to move any furniture at excellent speed and service. I must also share that this job was moving my furniture(sofa, marble table, bed frame and a few drawers in different sizes), TV, bed and boxes that were filled with cloth and a few with silverware and kitchen material all from the 3rd floor down and up to the 5th floor of my new apartment. Definitely recommend GOM and am looking forward to working with them again when the time comes to move again. read more

This company should be the textbook version of how NOT to treat customers. If I could give 0 starts I would. We had similar experiences as Jane K. and E.J. K. had written below. The guy on the phone (owner) gave different price quotes and gave us attitude when I told him we lived far away. When I confronted him about this change in prices, he said that since our move was during the end of month he had to charge us more. Then when moving day came, instead of bringing a 4 man team per our agreement, they brought only 3 people to help us move. The owner says his trucks and company is insured for any liability, but then charges us extra to produce the paper in writing. Don't fool yourself with the positive comments. We had a terrible experience with this company. I had negative experiences with moving companies in the past and therefore decided to try another company who is more clear cut with the services they provide. This company provided a set price for each truck ranging from 17 ft to 24 ft. I had called in advance to make sure they understood that we need the biggest truck as most movers tend to underestimate the amount of things that can come out during moving day. This was a multiple move and it was for family members and therefore I was super careful that they understood that everything needs to go smoothly. I should have known something may be awry when prices for the move changed multiple times from the owner quoting one thing to managers quoting another. 1st move - resulted in a so-so move. Things were packaged well and loaded into the truck for delivery. Problem was that while moving things into the new home, they ended up scratching the floors. They were moving heavy furniture but the damages were in multiple rooms. I had brought this up to the owner and he stated that, "we are all human and when things are heavy the workers may need to put them down to rest." This makes total sense but they should not be dragging the furniture that they are scratching the wood floors. I said we must claimed this through their insurance and he simply stated in the past insurance denied the claims since it could not be determined if the damages were incurred during the move or if damages were there originally. So the point of hiring a company with insurance was null and void. Prices kept changing for the 2nd move. Manager who was onsite for the 1st move explained to the family member that instead of the original quoted amount, the price for the 2nd move will be more expensive and quoted a price more than double the price. I was informed of this change on the day of the move and after complaining to the owner, he agreed to send 3 trucks to complete the job and discounted $500 since there were damages to the floors. This was still $600 more than the original quoted price. Movers came late as they were doing 2 jobs, one in the morning and one in the afternoon which was reserved for us. As things were being moved to a storage unit, he stated that his company will stand behind the guarantee that they will finish the job no matter what. 2 trucks were loaded and not even half of the stuff were removed from the home. Although I had specifically explained to them that the furnitures were heavy and that we needed a truck with hydraulic lift, they sent trucks without them and used barely working moving equipment therefore the workers nearly dragged all the furniture throughout the home to be loaded onto the truck. He insisted that 3 trucks were all loaded and that price need to be adjusted since their guys were exhausted and need to go home. It turns out only 2 were at the location and the 3rd was stuck in NYC. Finally a 3rd truck arrived at the home and I assume as the movers were exhausted from their morning job, they started complaining that there was just too many boxes and furniture and the move cannot be completed. At this point I was so angry at the owner and he stated that it was basically our fault for having too much stuff. He said he can send another truck out the next day but he will have to charge $800 since he needs to pay his guys too. I was appalled. At the end of the day, we ended up spending more than double the original quote on the move and had to deal with the fear and aggravation of not being able to move out of the home entirely before closing that was scheduled for 2 days later.
