We used 1/2 Price Movers for a recent move on the UES of Manhattan (2BR/2BA apartment at the end of October 2023) and they were by far the best moving company we've ever used! First of all, their prices were easily BETTER than any of the other competitors. There are a lot of factors that go into pricing, so I can't speak for everyone else. But in my case, here's how it turned out for reference: every company quoted me over $2,000 to move 7 blocks on the UES and these guys were almost half that at $1,300 based on the initial consultation. When it came time to pay the bill, that's exactly what we paid and there were no surprises or "gotcha" moments. On the initial phone call/consultation, they walk through every room to ensure they know what you intend to move and if there are any special requests. Then on the day of the move, they're very communicative and they arrive on time, work efficiently/quickly, and the whole crew was very respectful and polite. I hate moving, but if/when I have to move again, I will definitely be using 1/2 Price Movers to make it happen! read more

Reached out to "half price movers queens NYC" to get a quote and was given a price that was two and a half times the price of ANY other MOVING company I talked to. Their reasoning: we have good reviews, so we can charge more. NO WAY! LOL Then, she tried to convince me that moving out of an elevator building was "extremely difficult." This woman doesn't know I have moved 10 times in NYC, a few times entirely by myself, and the easiest move was the one to the elevator building. LOL the nerve of this woman!!!!!! Shop around! I was in a super tight 3rd floor walk up with a tiny stairway, these guys managed not only to get a ton of heavy furniture out but also my washer and dryer without a single scratch on anything !! Found these movers here on Yelp and decided to give it a shot. Great pricing, friendly staff, and extremely efficient! To be honest they were more prepared for my move then I was! They wrapped up the furniture neatly to not scratch or scuff the floors from and to where we were moving. Booked with this company that seemed like it was promising. I'm a single mother and they left me a message the day before my move saying if I didn't confirm by 5pm my move would be canceled and deposit lost. I was working and missed this call which I saw at 6:30 when I finished work. This communication isn't even in the quote and contract they send you. So you get blindsided by losing your deposit and add more stress to your life if you miss a call. I had to scramble to find movers last minute. I'm not impressed. read more

We had a huge move, one that took us months to pack, 100+ boxes, 20+ tubs, some big furniture items and they owned out. The staff at 1/2 price movers is absolutely awesome. This is truly a great family business. It starts with the staff to the team leaders to the movers. Team leader Ricky, along with Tyrrell, Lamar and Marty did a fantastic job moving my furniture. I was very impressed with the handling of my baby grand piano, it was treated as if it belonged to them. The team arrived on time and the entire move from loading to unloading took about 3.5 hours. First class experience. This moving Company was excellent. We used them last weekend to move out of our condo. They gave us a window of when they would arrive, between 11am and 1pm. They kept me updated throughout the morning with their schedule and arrived at 12:40pm. They were very careful when wrapping our expensive furniture. We have lots of glass and they wrapped up everything and safely secured it in their large van. They sent two vans and a 4 person crew for a 1 bedroom move! I've used other moving companies and they usually send only 3 unfriendly guys. These 4 guys were very friendly, respectful and kind. They laughed and seemed happy to work there. One guy wasn't so friendly but later excused his attitude and said he was feeling under the weather. They were very efficient. They did the entire move in about 3 hours.
