Changed brake rotors and pads. He did an amazing work, and him being a mobile mechanic was very convenient.

I called on a Monday afternoon at 3pm, no answer. I stopped by at 3:30pm during normal business…read morehours and arrived to a locked front door and a closed shop. Took my car to a competitor. Waste of time, the website says they're open M-F until 6pm.

I have been using L Japan Autoservices for the past 5 or 6 years. My experience has been one in…read morewhich Joe, who is the owner of L Japan Autoservices, has always charged me a fair price for his services. Recently, I decided to purchase a used Lexus and needed a pre-purchase inspection report. Now at the time, L Japan Autoservices was unavailable, on such short notice, and so I scheduled an appointment with First Class Halt. It was very easy to make an appointment with First Class (FC) and I was able to have my used Lexus inspected almost immediately. However, I soon found out that FC charged me roughly twice what L Japan Autoservices charged for the same service. FC charged me $250 for the pre-purchase inspection report and found a small oil drip near my engine. FC then told me I should have an UV Engine Dye Test to locate the source of the small oil leak for $200. They also said once we know where the leak is coming from we can fix it for an additional charge. I thanked FC for their report and after a few days was able to set up an appointment with Joe of L Japan Autoservices. Now, Joe only charged me $125 for his pre-purchase inspection report. Joe took a video of his inspection and sent it to my phone. He pointed out quite a number of small issues that I should be aware of, like my battery terminal corrosion. In addition, Joe showed me on the video where the very small engine oil drip was and felt that because there was no oil leaking on the ground, and no burnt oil smells, and the oil dipstick level had not changed significantly I could just watch it for now and address this issue later. This advice saved quite a bit of money and worry. Thank you Joe!

I just moved to Greenville, so it means a lot to me to find a reputable car shop. Especially since I grew up in my grandparent's shop! This place feels like home. I took my car in to have my cluster replaced. Mind you my interior is beige cloth. Its obvious my car was used for shop or personal use. My cluster was never program to its proper mileage so now my car shows 50,000 less miles than it really is. Had to ask for documentation twice from Bailey. Was given a $50 gift car for gas reimbursement. I had several billing discrepancies. Bailey tried to charge me for programming until i called him on it. Just a all around horrible experience at Mason and Sons at 215 college st. downtown Greenville sc. Not so sure of anyone elses experience but mine was horrible and I will never recommend this shop to anyone. Bailey tried to seriously cheat me out of a quality job and money. I stand by this review and have pictures and documentation to back it up.

Started off great - had my car towed to Greenville Transmission Clinic on a Monday and was told…read morethat the diagnostician was only in on Monday and Wednesday (why the person who can actually "diagnose" an issue is in 2 days a week is beyond me) but I was told that my car was going to be assessed that Wednesday. I didn't hear anything so I called at the end of the day on Wednesday (no one called me) and I was told that there was a back up and my car hadn't gotten on the lift. I then called on Thursday to get an update and was told that someone would get back to me. Someone finally called and said that I would have to pay an additional $100 for "more testing", and that they didn't "think" it was the transmission and was probably the catalytic converter. I agreed and then called back on Friday and was told that it hadn't happened yet and that someone would get back to me. The following Monday, I reached out to see what was happening and was told that the shop had just opened (it had been opened for almost an hour - and it's Monday, the day the 2 work-day-a-week diagnostician was supposed to be there, but whatever) and that someone would get back to me by the end of the day to give me an update. Once again, no update by the end of the day and no call on Tuesday morning. So I ended up going down, found out that the "additional" testing hadn't happened (they obviously didn't charge me for that). I ended up having the car towed somewhere else. The gentleman at the front desk explained that there was a back-up, etc., but the fact that there was almost zero communication is pretty unacceptable when you've had someone's car for a week. Communication is key and I honestly would have been happy with a text notification - the customer shouldn't be the one reaching out constantly for information. BTW, the new shop called me about 20 min after I dropped the car off and will have it ready at 2pm.
