I am a loyal customer, having used GTTD services for over two years. On Friday, I brought my dog for a grooming. When I picked him up, his groomer (Sarah) informed me she had cut his back leg with thinning shears. She made it seem like it wasn't a big deal and blamed it on him because he had been "dancing" while she was cutting. When I got him home, I discovered how deep the cut was. They had put some kind of antibiotic powder on it, but it was still bleeding. I called the salon and spoke to the manager, Rachel. As I expressed my sadness, frustration and concern, all she said was "I don't know what you want me to tell you. Accidents happen." She said they'd be happy to take another look at it as if they are qualified to treat an injury they caused. I have spoken to my vet and sent pictures. She couldn't believe how poorly it was handled and thought it was an unnaturally deep cut for something they acted so nonchalant about. This is all on top of the fact that his haircut is actually awful. I asked for the feathering to be shortened on his legs and she went choppy EVERYWHERE. His stomach fur is absolutely butchered. Some girl named Jessica did my dog. Not only did they keep him for like 5 hours.... but they cut him three times and gave him the most uneven hair cut. He was matted when he went in, but for 80 dollars I expected the cut to at least be even. I could have did this at home! the fluffy pic of him was his before the grooming ... he wasn't even that matted.... My poor dog was whining and licking the area she cut him all night. I contacted the manager and they offered to fix his hair but I didn't want to bring him back there.... Don't bring your dog here!!! read more

This was pretty disappointing. Our dog badly needed his nails trimmed and our work hours dont normally allow us to take care of this during the week. Our usual dog groomer is up the road a little bit and we usually take him there on weekends, but we saw that Gone To The Dogs was open until 8pm on Thursdays and closer to us so we figured we'd take advantage of that and try a new place out. We got there about 6:50pm on a Thursday and walked in. We explained that we just need our Fox Terrier's nails trimmed. He proceeded to tell us that he sent everyone home a few minutes ago! Remember, they advertise as being open until 8pm on this night and this was BEFORE 7PM. I was speechless. I would highly recommend to this place that if they are going to send everyone home early except 1 person, that 1 person really should know how to do the simple stuff. If not, why are you still open with no one there to perform any of your advertised services? I'll gladly go back to my normal groomer who I can rely on to be there when they say they are. read more

A first-timer at Gone to the Dogs to use the self-service wash, I was anxious to see how it all works. I was met with a warm welcome from James and given a tour of the space. The whole process was terrific. Kaya has never been a fan of bath day, so she was sure to let everyone know. Although, her "singing" in the shower is much better than mine! James stopped by a couple times to check in and offer some much appreciated advice. Grooming Review: gone to the dogs did an amazing job on my golden doodle! He came in for his summer cut. His beard and tail were pretty matted and the staff recommended a clean shave. While he currently looks like a rat dog, I know he feels so much better. The groomer did an awesome job with him and I will definitely come back for my in between grooms where he doesn't have to be completely shaved. They were also super helpful when it came to drying him. My dog has a history of pooping himself when being dryed because it scares him that much (poor dood). The groomer laid out 4 different things she would try to dry him without scaring him and it seemed to work! read more

Can't believe no one's reviewed this little gem yet. Been a return customer going on ten years since we adopted our gorgeous rescue Black Chow-Border Collie many baths ago. As the their name suggests, GTTDs exclusively services dogs & dogs alone. Owners, or more accurately, doggy "Parents" (blek- sorry!) have the option of having their canines groomed by popular groomers who are ALWAYS busy & yet seem to be able to tell you something about whatever pooch they're working on.... OR if they're penny pinchers like me, can choose "self-serve" bathing (the dog, not yourself, that is) in spacious immaculately clean, stainless steel bins. Since I do not partake of the former, my review will focus on the self-serve component of the business. First of all, plastic aprons are provided for the groomers, i.e. YOU. The bins are also equipped with a laaarge (think - big a-- ) bottle of shampoo & a somewhat more modest size bottle of conditioner. Originally, the self-serve bins also featured a smaller bottle of "tearless" shampoo "for the face," but they recently introduced "tearless shampoo" in the aforementioned large shampoo container (which btw, may be used as generously or as sparingly as needed as depending on just how hirsute your beast may be). For canines who have had the unfortunate, if inevitable, encounter with Peppy LaPeu (aka skunkus horribilis), customers can also request specially designed shampoos for a modest fee. There are also upgraded shampoos & conditioners for long-haired breeds, dogs suffering from skin allergies & the like. Since my beloved 14 year old "puppy" is part Chow & was once so tormented by flea bites that she literally chewed off all the fur around her anus (not a pretty sight, I assure you), I can attest to the difference that particular shampoos & conditioners can make. Once shampoo & conditioning are complete, a seriously powerful blow dryer (think leaf blower) with 2 settings - again, one for the body & a lower setting for the face - makes every penny of the reasonable fee to self-groom worth it. Every bit of fur that flies off the dog into your face & not infrequently, your mouth to be sputtered out, eventually ends up ultimately going down THEIR drain & sticking to the side of THEIR bin which is then promptly cleaned for the next customer. Point to be grasped here - said fur is not all over your house, lawn, etc. Be sure to ask for a punch card which, once filled, qualifies your pup for a free self-serve bath. Also take advantage of special 50 percent off bathing on Thursdays 4-7 (quoting from memory - be sure to ck their website about time frame, but sure about the day) which despite the discount still gets your ticket punched! In short, Gone to the Dogs is a neighborhood gem that will fast become part of your extended family should your current one include a beloved pooch. Our own is getting up in age now & while we haven't been coming as often, I'm sure when we do return soon, our (now, old) girl will get a sincere greeting & leave grateful for the complementary biscuit. This place is a godsend, and the staff are very kind, helpful, and professional. They have all the proper equipment you would need to properly and efficiently wash your dog, including proper shampoo, towels, and a drier with low and high settings. My dog, Poncho, is a German shepherd, Chow, Husky mix. I was ready to make an appointment for grooming before Covid hit. So she has gone through spring with a lot of trapped undercoat that has been coming off in clumps all over my home. Due to the backup of appointments you need to request an appointment via their website. Then they contact you I requested first available. They sent me a reminder text with info on their social distancing protocols. They made it easy and clear. At the time of our appointment we were met at the door by our groomer for the day, Sarah. She was very friendly and put Poncho at ease. They walked into the building. I went home. I received a text when Poncho was done, with directions to call to pay over the phone. Then back to the shop to pick up Poncho. They brought her outside to me. She came out looking spectacular! Nails trimmed, fur so soft and smelling fine! No more flying fur when you pet her! I know this review is long. But thought I'd walk you through the experience since these are unusual times. We have had different groomers each time we have gone there. And they have all been amazing! I'm glad that they have not missed a beat during these social distancing times. read more

I take my dog to the North Ridgeville location and they are beyond AMAZING! Erin is always so sweet to my Maverick and the owner is passionate about the business. I groomed my dog for 10 years by myself because I was worried about something happening to him if I took him somewhere. After I expressed my concerns, Jeff, the owner, insisted I take a tour before making an appointment. This showed me how much he cared about his clients. He showed me that they use 2 harnesses, so the dog can never fall off and be choked, they use cool air dryers, and a dog is NEVER left unattended on the grooming table (I've witnessed this in person...they will not leave the dog). All of these things give me total comfort that my dog is in the best care. As a bonus, his hair looks great! My focus is safety, but seriously he looks adorable EVERY time. I couldn't recommend a groomer any higher. We have been going almost two years now. read more

We love taking our Lucy to play with her friends at the daycare and getting her groomed in the same day. She is a lab and sheds a lot. This was by far the best grooming we have had done and her shedding was greatly reduced. We Highly recommend trying it out! read more
