They had started but not finished the drink for optimum freshness, which I appreciate. As it was late, I went for a non-caffeinated lemon basil seed drink. I find the mucilaginous seeds rather delightful. I asked for the sweetness to be light, but honestly I'm not sure if it was simply because the drink was so delicious. Oh well. My waffle smelled rather nice, but it was a waffle with blueberry flavoring rather than any actual blueberries. Still good for what it was, but not quite what I'd hoped. My favorite drink is the lemon ai yu white pearl drink. It's nice and refreshing. I can get it with no sugar and it's still tasty. The app and their kiosk makes it easy for introverts to order their drink the way they like. A lot of times I can place my order right before heading over or even in the parking lot and my drink will be ready. They also offer coupons and deals with the reward program. I've definitely taken advantage of it before and was able to try a winter melon tea drink that I wouldn't usually get. The staff has always been nice. Their bathroom is nice a large. A Gong Cha? In Augusta?! Am I dreaming? Since moving here a few years ago, I was incredibly disappointed in the lack of boba shops. And the ones that the locals said were boba .. were very much not boba. Back home in Virginia Beach, they opened up a Gong Cha and every time I visit home, it's a must. While they don't offer my favorite go-to here, a creme brûlée caramel black tea, the offer a regular caramel black tea and that's just as pleasant. I always add the white pearls, and I think it's worth the .85 up charge. While my husband asked, they did say 'not yet' to the creme brûlée, so I hope they offer it soon. He then asked about Vietnamese coffee, and they looked at him like he had two heads lol. Soooo, they probably won't have that one, but we're headed home soon so we'll get our fix at the Gong Cha there. Finding the actual location was incredibly difficult. There is no sign outside, yet. There looked to be one inside on the floor that they haven't been able to put up. Parking isn't the best either, though there was a sign saying parking around back as well. If it's busy, which I expect it will be because the drinks are phenomenal, then parking will not be fun depending on their peak times. Tomorrow, 11/7/21 is their grand opening. There are so many great places popping up in the CSRA that I can't keep up - and Gong Cha is one of them! I used to live in an area with a lot of bubble tea places, including multiple Gong Chas, so I was extremely excited to give the Augusta one a try. First, the menu is quite extensive and can likely be a little intimidating for those who are new to bubble tea. So, if you don't know what you want quite yet, then you can stand back and take in the menu with the various types of drinks andn then if you have any questions, the employees are very helpful! Once you choose your base tea, you need to pick the amount of sweetness and the ice level (scale of 0% to 100%), and then you have an option of toppings. I tend to go on the less sweet side (30 or 50%) and I'm a fan of less ice (30%). The first time I came here, I got the purple sweet potato milk tea (with black tea) with black pearl and pudding jelly topping. This one was deliciously thick with an earthy flavor from the potato. Recently, I ordered a matcha milk tea with the lychee pearls and it was perfectly made, with 50% sweetness and the fruitiness of the lychee with the matcha was a delightful taste. I also ordered a matcha bubble waffle - you'll smell these delicious treats as soon as you come inside. The ultimate product was delicious as the texture was crunchy yet chewy and only a little sweet. It did take a bit to prepare because they got a little rush after my order, but this doesn't detract from the overall 5 star experiences I've had. The interior of the store itself is very cute - with plenty of little spots to take internet-worthy pictures of your tea and treats and there is also a good amount of seating if you want to stay a little bit. read more

My wife is addicted to this chain. I came one morning close to opening for us, and I waited an entire hour for our drinks. I understand it's a new store, but one hour is just frustrating. The bubble tea is why I still go, because the service is not great . There are always teenage girls there that do not welcome the customers, one girl was sitting on the customer side of the counter and when my husband stood at the counter to order she got up slowly walked over and just stared at him until he ordered. Another time I went in and one of the girls came up to take my order and - I KID YOU NOT - was spraying deodorant into her armpits and laughing hysterically with her coworkers. Really makes me reconsider the cleanliness. To the owner I would say stop hiring teenagers that just sit and talk on the customer side , have attitude when people are trying to order and make sure they know and comply with basic hospitality and public health requirements and food safety. I have only tried the iced milk coffee with no sugar, the plain waffle, and iced oolong tea with no sugar. Everything I've ordered has been great. Gave this place about 7 visits so far and it's a hit or miss. I believe the milk teas are good and the toppings (and their amounts) are great but I like flavored fruit teas sometimes and that's where they are inconsistent. I bought a lemon winter melon drink with basil seed and I asked for 50% less sugar and it tasted like diabetes SWEET. I asked to get the sugar reduced again and the lady just opened the seal just to reseal it because it was the exact tooth decaying SWEET. At another visit the lady said the winter melon flavor can't be adjusted in sugar but the lady before didn't say that to me. It was a waste of money. I also tried the passion fruit drink and I ordered it at 50% sugar and it was still way too sweet for my taste. I think some of the toppings have excess syrup or something.
