They definitely encourage using the chapel for 200 guests and it's fairly expensive but hey, what a great business this is since everyone has to deal with the death of a loved one. It's definitely a low key hustle which I totally respect. It's extremely overwhelming when you are dealing with grief but it has to be done so let the experts here help you through it. They seem to really care and are very sympathetic!

Selecting a funeral home was not something that I had given any thought to until the need arose in…read morea very urgent way. I found myself in a crisis situation where the sheriffs department told me to call a mortuary to come take care of a relative. It was a weekend and I had absolutely no idea how to proceed. I got out my phone and did a search for the closest mortuary and Alameda popped up. I gave them a call and explained my situation and the wonderful woman who answered my call walked me through exactly what the next steps were. I didn't get her name, but she was absolutely fantastic to work with in a very difficult situation. A few hours later, the right folks arrived and took care of the situation. The following Monday first thing in the morning we went to the funeral home and met with Paul. Paul was right out of central casting for somebody to guide us through what would happen over the next two weeks. Paul spent about an hour and a half with us that morning walking us through all of the things we needed to make decisions about and next steps. He was absolutely fantastic to work with and I can't possibly imagine how that very difficult experience could have been any better than to have been guided by Paul. I hope that if I ever find myself in this situation in the future, I can find Paul or somebody exactly like him. For the funeral itself, Michael was our funeral director and again we could not have asked for a better person to be in charge. Michael knew exactly what to do intuitively and working with him at the cemetery was absolutely fantastic. I really can't recommend Alameda Family any higher. Everything was taken care of in a perfect way.

She had no patience and was rushing us for information. We never had a consultation with her but when we arrived, she said "so did you guys bring the stuff?" and was completely rude. Have some decency as planning a funeral is stressful enough.

When my father passed away at home, surrounded by his loved ones, Daniel came to retrieve him with such professionalism, compassion, and respect. He was incredibly gentle and cared for my dad's body as though he were still alive. He patiently waited while every member of our family had the opportunity to say their final goodbyes before gently and respectfully taking my father into his care. One small gesture that meant so much to us was that Daniel asked what my father's favorite music was so he could play it for him during the drive back to Lima & Campagna. That level of thoughtfulness and care is something our family will never forget. Daniel was also incredibly accommodating, offering helpful advice about services and providing kind, supportive words to our family as we grieved. Daniel's experience really shows through the way that he handles the business side of death; all paperwork was organized and well prepared. As devastating as losing a parent is, I feel so much more at peace knowing that my dad was treated with such dignity, gentleness, and care. My mother passed away two weeks ago, and today I went to bring her home. Unfortunately, what should…read morehave been one of the most meaningful and compassionate moments of my life became one of the most upsetting. We specifically upgraded and paid for a "gold/bronze" boxed urn to bring my mom home in. Instead, after getting home and unwrapping everything with my family, I discovered that her ashes had been placed in a plain plastic container. Because everything was wrapped when it was handed to me, I had no reason to believe anything was wrong. This isn't something most people have experience with, and in that emotional moment I trusted that everything had been prepared correctly. What was equally disappointing was the complete lack of empathy during the pickup. I was simply handed my mother's remains with little acknowledgment of the significance of the moment. There was no effort to verify the contents with me or ensure that everything matched what had been arranged. I have spent the last 20 years caring for my mother, and I also work in healthcare. I understand that people in this profession deal with death and grief every day. However, for families, this is not routine--this is one of the hardest days of our lives. Compassion, attention to detail, and respect matter immensely. The only positive experience I had was with the woman who originally helped my mother make her arrangements about a year before she passed. She was kind, thoughtful, and compassionate. Unfortunately, the care we received afterward did not reflect that same level of professionalism. This was one of the most painful experiences of my life, and the mistakes and lack of compassion only added to our grief. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business. After discovering the mistake, I immediately contacted the business and am currently waiting for a return call. I sincerely hope they take responsibility for what happened and make this right. I will update my review based on how they choose to address this situation.

Very small parking lot that has one driveway entrance that dead ends (meaning the kind of parking lot where you'd have to back out of you can't turn yourself around to drive out head first). Fortunately, the parking lot was practically empty when I arrived late afternoon within an hour of their closing. The lady at the store was very helpful and understanding. She told me that since the body would be collected at El Camino Hospital, she recommended that I contact their Mountain View location on Castro St, due to proximity to the hospital. She gave me a helpful informational checklist. And she told me more about their process and pricing. This location has a small show room with full size caskets; the Mountain View location is smaller than this, and only has "sample" size display examples mounted on a wall.

They offer grief counseling, police escort, work with local caterers, they work with local cemeteries and will make the appointments for you, and they will even get needed death certificates. Basically they work with you through the whole process in a most difficult time. Our coordinators name is Margarita. I can't say enough about her!! She took almost all my phone calls immediately and responded to my text right away even on her days off. Margarita made a slide show for me and then because of time constraints on my end, she redid it for me at no extra cost. All the people that I spoke with there were all very helpful and I did not experience any resistance from them when I was asking for special favors. I would not hesitate to use them again.
