Always wanted to go in this store, and then I saw some beautiful lamps in the window, did I need them no, but I wanted them. Ended up going in twice to decide, they gave me a great deal! Owners seem wonderful and each time I went there was a group of people hanging out, very social like a coffee shop, wish I lived in alameda, because I'd rather go there and hang than, a coffee shop! Had to buy lampshades for the lamps and unfortunately the shades I wanted I'm probably going to have to make because I can't find anything like them out there so I got some cheap one for now at Walmart, they look ok, doing the 60's thing! read more

We stumbled on this hidden gem while looking at Lynn's Antique store across street which was a total bummer there because it was small and they were not friendly at all... but here at good better best it was a better vibe we weren't welcomed upon entering but the owner was nice and very helpful with everything we asked and bought today like a lot of tea sets, dishes, kids books, cool magazines and a really cute cat clock and Easter egg globe :) I would definitely come back again the prices were all very reasonable here and so much to look through .. read more

Absolutely one of the best antique stores I have visited. Lots and lots of interesting and unique things all at reasonable prices. You want it they have it. A real treasure trove. Totally awesome junk shop. There is definitely one of everything ever made crammed in and some good deals. If you're looking for vinyl, there are at least a dozen crates stacked in the corner. I friggin' LOVE this place! *Drove past it recently once by accident & decided to pop in 'n check 'em out...... They have tons of really really cool antiques, assorted collectible memorabilia, etc. You could literally spend hours browsing the huge collection of STUFF in here! Best of all: This place does w/out the snobbishness that antique stores often have. I was in a hurry so I skimmed the whole store quickly and found some cool 80s pins & a couple of interesting stickers that I just had to have. The prices are kind of all over the place (some cheap, some high), BUT in general I felt they were mostly fair. You can bet I'll come back here! read more

Horrible customer service. From the moment I walked in, I didn't feel welcomed. I just came in to see if they would check out some antique items I cleared from my parents' home including a working vintage Korting radio in great condition. All items were in my car close by and I was hoping they would at least just look at them, but the guy just turned me away after I just mentioned 2 of the several things I had, without any further inspection or desire for additional details. He was so off-putting. From what I did see, they are drowning in dust-collecting items and the store was empty with customers. Why not just say they're not buying anything at the moment? I definitely won't be coming back with any additional items or as a customer and will recommend the plenty of other places on Park Street nearby (with better foot traffic). This is a great place to get lost in... They have a huge variety of things. Endless variety. I've been here a dozen or so times over the past few years and have always left with a smile on my face and feeling like I got a good deal . The gentleman who owns it is very nice. They have lots of turnover meaning he's willing to haggle a bit on the prices which means he gets new stuff is coming in pretty regularly. The owner was super friendly, but dear lord, I couldn't move in this place! It is packed to the point where you can't even move to see what else is in there. It takes dedication. Another couple came in and we literally could not stay 6 feet apart in the aisle. I didn't find anything on this trip, but I talked to them as they were leaving and they found some several items (side table, lamp and other stuff) that they were super happy with! So, go and look, but be prepared to hunt to find what you want! read more

What an interesting place. I was expecting to find something for the living room, but man I got sucked into walking around the whole store. There is no better antique store in all of Alameda, let alone the entire state! I never fail to find a "must have" piece whether furniture, art, jewelry or collectible. Unlike most stores items are fairly priced to sell and, therefore, merchandize is constantly changing. From week to week there's always something new and exciting. Jim and Tim are very knowledgeable and fun to talk to about the history and provenance of each piece. This is a TRULY great place to shop and hang out. From the great background music to the wide selection of everything you could imagine wanting, from the whimsical to the WOW, this is a place I love to visit. All of my out-of-town guests always want to build in a visit to GBB while they're in town. Tim has just reorganized and the store is now lined with custom-made lighted and mirrored cases that are beautiful and display his treasures to advantage. Great place to shop for antiques, furniture, brick -a- brac, collectibles as well as great inexpensive used books. Some real blast from the past items surface at this store.
