Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed by my visit to this shop. I received extremely poor customer service which made me feel like my person (and my money) were unwelcome. The two employees refused to acknowledge (greet, answer questions, etc.) me and my mother, two women of color, but loudly and warmly welcomed in a white woman shortly thereafter. I have no idea if the poor customer service I received was rooted in racism; I can only share what I observed. The selection of furniture and knick knacks on display was promising, so I'm very sad to say that I did not feel comfortable making a purchase today, and will not be returning. read more

Word through the grapevine is they are closing down and not taking consignments currently. What a shame as it's a nicely laid out store with some good finds on occasion. I did not have a good experience with this business and would not recommend consigning with them. I came to collect my unsold merchandise ONE DAY after the pick up date. Yes, I was late, but I came on the first Saturday after the pick up date. I work and could not come during their limited weekday hours. My merchandise was gone. Completely gone. One day late. I spoke with 3 different people, who all said they would check "in the back" for it. Unsurprisingly, it never showed up. Interestingly, another of my unsold items was still on the sale tables. I felt they were very unconcerned about me or my items. Which was also demonstrated by pulling the item one day after the due date. This place acts hella fake. Was communicating with them thru email and agreed to purchase our mission style 2 piece couch. They told us it would be an easy sale for them. We load up the truck and drive over 2 hours to deliver and sell our furniture. They do a complete 180 and was like nah it's bad we don't want it. Waste of Gas and our time. Sadly I must say goodbye to Second Home. I visit this store frequently and find many useful items but there's one glaring problem: the mother-daughter owners lack basic training. No greeting or acknowledging customers. Questions are met with cold disinterest. Often the mom will answer a question and not even remove her gaze from her computer screen. The daughter is just as vacant and icy. The worse - they verbally trash former customers while other customers are still in the store. Ladies, you would make so much more money and have a better relationship with the community if you stayed home and hired staff. read more

I've been doing business here for more than 7 years...both buying and selling. Have gotten wonderful oriental rugs, vintage furniture, new pieces, at steep discounts. They don't mob you at the door and bug you. You are free to wander, sit on the sofas, pick things up, imagine, think, google, measure, call your partner or best friend and say " what do you think of a purple velvet chair? It's unbelievably comfortable!" No fuss. I have literally camped on a sofa for 30 minutes, considering my options and rearranging my living room on a phone app! The owner is really knowledgeable but frequently single handedly running the place. The prices are great. I've never felt the need to ask for a discount. They are gracious about putting things on hold if you need to run home and measure, usually untill close of day. If you are selling, take the time to vacuum out the drawers, hit up the furniture with some polish or scratch hider, don't even think of bringing something with stains or worn upholstery. It's not a thrift store. It's the kind of place where no one knows you bought a used piece of furniture - it's take it out of the car or off your truck and pop it in the living room, it looks amazing. Another good hint is to stop by with photos if you have large items or a houseful of stuff to get the nod before bringing things in. read more

What a surprise! This is second hand home items, but they have better quality and often have midcentury modern. It's not the price you'd expect from a vintage estate resale shop, and it's much nicer than a thrift store. I love this place because it's organized, clean, has nice items, and easy prices. I recently moved back to the area and with that move, I needed furniture. My mom suggested to go to Second Home to look for a couch. Though I didn't find a couch that suited my apartment, I did find some cool decor that was reasonably priced. The floor is packed with furniture so you'll have choices for whatever you may be looking for. The furniture I saw was in great condition and though it may have been out of my budget, it might be in yours. I could list more positives about Second Home but in a nutshell it's a great consignment store with a friendly staff. Quality Consignment Home Goods Friendly Service. I totally stumbled on this place in a drive by. In addition to my taste for quality home furnishings I am also total bargain shopper. One mans "quality" trash is another mans treasure sets the tone here. They have great quality one-of-a-kind furniture pieces and art i.e. solid wood dining tables, cocktail tables, headboards, pots & pans, serving wear, books etc. I lucked up on a few Calphlon cookware for $15 hence the prices are very reasonable. This is a consignment store if you really like something buy it right away because it may not be there tomorrow. The store is pretty big and filled with so many great furnishings. This is nothing like a Goodwill or some raggedy thrift shop so its worth the shop. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I tend to make my way here every couple of weeks since inventory turns pretty fast here. Don't forget to put money in the meter! read more

We're lucky to have this place just around the corner from our new place, at a time when we're needing to buy a bunch of home furnishings - my wife and I often pop in to see what they have before deciding on buying new. It's not a crazy big store, but there's definitely a good selection of chairs, tables, cabinets, desks and bookcases at very reasonable prices. We got a pair of gorgeous solid wood bookcases recently for $75 each, for example. There's also a good selection of kitchenware - plates/bowls, utensils, and small appliances. The crockery sets are usually complete too, not just random plates/bowls. I'd describe this place as something between a regular consignment shop or goodwill, and a higher end antiques place. It's accessible, unassuming, but most of the stuff in there has been well curated and is of excellent quality. We'll definitely be back - we need some plates ;) read more

The customer service is lacking: The owner and her help make no attempt to extend warm welcomes. I use the store as the staff uses customers: With profit in mind. I go elsewhere to enjoy myself and leave Second Home as quickly as possible. It is a good spot to overhear local, unprofessional gossip by all the staff. I can find some bargains but the karma they bring into my home make me wonder: Is it worth it? Hopefully Suzette and her staff will infuse some joy into the place and become customer-focused and professional. Happy customers spend more money so spare us the 'tudes and smile more ladies. Learn to enjoy meeting people. I am in no hurry to go back but when I do it will be to give the place one final redeeming opportunity. I wish Second Home success .... This is such an adorable place with tons of unique items that aren't ridiculously priced items that have been well cared for by their previous owners. There is so much to choose from and I could spend forever in there taking my time to see what's new that has arrived. I've also sold a few items myself and they give fair percentages and have really nice folks who are helpful. I'd go more often but I'm now living in a tiny house and no room for much but will continue to visit and see what's up with the smaller items. Just a fun place to shop. read more

Best prices on used furniture and household goods around! They are open Tuesday through Saturday from 10 AM 'til 5:30 PM. They close early on Saturdays at 5:00 PM. So here's the deal: you really have to stop in several times during a Saturday when their truck is going out to pick up furniture that is coming into the shop to be sold. When a piece gets rolled off the truck it may take them several hours to price it, so if you love it, stick close by. They have a pretty generous policy about holding something for a few hours while you go home to measure or consult your partner about it. They will also put a piece on lay-away for you with a 50% down payment. Downside: Absolutely the rudest staff I have ever encountered! If the stuff they sell wasn't sooo great, I'd never set foot in the place again. (I mean, seriously, they refuse to even greet you when you walk in unless you are in their circle of friends!) And don't even bother to ask if they have any ____ (whatever you are looking for) coming in on the truck because they won't tell you. Again, it is the quality and the good prices of the stuff they have that keeps me coming back. They will deliver locally for a small fee. (Add more if there are stairs involved.) read more

My mother and I come here a lot because of the cool objects that we find, my mother comes here more often though. What I don't like about this place is how rude the staff is. Maybe it's because neither I or my mother have that "rich looking" appearance that they treat us like we are intruders. I noticed how more nice they act towards the may I say, richer looking customers compared to me and my mom. My mother was there last week and wanted to purchase 2 pieces of Friday Kahlo art. I was on the phone with her while she was telling me about the Frida Kahlo art that was for sale. She wanted to hand her cell phone to the cashier so that I could tell her which pieces I wanted. There were a total of 4 pieces hanging on the wall. The cashier said in a rude tone "NO, I cannot talk right now." Mind you, she was not helping anyone else at that moment. At that time a kind woman who spoke Spanish walked in and helped my mom by telling the cashier that my mom was interested in 2 specific pieces of the Frida Kahlo art. At this point the cashier is looking at the pieces that my mom is pointing at which were the 2 pieces that she wanted to purchase. Suddenly, another customer walks up to the Frida Kahlo pieces and is going to grab the one that my mother was going to purchase. At this time, I am on the phone with my mother, I can hear her tell the woman that she was purchasing the 2 pieces. Mind you, the cashier is watching what's going on and the young lady that was helping my mother also told the cashier that my mom had already told her she wanted those specific pieces. The cashier continues to ring the woman up and giggles then says "whoever pays first takes the piece." My mother and I will never go back to that store. The cashiers are always in a bad mood or very short with certain people. read more

This consignment store has great prices and an awesome selection. I recently bought a very nice black leather loveseat for $200, a china cabinet and desk for $125. The employees are a bit laid back, if you want it you pay for it and then figure out a way to get it out of the store yourself, but the prices and quality of the pieces you will find make it worth the extra effort. The turnover rate is very high so they always have new stuff. If you are on the sensitive side and think everyone should drop what they are doing to lay out the red carpet for you as you walk in the store then this is probably not the place for you. They don't work on commission people...The staff is very matter of fact, to the point, and because they are very busy and always receiving things they may seem a bit unfriendly, but they really very nice and want to help move their stock. They are always super busy (especially on Saturdays!) and I think their distraction can sometimes come off as rude, but let's not take everything so personal folks...It's not you it's the rate of consignments! They do an awesome job of providing a really great selection and at good prices. I don't come in there to make friends, I come in there to get a good deal and that is what makes them great. read more
